    There aren't enough videos on TH-cam for coilovers installation on the RS. You're doing the world a great service sir lol

    also a good way to split the knuckle to remove the strut is to undo the pinch bolt and insert a thick washer into the groove and rethread pinch bolt until it spreads it enough for the knuckle to drop.

  • @nafsucof
    @nafsucof 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I cut holes over my strut tops to access adjustments. A little metal etching primer and black spray and they look factory. You can access the holes through the shroud vents.

      Can you make adjustment to your chamber and damping via the hole?

    Are these still going strong a year later? Does Brandon still have them on his Focus RS?

    I installed the pedders coilovers in my focus rs but they wont go lower than 1 inch in front . Perches arr all the way down , so im not sure what its going on as pedders says 1" to 3" lower than stock

    what people do with the ST's is drill a 2-3in hole in the strut bar to adjust the springs without needing to take a bunch of stuff off the car everytime. all you do is remove the plastic vents and you have access :)

    Hope that makes the ride SOFTER. Actually looking to put some on mine lol. Also, anyone that doesnt slam their car may not have issues with clearance with the braces.

    The big question that hasn't been asked, how is the ride quality over stock? Hoping it's softer

  • @daddz07

    Question? do you think this RS will last just like any other car like a Corolla that surely can last for 500k miles? just curious. Nothing against RS. I am asking because i would like to buy one.

    Does unhooking the adjustable dampening throw any codes? Do you have to have an eliminator?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gwagb27 yes, it will throw a code. This kit was a prototype at the time they provide eliminators now to correct the issue.

    so how is the camber suppose to help. I have never done it to a car.

    • @badams0311
      @badams0311 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      vagueaxis more negative camber will help the whole tire surface be planted in a turn. If you have too little static camber, the tire will roll over the shoulder and only be using the outer edge of the tire. Long story short, more tire contact in a turn for traction and better wear on the tire. Really only needed for the track

    • @gymaprilia
      @gymaprilia 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      badams0311 yo thank man. all i always just see honda that over do it. that's y I never paid attention to it or even looked it up. my thought was if you run a wider tires you get better traction & balance

    • @badams0311
      @badams0311 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      vagueaxis somewhat. There's a lot that comes into play with how you set things up, what you plan on doing, and what's your personal preference. Even running a wider tire with very little camber and you will run into the same issues with rollover. So it kind of defeats the purpose. If you look for some rs video reviews on the track, you will see the shoulder of the stock tire ripped to shreds, and the rest of the tire looks untouched.

    Any CEL from the OEM damper adjustment?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Angel Lugo Watch the end of the video we explain all of that.

    • @badams0311
      @badams0311 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angel Lugo only when you try to go to track mode, it will tell you the mode isn't available. A trick is to select track mode, then quickly hit the button on the stalk to set the dampers to normal mode. Pedders will be coming out with a resistor of sorts to defeat it

    • @Speedybe
      @Speedybe 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blake's Garage i Think i missed it watch'd the video twice, so whats the deal with that ?
      Also what would you prefer lowering springs or coilovers ?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Winckels Brandon covered it in the message above. They will make a resistor to bypass the issue but it only happens when you turn on the sport dampening. You just quickly hit the damper selection button and then it will stay in your selected drive mode. Resistors will be coming out soon to fix this issue. I would prefer a coil overs as you have way more adjustability.

    • @scoobysid04
      @scoobysid04 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blake's Garage did they come out with a resistor yet? I’m getting some fortune auto 510s in a few months

      GoodToMyself to me I don't think of it as a Focus so I just call it an RS. Just like how I don't call my WRX an Impreza.

    why would you install coilovers you're removing the factory drive modes

    • @badams0311
      @badams0311 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthias McCarthy for more static camber. The drive modes are still there and work fine. All you lose is the dampening from the stock struts.

    • @nkaragou
      @nkaragou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gli_Fahrenheit the team that designed the focus mk1 suspension moved from ford to vw in order to design the golf mk5 suspension...
      so, technically, vw copies a lot of ford parts...

    • @jose15238
      @jose15238 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol the mk1 focus and vw mk5 are very different. when ford tests the st/rs they bring a Gti with them.

    • @nkaragou
      @nkaragou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gli_Fahrenheit indeed they are different...
      ford produced the focus mk1 in 1998 and it took vw 7 years to come up with a car that was rival in terms of driving pleasure... and that only after they employed the team that designed the focus suspension...
      about the golf gti being the benchmark... in 1998 that the mk1 focus was introduced, do you remember which golf was in production?
      the mk4... do you think it was the benchmark that ford tried to imitate?
