Well I'm gonna throw a wrench in. Yeah, he can play the part of portnoy. But he can't create shit that's appealing to me. The latter albums after portnoy sucked.
I used to be a James LaBrie hater, but in the past six months or so, I’ve seen so many of these live performances and listened to so much more of there music. I just can’t hate him. He’s a genuinely good guy, he cares, and he tries. Would love to meet him. Incredible performance from all of them here.
Have you ever listened to Live at the Marquee? Give it a check and you will realise why people throw so much hate to LaBrie's voice. He is a damn monster in that concert
"One last timeeeeeeee" sweeet lord the chills! What a magnificent performance, you guys are so great musicians, thank you so much for the magic you do!
I saw them in early 2020 and during finally free it was so intimate with the audience. When the "one last time" part came up the entire room was singing it with the house lights on. It was like nothing I've ever experienced. I didn't even realize till it was almost over that I had tears on my face and I looked at my sister and she was full on crying.
Having seen every tour since 2008, Dream Theater has head and shoulders raised the bar since moving to Sony Music Studios(Name check on Sony’s record label.). That’s not a dig at MP but I don’t doubt that has something to do with it. Recording Chaos in Motion in that way was his idea.
@@zacharymclean9571 The live audio has gotten so much better in recent years. The studio albums however are a bit of hit or miss. I happen to think Black Clouds is one of their best mixed studio albums.
Their soundmaster is one of the best ever. I saw them several times in different concert halls, big ones and smaller ones - the sound was always dense, brillant and never too loud!
They are in a class of their own. It's as simple as that. Their virtuosity and professionalism is profound. I love you guys. It's been a love affair ever since that fateful night back in 1992.
James LaBrie was impecable on this DVD live recording, what an outstanding and impassioned performance. I love his pronunciation of "torn into" like at 17:37.
This is f'n amazing. you guys killed it. Made my night, I can't believe how good it sounds and how tight you guys still are. That was absolutely fantastic. The quality of the sound, the performance, the string section, the choir, impeccable.
I knew James gets a lot of flak usually, but I think he sounds AWESOME in here. Not only a true showman, but also a killer performance everytime. Saw them live last December and they still rock on. Do feel as though Mangini looks a bit uptight in the first songs of this medley, but he's a machine, too. Love this band so much.
James was on point this tour. I saw them at red bank about 2 weeks before this show and him and the band were firing on all cylinders. Easily the best DT show I had seen over the years
I've loved DT since 91. Seen them tons of times, but James's voice is shaky . . . . hell he's in his 50's so its understandable. They just need to be smart with the setlists from now on.
@Riccardo Ivan Vangone No editing, I saw them during this tour and he performed very well. Not quite as good as in the studio, but I was especially impressed by his high notes during Illumination Theory. My only gripe was him shouting the last verse in Space Dye Vest, because aggressive vocals just don't fit that song in my opinion. My mom and sister who were unfamiliar with the band actually pointed out "I like the singer's voice" during that show. James has had bad gigs, but he was on point on this particular tour.
Saw them in the Philippines in 2017 for the first time in my life, when they played Surrounded, i just couldn't hold back the tears. The Images and Words album was my mom's uncle favourite album, and he used to play it alot, so i owe him for my love of Dream Theater. He was a very amazing guitar player too, he can play Steve Vai and Eric Johnson songs with ease. He passed away from cancer in the New Year of 2007. His spirit carries on, and his spirit guides my life each day. I miss him so much.
22:07 Little bit of a factoid there with James' feet. Notice how he's stepping in line with the tempo, steps a bit faster and gets off the beat, then shuffles his feet for the next phrase to get back on again, so he starts singing with a foot touching the ground. One of those little things that makes you remember that he's human and things like that help with a performance.
just fantastic, it's a privilege is enjoying this live, congratulations on your existence showing what really good music is. A big hug here from Brazil 🇧🇷👍
After ten years with DT, Mike Mangini is proving the haters are just gonna have to get over it. Mike Portnoy tried to re-join the band, but, for whatever reasons they said, "NO." Mangini is a perfect fit with the other members, and powerhouse on the drums. Yup, the haters just need to move on!
Was listening to dance of eternity. The music is super easy to follow, as long as you don't seek resonance or feel obligated to bang your head to the beats.
An Epiphany of Progressive Metal in this age of a loathing mediocre music world. Dream theater has been one of the few Bands that's keeping the Creativity, Imagination, Essence and Soul of their Genre!! Live on... Rock on Dream Theater!!
I’m going to have to agree with Elixear here, this band is frankly not as good as others that it draws comparisons to. In fact I would say crazy musicians like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion exhibit greater talent and rhythm than this band. Still though, I think this band still has great potential. 👍
@@Elixear Thanks for the comment E. but, with respect, there are very few bands in the history of progressive rock music which mesh this level of technical artistry with gripping melodies and tight musicianship. Rush, Yes, Kansas and fusion jazz greats Return to Forever would be among those bands in the conversation, certainly. But DT belongs right there, in my opinion.
merci Mike. magical drummer, great smile, great skills. wellcome back Portnoy but immortal respect for Mangini. for all of his carreer and for the futur. great band.

Twice i worked with you guys back in start 90th when you played in Copenhagen, it still stands as a fantastic experience… Unbelievable it’s almost 30 years ago.. Much love from Copenhagen 🇩🇰
Thank you. Today, I danced again. The moves I found on this album came back to me as if it was yesterday, despite of physical pain. The present, erased. A scene, from a memory, came back from the past. This is so "Meta"… Thank you to perform so well live ! Thank you for the healing this album provided, provides, will provide.
I’m really happy for all that do. I have tried so hard to like this type of music, but…… like I said SO many great comments. Truly happy for you all. ☮️🎼
an amazing show, I've never seen a band whose musical composition is complicated but still pleasant to hear, the quality of the personnel is above average. not bored to listen. all kinds of music genres are here, success always for dream theater, Idol band of all time
He is on the Mt. Rushmore of the bass guitar for sure but I only wish Myung for once would smile or show some type of emotion. I know he is playing technical stuff that requires concentration but have some feel... Geddy Lee, Billy Sheehan, Tony Levin, those guys make you feel the music. Then you see how they play and its mind blowing.

Indeed! And still he gets too much hate! I feel sorry for him!
from the "show" standpoint, it seems like he's having no fun at all playing... :(
Well I'm gonna throw a wrench in. Yeah, he can play the part of portnoy. But he can't create shit that's appealing to me. The latter albums after portnoy sucked.
@@docmartin9489 well.. That's Just Like, Your Opinion, Man...
@@docmartin9489 just shut tf up with the stupid nonsense
This was incredible. The live orchestra added so much!
I used to be a James LaBrie hater, but in the past six months or so, I’ve seen so many of these live performances and listened to so much more of there music. I just can’t hate him. He’s a genuinely good guy, he cares, and he tries. Would love to meet him. Incredible performance from all of them here.
Hate is a strong word.
Most incredible singer and songwriter alive. In concert, he sounds even more incredible.
Have you ever listened to Live at the Marquee? Give it a check and you will realise why people throw so much hate to LaBrie's voice. He is a damn monster in that concert
Hes so nice cause hes canadian 😉
@@juancarloscortesolea8926 Agreed. His more recent one in London 2020 was I feel was amazing. Pale Blue Dot
I didn't even realize till it was almost over that I had tears on my face and I looked at my sister and she was full on crying.
the only greater DT moment is when everyone yells "I!" in the count of tuscany :)
Who ever mixed that live concert, did an amazing job
Having seen every tour since 2008, Dream Theater has head and shoulders raised the bar since moving to Sony Music Studios(Name check on Sony’s record label.). That’s not a dig at MP but I don’t doubt that has something to do with it. Recording Chaos in Motion in that way was his idea.
@@zacharymclean9571 The live audio has gotten so much better in recent years. The studio albums however are a bit of hit or miss. I happen to think Black Clouds is one of their best mixed studio albums.
@@KLTrainz I happened to agree. It’s almost criminal that they haven’t played The Count of Tuscany live yet.
Their soundmaster is one of the best ever. I saw them several times in different concert halls, big ones and smaller ones - the sound was always dense, brillant and never too loud!
Exept that awful guitar tone.
They are in a class of their own. It's as simple as that. Their virtuosity and professionalism is profound. I love you guys. It's been a love affair ever since that fateful night back in 1992.
The Dream Theater completely changed my musical vision,,,,unrepeatable, as time goes by, I like their work more and more.....💖💚💖
Mike mangini one of my fav.drummer he deserve respect.. to be a part of dream thater. 🤘🥰
James was GREAT, he really deserves credit not many ppl can sing this kinds of songs.
Very well said! James is awesome!
I fuckin' love James, man. I wish I could give ALL of DT a big hug for getting me through these rough 4 years!!!!
He needed to be profoundly great for a show like this and he rose to the occasion. He really did sound great.
Yes he is a great singer !!
I'm so sick of people bashing him on other videos etc. Even the new live video they just put out for their upcoming dvd, the comments are ridiculous.
there are so many legendary musicians in the world that we know, such as, Beethoven, Mozart, and Dream Theater.....
0:00 - Overture 1928
3:39 - Strange Deja Vu
8:48 - The Dance of Eternity
15:06 - Finally Free
I'm just playing this on a loop for hours on end..just amazing
James LaBrie was impecable on this DVD live recording, what an outstanding and impassioned performance. I love his pronunciation of "torn into" like at 17:37.
Still the best album of all time!!!!
I've seen them every tour of Australia, and the most recent was definitely his best vocal performance
@@ericdraven234 I'm guessing you never saw him in the 90's
@Riccardo Ivan Vangone No editing, I saw them during this tour and he performed very well. Not quite as good as in the studio, but I was especially impressed by his high notes during Illumination Theory. My only gripe was him shouting the last verse in Space Dye Vest, because aggressive vocals just don't fit that song in my opinion. My mom and sister who were unfamiliar with the band actually pointed out "I like the singer's voice" during that show. James has had bad gigs, but he was on point on this particular tour.
Finally Free is an incredible song.
What a brilliant performance from musicians at the top of their game!
I'm bawling like an idiot. This is the best thing I've ever watched, and I've seen them in concert twice.
No, you're not. I did the same. I should've seen them last April but postponed due to Covid. So yeah, it's kind of rehearsal for me 😂
I'm bawling because I've only seen them once.
Try this Devin Townsend's 3 songs (Funeral, Bastard and Death of Music)
/watch?v=1oJEBGHCdBQ
Only one consert for me, in 95 best one ive seen live.
This whole piece of concert is freaking umbelievable.
If man will send a message to extra terrestrial beings through music, I will vote to have this Band do the job.
Benar memang ini theater impian.
Sungguh theater yang indah
My god this is so beautiful! I got tears in my eyes outside blaring this on the JBL at 11:30 at night 😭

Little bit of a factoid there with James' feet.
Falou tudo, my friend.
how to
We all know how good DT are, however can we all just take a minute to appreciate how much better JP's hair line is looking??? :))
First concert I ever went was of this tour in Rio de Janeiro. Seeing my favorite band live was an experience I'll never forget!
Remarkable. The level of musicianship is frankly unprecedented.
Unfortunately not. There are thousands of other magnificent talents on the planet, in every musical style. Many many precedents for decades... ;)
@@kevinkilduff2064 I can also understand your point of view.
merci Mike. magical drummer, great smile, great skills. wellcome back Portnoy but immortal respect for Mangini. for all of his carreer and for the futur. great band.
I like how the accompanying musicians are thoroughly enjoying the show
SO cool to see the chorus singers having so much fun and really getting into it.
The one and only DT. I love you guys. Best musicians on the planet.
i wish i can give thousands of likes. This is an authentic masterpiece
This one, is absolutely breathtaking
Everybody's a mathematician untill Dance of Eternity starts
*everyone gangsta until petrooch starts clapping*
If the Dance of Eternity would be a lecture, I would be so happy to passed with D+
😅😅
props to the orchestra
learned dance of eternity on drums... took about half a year to get it up and running
Magnificent Master's of their art! They're so amazing,...most people can't grasp the concept, of how truly amazing they are!!! 😉
Agh... this is SO good!! Thanks so much for posting this, it's so nostalgic and I can't help but keep smiling through it!
Absolutely Wonderful from the Best Prog Metal Band on the Planet , along with an Incredible Orchestra & Choir ❤🤟
Jan 26, 2022... The world is unbelievably bleak, but the new music video you released had me go down my Dream Theater rabbit hole once again, and now all is well with my consciousness. Thank you so much!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
They are another level.. Dream theater not making hits but masterpiece !
Фанатею от них уже 27 лет, слушаю бесконечно!!!! Лучшие в мире!!! Единственная группа, которая никогда мне не надоест!!! Это фантастическая музыка!!!

In my opinion, this is the best of the best of this music genre and it doesn't get any better than this. This infinitely fantastic sound structure creates tears of joy in me and enriches my playing on the flamenco guitar.
I am a flamenco guitarist.
Probably the finest 27 minutes of live music of all time
Twice i worked with you guys back in start 90th when you played in Copenhagen, it still stands as a fantastic experience…
Unbelievable it’s almost 30 years ago..
Much love from Copenhagen 🇩🇰
This band has set standards that have defined Prog Metal for decades to come. Legends in their own time.
Thank you. Today, I danced again. The moves I found on this album came back to me as if it was yesterday, despite of physical pain. The present, erased. A scene, from a memory, came back from the past. This is so "Meta"… Thank you to perform so well live ! Thank you for the healing this album provided, provides, will provide.
An absolute masterpiece.
Nothing in this world can give you goosebumps if this doesn't give you.
I’m really happy for all that do. I have tried so hard to like this type of music, but…… like I said SO many great comments. Truly happy for you all. ☮️🎼
I've heard that James isn't that good of a vocalist, but no one can deny that 50+ years old man singing like this is truly amazing
an amazing show, I've never seen a band whose musical composition is complicated but still pleasant to hear, the quality of the personnel is above average. not bored to listen. all kinds of music genres are here, success always for dream theater, Idol band of all time
One of the best band from beginning to end 👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Myung spawns some extra fingers every now and then.
I spawn an extra leg every now and then.
@@tynewlin ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He's my fave in Dream theater
I know
He is on the Mt.
