  • Step-by-step Maxxair fan install, mistakes and all. It took me a few days of on and off work to finish as I had some minor problems but overall this is a quite easy job even for people with no prior experience. Check out all the problems I had and everything that I learned. The fan will be a great addition to my van as it will approve air circulation by using intake over the bed and exhaust out of the kitchen. Check out the entire video to learn from my mistakes.
    Materials:
    - Maxxair Fan Deluxe
    - Butyl sealant - SikaLastomer 710 OR butyl tape
    - Metal Jigsaw Blade
    - Primer/Rust Protectant
    - Metal File
    - Painters Tape
    - Plastic pieces to create level surface in between the roof ribs
    - Lap Sealant ( I used Sikaflex 521UV)

I am Sandra. In January 2022 I purchased a 2018 Sprinter Van, Sherpa. I am using my stubbornness and drive to show individuals that they, too, can convert a camper van by themselves and on a budget, with a lot of learning, rolling up the sleeves, and getting to work. With this van build I want to create an adventure vehicle that's going to store all my surfboards, mountain bikes and skis and have some space for my friends to tag along as well in order to pursue the waves, fresh snow and good bike trails.
My want to inspire individuals to pursue their passion and to not be afraid to live a life differently.

Cool! Can i ask you a question? How is the certification process over there? Is it easy to make it street legal ?

Hey! We have a lot of requirements to make it street legal and you need to pass homologation. It is possible to get your van approved, but you have to dive into it and get informed about all tuv certifications you need and other requirements. If the conversion is done correctly and in a safe way, it is not hard to make it street legal :) But it really depends on the country, for example it's much easier to make it legal in Germany or US than my country for example.
