    Petrucci´s solo, the orchestra, the choir, the participation of the audience, and laBrie´s best performance ever makes me believe that this song at this concert is the epitome of Dream Theater, the perfect performance.

    • @as7river
      @as7river 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      No it wasn't. His voice is never awesome live. He fails to maintain notes. While I can't deny he definitely has his range where it needs to be, he never sustains it; at every single note he has this awful wah effect, it gets annoying at times.

    • @Goomie
      @Goomie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      By wah you probably mean vibrato. After his vocal injury I think it started to sound more like that. But he's right. It was 110% on this song. He absolutely blew it out of the water. I would have killed to see this show live.

      Elgoomtaf what vocal injury ?

    • @Goomie
      @Goomie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      He had food poisoning in the mid 90's I believe. He was sick and ended up rupturing his vocal cords from vomiting from what I gathered.

    • @petrucci973
      @petrucci973 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know right!! But since it's active pickups I've read and seen reviews that the battery drains really fast. So up, you'll need a budget for batteries too haha. The illuminators are great! Really expressive, like Petrucci said, you can feel the heavy presence of the guitar.. But in some songs I really prefer the crunch lab and liquid fire.. I love the density of the sound and how slight difference between both crunch lab and liquid fire. Hence why my Ibanez is upgraded by them. I'd love to own a jp6 BFR 2008 and a majesty one day. Fingers crossed to you too hah?

    • @Tivers
      @Tivers 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      abdulla noor I personally prefer the crunch lab and liquifier. while the illuminators have a great sound and are quite versatile, I just prefer the old ones. and I want a 7 string majesty, and a 6 string jp. that would be perfect.

    • @petrucci973
      @petrucci973 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree! I think owning a jp6 BFR with obviously crunch lab and liquifire and a majesty 7 string is pretty ideal! With a nice mesa bogie mark V and an axe-fx and a decent ground control, I'd be the happiest man on earth.

    Mangini and Portnoy are two totally different monsters. Both equally bad ass and deserve their just respect as artists and masters of their craft. There are things I love and miss about MP, but on the flip there are things a love and enjoy hearing MM do as a member of this band. I have alot of respect for MM to come in and do things his way and still deliver on every track be it live or in studio. I do miss MP as I am long time fan since the Majesty days but the road has twist and turns and DT has persevered through it all from Moore to Dereck and then pickig up Rudess and beyond. These guys are the real deal!!!

  • @TheHaldiron

    Such an amazing performance. It really had the original vibe that made us all fall in love with both the album and the song. And you can definitely see that JP is enjoying himself, a sight that makes me happy because it defies all those accusations of him being a shred machine. This shows that he is a soulful songwriter and completely immerses into his playing while on the stage, aside from his fenomenal skill. Oh, and that crowd moment at 4:45 is absolutely amazing.

      +Omair Sheikh Well, whever I see comments like yours I just watch any live performance and if you actually pay attention to Mangini you can see his emotions very clearly. He's smiling, he's head-banging and he's feeling the music. Who cares if he swings around with the sticks constantly or if he does some cool drum tricks. He DOES show emotion if you could just bother seeing it.

But, after awhile, I have put my personal differences aside and found love for my favorite band again. the tattoo on my left forearm is no longer a stain but a legacy. When I tell you to open your eyes you will return to the present,

    The blood still on my hands
    To think that she would leave me now
    For that ungrateful man

    No witness to the crime
    I must act fast to cover up
    I think that there's still time
    He'd seem hopeless and lost with this note
    They'll buy into the words that I wrote
    "This feeling inside me
    Finally found my love, I've finally broke free
    No longer torn in two
    I'd take my own life before losing you"
    Victoria:
    Feeling good this Friday afternoon
    I ran into Julian
    Said we'd get together soon
    He's always had my heart
    He needs to know
    I'll break free of the Miracle
    It's time for him to go
    This feeling inside me
    Finally found my love, I've finally broke free
    No longer torn in two
    He'd kill his brother if he only knew
    Their love renewed
    They'd rendezvous
    In a pathway out of view
    They thought no one knew
    Then came a shot out of the night
    The Sleeper:
    One last time
    We'll lay down today
    One last time
    Until we fade away
    One last time
    We'll lay down today
    One last time
    We fade away
    As their bodies lie still
    And the ending draws near
    Spirits rise through the air
    All their fears disappear, it all becomes clear
    A blinding light comes into view
    An old soul exchanged for a new
    A familiar voice comes shining through
    Nicholas:
    This feeling inside me
    Finally found my life, I'm finally free
    No longer torn in two
    I learned about my life by living through you
    This feeling inside me
    Finally found my life, I’m finally free
    No longer torn in two
    Living my own life by learning from you
    We’ll meet again my friend someday soon

    The polyrhythm beside a symphonic orchestra sounds better than a solo with all the liberty Portnoy had... I think the both are amazing drummers
