This is one of the best missions I've played in Arma recently, so if you have the opportunity to watch all the way through, you'll have a good time. For those that don't have an hour to spare, I've put a table of contents up for this one - it just gets crazier as it goes on.
"For his actions under fire, that reflect great credit upon himself, the US Marine Corps and the Sea Service, SSGT Dslyecxi is posthumously awarded the Navy Cross."
That Broken Arrow was the finest thing I've ever seen. The Way Command worded it, man, that was amazing. BEST video I've seen from you in a long time, all your vids are good, but this one is just amazing.
My son and I watch 90% of your content..we especially love the mini movies like this one...Bottle of soda, bowl of popcorn, feet up and we enjoy.... Love this one...many intense moments...WTG !
Out of all the videos I've seen, this one sticks out the most. The way people died, and the way in ended was a truly Awesome and scary thing to watch. You had me at the edge of the seat. Well done Dslyecxi
That was freaking legit. A video providing the standard for all other communities, exactly how a cooperative mission should be emulated. Thanks for everything you do Dslyecxi!
I've had this game since the very beginning. I have played it for some hours now, but it is so intimidating. So much to learn. After watching this I REALLY want to learn the game and play in some organized missions. Y'all look like you had a lot of fun! Great video! Gave me inspiration to get back into this phenomenal game! Thank you very much for sharing! Sub'd!!!
+Dslyecxi can you add a player count to the description? it's nice knowing the scale of these videos, this one felt like you had at least 70 people on your side.
Man, just think how much angrier I'd be that I don't have a decent computer if this excellent AI scheme could be added to Arma 3! Excellent stuff, I love all of these videos. Someday...
That moment when Air came in to support Alpha 2 I was cheering a little. Then that holdout in the building. Finally you sacrifice yourself covering the retreat. This mission was INTENSE!
When you were looking for holes in the compound walls near the beginning, I couldn't help but think how handy a wall scaling/climbing mod would be. Plausible? Or just another arma pipe dream that would not be practical/usable/possible?
Dslyecxi, have you ever thought about what you'd want your last Arma 2 mission to be? Someday(Not for a loooong time I imagine, and hope), you'll play your last Arma 2 mission. Either you'll be done with these sort of things, or simply fade to another platform. How would you like to finish?
This was a epic video... it just kept getting better and better every 5 minutes, until the last 10 minutes where it was becoming more epic every 10 seconds. well worth the hour viewing time.
That's one hell of a lucky Venom extract for Apha. Where it first landed - short of the crane by about 20m, it was completely exposed due NE. Miracle it didn't get RPG'd or mowed by MG fire.
Really, most of your videos are a treat, but this one takes the cake in recent memory :D Awesome, lenght, epic action and that ending sequence was just pure gold - scripted shooters and action movies DON'T have that sort of stuff happening :)
At about 54:40 the guy on the second floor made me laugh so much... "There's another one on the second floor to the left, TURN AROUND DUSTER TURN AROUND!" "Oh god..." I died...
BishopNick survived! Dslyecxi's charred remains can rest easy knowing that at least. Did everybody else alive make it out though? I only saw like two guys from Bravo and Charlie get onto the transport at the end, and there was like 7 of them checked in at 1:11:00-ish.
Also, have you tried coop missions against squads and vehicles commanded by players? Let's say in a pool of 100 players, 10 get chosen to command AI squads and pilot/command a few vehicles. It wouldn't have the same cat and mouse intensity of adversarial, but it would be more dangerous without the need to flood the players in AI to make it challenging. Imagine the impact of a single well commanded squad or SPG-UAZ instead of them running/driving right into the players for a duck shooting session. Or MI-8s really droping troops in good positions instead of flying overhead to be shot down by AR fire
Final question: Is there any russian/soviet/opfor/indep heli/mission envelope that would be interesting for you to pilot close to the roles of the Littlebird? Maybe the Gazelle/Bell 47 that I've seen that has a few weapons on it? I also remember a Mi-2 for OFP that was very sweet.
Can I ask what exactly a "broken arrow" is in military terms (or at least in shaktac terms) because google on comes up with references to nuclear wars or disasters and I doubt those take place in your campaigns and I was wondering why these "broken arrows" seem to be saved rather than used all the time if they're improtant.
I'm looking for an old shacktac video, a bunch of members playing an arma 2 version of murder mystery where people that are suspected murderers. get voted to an ai firing squad while the murderer kills people when the screen turns black for everyone except him. I'm not sure whether dslyecxi uploaded that...spent a hour looking...
***** That was a mission we used to play in Arma 1, I don't think it was in Arma 2. It was called "Mafia". As far as I know, I've never made a video of it. Maybe that'll help you search for it?
***** Well, after browsing through >20 ShackTac-related channels, I've given up...I don't know where I saw this vid of the gamemode, but it looked quite interesting and I was determined to find it again :/
I really love playing Arma 2 but I can only run it on really low settings because I have a really bad laptop...how much do you think it would cost me for a decent enough computer to be able to play Arma 2/3?
Derek McLaughlin tell me about it. I'm using an MSI GS70 Stealth Pro. It runs it on High with some tweaking (thank Tyr for a cooling pad, otherwise this thing heats up like a bitch) at 60fps in SP and at whatever FPS it wants in MP. While I'm able to get decent-ish graphics while still putting out a tolerable framerate, I'm goddamn better be able to for $2000. Honestly, however, you could easily build a similar rig on desktop for half that price. My initial point still stands - nothing can run it well xD As Dslyecxi once said: "I'll make 60fps videos if you''ll make ArmA run at 60fps"
One thing i'm curious about is: How many of shacktac's members are ex servicemen, and did the servicemen train the casual gamers on how the military works?
***** I paused the video and came straight to the comments after that CFIT. I think someone is up for a little mandatory refresher training with a certain training video.
SPOILERS So did you think your sacrifice at the end saved your team? Or do you think it was just bad luck for him deciding to unload a clip into the smoke ?
Drake Kidd I'm no Dslyecxi, but I will throw in a wild guess that he didn't expect to get RPGd there. Although it probably did help the team after all - the RPG and the MG fire that cut him down didn't shoot at the others for the time being.
***SPOILER ALERT*** So before your kevbo run out that ultimately sealed your fate, you called for a headcount and got eight (inclusive of yourself). The final scene shows just two boarding the chopper - did no one else make it? RIP
This is one of the best missions I've played in Arma recently, so if you have the opportunity to watch all the way through, you'll have a good time. For those that don't have an hour to spare, I've put a table of contents up for this one - it just gets crazier as it goes on.
***** Sinatra reference :)
it was partly the pfng's fault he laid down with no cover it was only a matter of time....
I WANT THIS GAME SO BAD! But I don't have the money for a PC that can run it 😔
Danny Lopez i can run it on my laptop.... at about 6 fps
***** well its a Sinatra song to me
"For his actions under fire, that reflect great credit upon himself, the US Marine Corps and the Sea Service, SSGT Dslyecxi is posthumously awarded the Navy Cross."
thats not a halo quote reworded is it....
pkisbest part of the actual citation for the Navy Cross award
pkisbest hahaha no, just... no.
Even though I died in that small compound, I can't help but feel like I was a part of something greater :D nice to see my death wasn't for nothing.
G-G-G-G-GHOST
MinaBoss94 LIKE, ZOINKS!
That was super intense! Feeling slightly guilty for being the only pfng in A1 to live lol
That Broken Arrow was the finest thing I've ever seen. The Way Command worded it, man, that was amazing. BEST video I've seen from you in a long time, all your vids are good, but this one is just amazing.
*Helicopter crashes into ground* Dslyecxi: "I just did a video on that!"
33:30 Connecting the dots: I know see the reason for the Art of flight, target fixation video XD
I really appreciate you pointing out key points in the desc.
Watched it all the way through and all I can say is holy shit that was amazing. Keep up the great work Dslyecxi.
Loved the contents, the chaos, and how close you were from getting out of there alive! Looked like great fun for everyone, you did a good job.
Absolutely amazing. Top-notch work. This'll be a mission to remember for all time!
That was freaking legit. A video providing the standard for all other communities, exactly how a cooperative mission should be emulated. Thanks for everything you do Dslyecxi!
i love these shacktac movies. keep up the good stuff, dslyecxi
Jesus... this was the video of mysterious deaths. First you had Cinni take a random bullet during that crossfire, and then Astrix took stray fire.
well at least the pFNG lived and that's all that matters.
That was a great mission - The outtro really stood out though. Loved the sound effect and the camera angles.
16:31 That sound the explosion made was awesome!
Sub'd!!!
This was an amazing Video! Heart breaking at the end and I can't even say how many times I got on the edge of my seat! This is why Arma is so Amazing!
At 36.30 i started singing "too many callsigns" with the too many cooks song, the amount of people in that bunker was amazing.
I've watched hundreds of hours of ShackTac videos, and I have to say, this one is a gem. The ending had my pulse racing.
Also. @1:08:18 nice landing by respectd
Thanks for the bookmarks, very helpful!
+Dslyecxi can you add a player count to the description? it's nice knowing the scale of these videos, this one felt like you had at least 70 people on your side.

DeLaRuuu true i was just reading off from where he put up the platoon roster in game
Man, just think how much angrier I'd be that I don't have a decent computer if this excellent AI scheme could be added to Arma 3!
Excellent stuff, I love all of these videos. Someday...
Awesome vid as always dslyecxi
Excellent mission (as always, really). Was really fun to watch. Hope my own community ever rises to that scale and quality.
That moment when Air came in to support Alpha 2 I was cheering a little. Then that holdout in the building. Finally you sacrifice yourself covering the retreat. This mission was INTENSE!
Wow! what an emotional ending. Amazing!
Watched the whole thing. It was awesome.
This was an amazing mission, loved the terrain.
Wow loved every minute of it,absolutely Epic
When you were looking for holes in the compound walls near the beginning, I couldn't help but think how handy a wall scaling/climbing mod would be. Plausible? Or just another arma pipe dream that would not be practical/usable/possible?
This looks like it'll be a good one. Time to get as comfy as possible.
Dslyecxi, have you ever thought about what you'd want your last Arma 2 mission to be? Someday(Not for a loooong time I imagine, and hope), you'll play your last Arma 2 mission. Either you'll be done with these sort of things, or simply fade to another platform. How would you like to finish?
awesome shit as usual dslyecxi there is nothing more that can be said for your videos, really enjoy your work.
This was a epic video... it just kept getting better and better every 5 minutes, until the last 10 minutes where it was becoming more epic every 10 seconds. well worth the hour viewing time.
***** A bit surreal there at the very end, watching the extract. Almost like a guardian angle making sure your boys made it home alive.
That's one hell of a lucky Venom extract for Apha. Where it first landed - short of the crane by about 20m, it was completely exposed due NE. Miracle it didn't get RPG'd or mowed by MG fire.
Fantastic, just awesome
Really, most of your videos are a treat, but this one takes the cake in recent memory :D Awesome, lenght, epic action and that ending sequence was just pure gold - scripted shooters and action movies DON'T have that sort of stuff happening :)
For maximum enjoyment, begin playing "We'll Meet Again" at exactly 1:11:44
At about 54:40 the guy on the second floor made me laugh so much...
"There's another one on the second floor to the left, TURN AROUND DUSTER TURN AROUND!" "Oh god..." I died...
That was one badass pilot landing right before he passed out. 👍. rSPCTD is one badass mofo!
hehe... "are you a medic?" "He's got medical stuff!" :)
wow that shell in the face is brutal af
+Dslyecxl One of the best missions i've seen. Also, enjoyed "Going to the Farm". Thanks for giving us these great videos.
BishopNick survived! Dslyecxi's charred remains can rest easy knowing that at least.
Did everybody else alive make it out though? I only saw like two guys from Bravo and Charlie get onto the transport at the end, and there was like 7 of them checked in at 1:11:00-ish.
That ending was really intense
That was crazy, at the end there, I would have just kept running instead of laying down fire in the open, but you will get a medal one day...
That was fricken awesome. nothing more to say.
Fuck me man! That was the craziest shit I've seen in a long time. Sucks though that you got hit DIRECTLY with an RPG :(
well...that medic "taking care" of asterix seemed shady as hell... I heard no enemy gunfire :)
Questions in general not pertaining to this video (haven't watched yet): Why do you guys never use burst fire mode of the M-16 in close contact?
Also, have you tried coop missions against squads and vehicles commanded by players? Let's say in a pool of 100 players, 10 get chosen to command AI squads and pilot/command a few vehicles. It wouldn't have the same cat and mouse intensity of adversarial, but it would be more dangerous without the need to flood the players in AI to make it challenging. The end felt like it should've had Sgt. MacKenzie playing, I swear.
That was incredible.
Can I ask what exactly a "broken arrow" is in military terms (or at least in shaktac terms) because google on comes up with references to nuclear wars or disasters and I doubt those take place in your campaigns and I was wondering why these "broken arrows" seem to be saved rather than used all the time if they're improtant.
its code for a unit thats about to be overrun
is there going to be a spring sell on arma 3 these year?
That...was...awesome!
That littlebird pilot that pancaked, needs to watch your video on Target Fixation maybe, or was he shot out of it?
Snipersight00 He did a bad dive. He flew it right into the ground. The target fixation video describes how to avoid what happened with him.
Dslyecxi, do you and ShackTac play together with other Clans sometimes for a joint operation mission?
talicadk Not currently.
27:20
*tracer flies by*
*sound of impact*
"OW"
well that was an interesting battle :P
really considering applying to ShackTac now :)
lol, 33:15 now I see why you put out that target fixation video :P
That exfil though!
Wow, that was fucking epic! but why didn't you all just cram into the little bird, was there not enough room??
LJMpictures It was an attack helo, there was only one other seat in it.
lol "2 where are you?" um I'm pretty sure we're surrounded"
I think I got PTSD from watching your video Playing,Time,Start, the Destruction
start this video with MAX volume
So son, why do you want to join the Army? "I want to blow shit up sir".
I'm looking for an old shacktac video, a bunch of members playing an arma 2 version of murder mystery where people that are suspected murderers. get voted to an ai firing squad while the murderer kills people when the screen turns black for everyone except him. I dont think that was Mr Lyecxi
***** That was a mission we used to play in Arma 1, I don't think it was in Arma 2. It was called "Mafia". As far as I know, I've never made a video of it. Maybe that'll help you search for it?
***** it helps to know that it is arma 1, I wasn't sure, I simply remembered sahrani/rahmadi - now I'll just narrow my search, cheers
***** Well, after browsing through >20 ShackTac-related channels, I've given up...I don't know where I saw this vid of the gamemode, but it looked quite interesting and I was determined to find it again :/
*****
Found it, it's an old video so the editing is a little wacky th-cam.com/video/v-ao3lsqdHk/w-d-xo.html#t=2769
Watching cas from the ground instead of up in the chopper is kinda awe-inspiring. Until it goes down in flames at least.
NOOOOO, you died suppressing fire for bravo to cross!!! Cri erytim!!
I really love playing Arma 2 but I can only run it on really low settings because I have a really bad laptop...how much do you think it would cost me for a decent enough computer to be able to play Arma 2/3?
BlueTwentyTwo one million dollars. Nothing can run ArmA well.
Killjoy MSI Gaming laptops do a decent job, with that said I will need 50 super computers to run this game to its max potential.
As Dslyecxi once said: "I'll make 60fps videos if you''ll make ArmA run at 60fps"
Killjoy You really are a kill joy.
a7i20ci7y your comment makes no sense.
What a finish.
How many players were in this mission?
One thing i'm curious about is: How many of shacktac's members are ex servicemen, and did the servicemen train the casual gamers on how the military works?
15:33 dat grenade
AMAZING
did you get a different mic dslyecxi?
Momma Dog This is a temporary one, I have something else that sounds much nicer that I'll be using from here on out.
oh great!
Yes his old one was on the fritz and he got a new one like a month ago
At 1:00:00 it seems like your giving the orders now captain .
What does PFNG mean?
"pre Fucking New Guy"
***** why is air support not helping that much? you need booming runs like B-1B and B52, F-117 Nighthawk.
lppbondo Why? So we can just sit around and watch bombs explode and not actually do anything enjoyable?
wrong it save man and help on last stand. when you get over run. and the bomb hit the right is hard to do. it make a challenge for pilot to do.
lppbondo Not as intense with you know you are practically invincible.
not really invincible against AA guns or lock-on missile.
I'm talking about infantry
Did this have pfngs?
Several.
:) thanks
Was the Red team pFNG or something?
There was 1 pFNG in red and 2 in green
Nick Drake figures
At about 20:50 when Asterix Died, Im sure an EI shot him :P. Also i was expecting an "RPG RPG!!" then a bang...
so sad:( but awesome video
IDK. That didn't look like target fixation. He was still pretty steep when he met the ground. Maybe got hit. Anyone ask the pilot yet?
It was improper diving technique as a result of not knowing the performance of the aircraft, which was covered in my most recent AOF.
***** I paused the video and came straight to the comments after that CFIT.
I think someone is up for a little mandatory refresher training with a certain training video.
Just needs a montage of nukes detonating at the end...
SPOILERS

Killjoy Unlike in his Insurgency Video where he got RPG'd nearly every time
pkisbest "Watch out! RPG!"
ADVscout xD That was the best insurgency video ever
Whats an MSR
Main Supply Route . . . a main/major road.
Alright cheers mate.
That CAS pilot was nt a happy camper.
Whats MSR mean? At 0:32 he said "We need to stay NW of the MSR."
Bibnickle1 Main Supply Route (i.e., key road)
Fucking Epic
WOW!!!!!!
Why do I feel like I should install this and play it, instead of ARMA 3? It looks a little more.. polished? Movement looks far more natural in this
noob question: are you playing pvp or pve?
***** This is vs AI (aka "cooperative").
***** You know, it's kind of admirable you still answer these. I would have quit a long time ago.
Lololol "No~~~" "Oh no~~~" in everywhere.
What happened at 33:30? Did the bird hit? Or pilot passed out?
MrSupasonics Target fixation. The pilot committed to the dive too much and had no chance to pull out of that.
***** Trying too long to kill the enemy without realizing you're about to nose dive into the Earth.
MrSupasonics Bird strike. I'm gonna help the pilot save face and assume it was bird strike!
***SPOILER ALERT***
So before your kevbo run out that ultimately sealed your fate, you called for a headcount and got eight (inclusive of yourself). The final scene shows just two boarding the chopper - did no one else make it? RIP
thats was hair raising, i got the sweats. geez!!!!
