The Sweetest Chill - Siouxsie and The Banshees (Guitar Cover)

- My cover of "The Sweetest Chill" by Siouxsie and The Banshees. Off of their 1986 album "Tinderbox". This is one of my all time favorite Siouxsie songs. It's so amazing. The guitar work - written and performed by John Valentine Carruthers, is SO brilliant. He was one of the Banshee's finest guitarists. He is a big influence on my playing, and is one of my favorite guitarists.
This song took me a while to learn. It's pretty difficult to play. You need to be able to reach far with your fingers and also you need to be able to barre over the frets. Lots of parts in this song. I learned by ear. If anyone wants to learn this song, let me know if you want me to make a tab or lesson video for it. I'm open to either.

Fantastic playing!!! Always loved that descending guitar part that starts at 2:08. Floored me the first time I heard it. One of my favorite guitar parts off all time tbh

This is also one of my favorite Banshees songs, Tinderbox is probably my favourite album, great cover man! I'm currently trying to learn Starcrossed, that song is like a "hidden gem" in the Banshees catalog

I love the song "Starcrossed". That seems like it's hard to figure out on guitar. I haven't tried to learn it. I hope learning it goes well for you!

@@MitchQuintana Tinderbox is also my favorite Banshees album. I was 16 when it was released and I listened to it constantly. Now, 35 years later I thought it might be fun to try and learn some of these songs and your video is very helpful! Thanks again and keep up the great work!
@@DomingoVoiceOver If you are interested in learning how to play some songs off of Tinderbox I actually have written a guitar tab for the song “Land’s End” on Tinderbox. Let me know if you’d like the link. The tab is the exact same way as I played it in my cover I did a few years ago here on YT.

@Stephen Rutherford Thanks! Maybe some day I will if I find the time. It’s a very tricky/difficult one to play. I learned it by ear. There’s one tab of this song on UltimateGuitar.com, but I’m not sure how accurate it is.

The guitar on this song is actually played by John Valentine Carruthers - NOT John McGeoch. He was the Banshees’ 5th guitarist from 1985-1987.

@Jesse Vega Thank you so much! I haven't personally made a tab for this (although I've made about 7-8 tabs for other Banshees songs). There is a pro tab on Ultimate Guitar.
