I have a question because I have observed sales forces in small insurance and real estate companies. It seems like there are a few big fish that bring in the majority of business. It is probably 80-20. These big fish take up a lot of resources in the business. At a Christmas party, I remember one of these big fish spent quite a bit of time thanking staff. In fact, I wonder if businesses can't handle too many big fish, especially if the company structure is typical. Is this the most efficient way to spread the wealth among sales staff, or other departments, for that matter? Businesses are vulnerable if too much business is concentrated in too few hands. Plus, it is not great for morale. Just curious if you have any thoughts on this.
