Q: What server am I playing Arma games on, who are these people, and can you join?
A: It's the private server for my community, Shack Tactical. As of 2015 we've been around for over nine years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - we have a fantastic memberbase and it makes for amazing gameplay in Arma and elsewhere. You can read more about us here: www.shacktac.com

A: We do a mix of about 70% adversarial and 30% coop - both offer unique experiences and are a blast to play.
Q: How long have you been playing the Arma series?
A: I've been here from the start, with my Operation Flashpoint experience beginning with the demo's release in 2001. I went into the US Marine Corps shortly after (no relation!) and in 2004 I started playing OFP in multiplayer. 2006 saw me found ShackTac, which started in OFP and then transitioned through Arma 1, Arma 2, and finally, Arma 3. I hope to continue this for a long time into the future, as well as share the ride with viewers like you, as corny as that sounds!

Even in the most cold and remote of places, the sea demands sacrifice. Freakin love Namalsk, such an eerie atmosphere that no matter the OP I still always expect zombies to pop out at some point.
No game makes me feel cold and wet quite like Arma. Something about the atmosphere is just perfect.

I used to play a little day z on that map, and I was sooo happy whenever I found a winter suit. I would just chill in the snow all the time :D

Man, I love this map! The ambient sounds are so damn atmospheric. The DayZ version also had really eery screams... dat melancholy :3
+HorstEwald Than i reccomend you to check out the namalsk crisis story mod, which comes with the map. It is one of the best Story mods, that i have played in Arma2 ;)
+HorstEwald There are voices on the wind in certain points in this mission, after the boat landing. It's eerie as f***, I love it.

The swimming problem is actually quite common on Namalsk. At least in Arma 2.
Guess it carried over to Arma 3 as well.
this video had everything, Kevbo dies, seamonsters, trying to swim without floaties, crap loads of close range fire, angry BTR's, poor leadership decisions, and pre-fngs getting their first dose of PTSD... (p.s. should is my favorite word also)

You should try Laxemann's sonic crack standalone sound pack. No impact on performance and is a firefight game changer.
He changed the sound of near, medium and far cracks so you can tell how accurate the incoming fire is and it sounds awesome.

I`ve seen you use high capacity magazines in the A3 videos (100rn Beta C mags for ARs, 50rnd mags for FALs and 45rnd mags on AKs). Is there any practicular reason for this?
That will only happen if Dsl has taken an AR role. Non-ARs will be toting the appropriate smaller magazine.
Note that in the case of compatible weapons (eg AK74/RPK74, M4/M27, etc) use of higher capacity mags is also a useful technique in emergencies.
+Cameron McDonald Ah, totally forgot about the AR role, but using an FAL as AR is like using a BAR in ww2 with a 50rnd box magazine :D. Anyway thanks for clearing that up.
Noted :) But I`ve just seen him carrying more high capacity mags from the start of the mission hence the confusion on my part. And the guns did not look like M27s and RPKs but that could be caused by lack of models ported.
+GABRIEL506 Ah, well spotted. I forgot to mention, the other time you'll be carrying high capacity magazines is as AAR. You're not meant to use them, however, unless you've ended up on the AR itself!

Can I just mention that the stamina system seems highly over exaggerated. A short swim like that, even with heavy gear on you shouldn't tire out a fit trained soldier that quickly.
+pkisbest I think it's a suitable compromise since there's no "immediately sink to the bottom due to all the stuff you're carrying" feature in ArmA. Swimming in body armour is nigh-on impossible, let alone a helmet, a combat load and an M136.
