THANK YOU for showing us this wonderful ship and bringing her out of obscurity. I had no idea the Adriatic was so beautiful inside. I never expected to see motion picture footage of her. Your are absolutely right: we can design elements that would appear in slightly different form on the Olympic and Titanic. I saw a documentary once about the Titanic and one of the people interviewed said the Titanic "...was evolutionary not revolutionary" and this video clearly shows a process of developing design.
+Andrew Brendan The only thing new about TITANIC was her size and perhaps the Grand Staircases, A la Carte Restaurant, and Cafe Parisian. The overall look and feel of the ship was not new to experienced White Star passengers.
@@iluvcamaros1912 From September 1919 to December 1921, Adriatic was again placed on the Southampton-Cherbourg-New York service, actually serving with Olympic from June 1920 until December 1921.
On her maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York via Queenstown (now Cobh) in May 1907, Adriatic carried a total of 2,502 passengers; 365 in first class, 335 in second class, and 1,802 in third class.
I might have missed it on your channel but if you haven't done so may I suggest SS Suevic? She has a rather intriguing story behind her which demonstrated the quality craftsmanship of H&W.
Perhaps it's a vestige of what the "bridge" originally was on early steam ships: a literal bridge between the two paddle wheels on either side of the ship, located more in the center of the ship, elevated above the main deck, not connected to any superstructure other than the paddle wheel housings.
It was because the separation allowed access to the cargo hold that lay between the bridge and the long superstructure. This ship, and about seven others like her from that time, all had four masts to support the cargo booms for a number of different cargo holds. This ship had an impressive 6 cargo holds, and all of them, except the one directly in front of the bridge, had their cargo handling gear supported by one of the four masts.
Nadine Gomes de Oliveira She is the finest of four because she was the final ship in a quartet of liners built for the White Star Line known as the “Big Four”. She had the finest and most luxurious interiors of all her sister ships.
@@carlosiiideespana3712 Adriatic had features that were later put into the Olympic and her sisters, like a gymnasium, a Turkish bath, and the first swimming pool on an ocean liner.
Absolute palace,I would have loved to sail on her!

Extremely impressive video. Many of the photos and almost all of the video was new to me. Well done.
+jec1ny I stumbled upon them in an online archive and almost felt obligated to share them.
The footage was brand new to me as well, first time I've ever seen one of The Big Four on film I believe!
What a gorgeous liner. For the 1900’s she was a cut above the rest.

keep up the good work.
you sir,are one of the best people that have ever made a slideshow.

Great Video
Great video - thanks!
I wish ships like this are back in the 20s and ill drive one
It looks more pretty ❤️
I like how it has a double bridge (which one was in the front and the other was on the back of the 1st one)
Favourite pre Olympic class ship 😍
6th Guards Semenov Mine is the Oceanic of 1899 but Adriatic II and the rest of the big four are also interesting
I'd say SS Amerika (1905) of HAPAG but if we are limited to only White Star I'd go with RMS Adriatic.
My fav ship in tiny sailors was adriatic
its so beautiful
Fun fact it was the fastest going 17 knots which was the fastest of the big four
RMS Celtic 16 Knots
RMS Cedric 17 Knots
RMS Baltic 18 Knots
RMS Adriatic 18 Knots
Given the time period this ship was incredible. Given how things are in 2021 I’m not sure if our technology is having a positive impact.

And now you got your suggest
Iluvcamaros: hold my exploded bow.
Shes like the first ship off dreams befor Titanic
The only improvement to this would be pics of Second and Third Class accommodation.
Unusual design. I wonder what reason they had for separating the bridge from the rest of the superstructure.
shuichiboy Yeah the Oceanic of 1899 had the bridge incorporated into the superstructure as did the Olympic class but the big four didn’t.

Robert Bird: 😱😱😱😱😱😱

What the heck i dint know about this ship
Insides look like Titanics
Mr2013Drew Yeah at 2:41 the smoking room of Titanic and Olympic have those walls with the arches and stained glass
@@GuillaumeB7 sow is the R&W room
Its Because the design of the intetiors onboard Titanic,Olympic,Britannic was originally came from Older ships
