Hello, Gary. My wife and I have been watching your TH-cam videos for awhile because we love Bangkok. We are from New York City and are staying in Bangkok for the month of February in a condominium in Khlong San, which we noticed in the background of a recent video featuring your favorite Thai noodles. We visited the shop this morning and concur with your view that the beef noodles are excellent. Keep the great content coming! Tom and Helen
@@Mary.1130 oh please don’t think I was complaining, I certainly wasn’t I have followed Gary for many years and LOVE what he does and appreciates the time he puts into his vlogs I just love Thailand, food, people, culture.

This was the perfect happy Friday vlog for me 😋👍. It's tempting to say they all have the same Pho ingredients when you eat beef soups but they don't and that is a good thing.
Definitely a good thing. I was talking to Max about this yesterday. There’s similarities in the food, especially ingredients but it’s also very different which is great
Another fantastic video Gary ... all of your recommendations - and I've been to a few now ... are totally legit, as you feature them, accessible and delicious !!!
Loved the vid as always mate. Maybe even more as ive already been to see Jey Ju personally last year. She lit up when I showed her your youtube channel and I mentioned your name. What a beautiful lady!!! And to cap it off I sat right under your Roaming Cook sticker as I sent my tastebuds to heaven! P.S Loving the new edits & camera work. Well done you or whom you may have got on board.

The unique thing about Bangkok is that you can have an amazing shopping centre like Iconsiam and then the unique noodle shops close by. I'll go the pork soup but would be happy to have the beef.
Just a first comment on the beef noodle soup segment (and of course I would order it and eat to my heart's content). When I used to go to the city (NYC) with my wife to her doctors and treatments, I would have to get out on the streets with the people and the food while she was going through whatever, since we lived in a suburb which was boring and food deprived to the max. I've been to many malls here, and they try to replicate the street experience, but it's never the same, and probably never will be. Sometimes I'm not sure what I enjoy more about your videos.....the food or the street vibe, which you say is gonna disappear within the decade, and that's sad. And now on to the second part of this video. OK, second dish with the crispy pork was also a good one. I'd go with the liver and the intestines and whatever else there is......why stint when the ingredients are top notch?
I think when I went to Jae Ju in December, she might have thought I was you 😆 Certainly she thought I was a regular, since before I even sat down she came up with a big smile and waved away my attempt to order, saying something about "muan derm" (เหมือนเดิม, same as before), and I'd never set foot in the place before! I've no idea what your usual order is, but they only added moo krob to mine. I would've ordered liver and probably blood cake, but if I'm honest, it made me realise that I sometimes add those things not because I really want them, but because I feel like I "should". Simple can be better. Anyhow, it was properly, properly good. I had a few bowls of guay jab on that trip, but this was the best by far 😋
Good stuff Gary 👌🏼 I like the way it shows how much you enjoy the dishes & your description is really good too, as is the marking 20/10. The tongue looked like a foot 😁 would be funny to see Ellis in the indoor market on a Saturday morning 😡🤣
Thanks for saying this out. I always got the feeling a little bit irritated when see some foreigner brought their family to eat at Icon siam or any other malls and said it is authentic. I was hoping for a literal local food reaction on taste. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that Thai's Malls food court isn't authentic Thai food but as a Thai myself, Mall's food is literally nowhere near local food in term of taste, local will always be better and I have tried.
Hi Gary, I left bkk over 38 years ago, after living there for 4 years. I’m going back to Bkk in August and staying near soi 14 sukhumvit road. Where are the best places to go for a morning breakfast feast, that will cater to adults and children? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
DON'T MISSED!! "Pad-Kee-Mao" or "Drunken Noodle" (maybe Seafood). You can order in regular street food restaurant. We call "Lan - are - harn - Tam -Sung" it's means "Made To Order Restaurant". You can try yummy. 😉
Wasabi in London. I could eat their tofu curry and rice 365 days of the year easy! ..but too expensive. Can you recommend where to get green curry with shrimps in Bangkok? Preferably near Sri La Salle 😂
Funny you mention that as it’s in the next video. She’s at a small food court called Burin market and it’s literally next to the old Khlong San market to the left of you were looking at it face on
Hi Gary, I just arrived a few days ago from USA. I would like to meet up with u. How can I connect with you easy way. I was at icons Siem today and yesterday. I may go again tomorrow. They have celebration of Chinese New Year. I love that place. U inspire me. I requested once before to meet up with you. Please please please let me know. Thanks so much. Sandy
The good thing of street food in the shopping mall is that they collect many famous or even michelin selected shop together. For sure, their food is not on par with their original shop but you can get the idea how good Thai street food could be. 😊 Ofcourse they are many street stalls out there but it is so random if you want to find the good one without any good research ahead. 😅
You're right! Visiting any shopping malls in Bangkok for tourists to tasting or eating Thai foods/dishes in the food court is fine as they have no choice according to the limit of time. But one thing that they'll never know is some food shops in the food court is not the same quality as the their original in terms of the taste, especially the dish that need to cook instantly, not prepared food from the original vendor as they're not the professional cook. As the TH-camr like you that spends lots of time in Thailand for eating Thai foods, you'll know that even the same dish menu but different vendor, it tastes differently, but it's delicious also. Sometimes, I feel that many tourists that come to Thailand for Thai food; They never have enough information about how to eat individual Thai dish, for example: they often use fork instead of spoon which makes it difficult to eat and also how to eat individuals dish menu, etc. I think your TH-cam channel and the OTR channel have the advantage of Thai Cuisine for many tourists. In your opinion, should any other concerned parties/ government official do this for Thai Tourism Promotion?
Hi Gary, I have a question off topic. It's about getting a flight ticket between cities in Thailand. Do you buy on the day of travel, or do you book it far ahead? Is the inter cities airfare usually fluctuates, or is it about the same in each season? Should I book it now for September or will it be the same price to buy on that month? Please inform.
In Malaysia, we call that tofu "tofu pok". It totally absorbs the broth you cook it in. Super awesome stuff.. and liver (maybe not for everyone, but hey, not everyone understands good food) also totally rox! Gary, get your ass down here, I'll show you good food.. not just Malaysian cuisine, which is vast on it own, but have @ some local Chinese street food that's comparable to what you've just had in this video.
I’ve noticed Gary can’t use a spoon in his left hand. Always has to swap over to his right to try the broth. Ends up holding the chopsticks in his left hand which is just odd 😂
ICON Siam food court is busy and not very good… food that should be hot was cold or luke-warm 😣 Gross! Street food or smaller shops are much better… 😊🙏🏻
