  • As the Match of the Day: Top 10 team discuss the best all-time Premier League strikeforce, Alan Shearer can't help but feel someone is being left out of the debate. Harry Kane, Sergio Agüero, Wayne Rooney and Thierry Henry all get a mention, but what about the Premier League's all-time leading goal scorer?

      @4231jerome ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yep, pretty much what he said. Henry’s favourite places to pick up the ball were the left wing and the left half space. Rooney is famous for being a Swiss Army knife, he could play any position on the pitch brilliantly. I remember how he started playing the no.6 role at the end of his United career, he became a world class midfielder overnight. With the fullbacks bombing on and providing width, that front three would be a nightmare to defend in and around the box.

    56/260 of Shearer’s goals were pens. 22%
    30/210 of Kane’s goals were pens. 14%

    • @saiga1545
      @saiga1545 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, all we know is that even if you remove Shearer's penalty goals, he still has better goal per game ratio (204 goals in 441 games which is 46.25% ) than Andy Cole (187 goals in 414 games which is 45.17%). So Andy Cole doesn't belong in these discussions either way because there are other top strikers with way better goal ratios (like Kane, Aguero, Henry) even when you exclude penalties. Shearer at least has the distinction of having scored the most goals so he kinda has to be mentioned in these discussions.

    This english notion that Aguero was kind of a poacher is so fecking silly, Kun just became more lazy in the EPL and had proper midfielders so he started to play more upfront, yet when he dropped back he alwasy was class, as a kid he played too as "mediapunta", off midfielder.
    In his Independeinte days and Aleti he was a menace from any postion, he also focused more on dribbling and he had so many spectacular games were he even destroyed a prime Barca mostly on his own. I get that like I've said later in his carreer in EPL and also after every injury he became more statotionary, but the main trait with him was alwasy his all around game and technical ability to score from anywhere and capability to dribble his way throguh, I do agree that Kane it's more of a passer, yet also because he is not as good as a dribbler as Kun was.

    When talking about how many penalties a player scored it should be noted that Gerrard scored a lot of penalties and if you take those away he only scored the same number of goals as Paul Scholes, who played a deep lying play-maker role for over half of his career!!! So in summary when Scholes played further forward in his early career his goal scoring record was better than Gerrard! Which means that he was better than Gerrard in an attacking sense and he was also miles better as a play-maker, which became his strongest suit 👍
