    "They almost came to own the majority of Norways oil". They were offered 10% of the proceeds of the Oseberg Oil Field, how does that come close to owning the majority? Did i miss something?

    speaking as a dane volvos was EVERYWHERE back in the day and still are. The estate version is called the vet-mobile because everey country vet used to drive them. likewise the police used amazons and 140s and 240s also the post service and others. It was a very popular vehicle with the public as we share sorta the same climate as Sweden.
    "funny story" when my mother was pregnant with me (32 years ago) she was riding in an Vovlo Amazon (late model) on a country road where a tractor had previosuly had an oil spill and they slipped, going off the road and rolled 3 times and nobody was hurt. Thanks to swedish safety engeneering I'm sitting here today drinking schnapps writing this. Yay Vovlo

      Jeg var barn i 1982. Vi brukte å kjøre bil til skikonkurranse. De lengste bilreisene kunne bli en dagsreise en vei. Sjåføren hadde en sliten gammel Opel. Siden vi skulle kjøre langt, lånte han en ny Volvo med god komfort. Vi kolliderte front mot front med et vogntog. Vi var 4 i Volvoen. Ingen omkom. Volvo ye-heey!

    It's inaccurrate to say that we were a combined state, though we were in a union. Norway and Sweden had separate governments (but a shared king)

    Even if the deal went through, there is no guarantee whether the Norwegians will honor the deal, given so much money at stake. Nationalisation, confiscation of foreigners' properties is not uncommon in the oil and gas industry.

      Volvo is swedish. The subdivision Volvo cars however, isn't. The headquarter is still in sweden, but the company is owned by geely.

    Norway actually offered SEK 200mil *and* 10% concession of Oseberg oil field for 40% of the company's *car manufacturing* only (instead of 40% of the whole Volvo since Volvo also has truck manufacturing facility). So the oil concession is not to substitute the money as stated in the video, but to compliment it. Also, SEK 200mil at that time would be equivalent to close to USD 90m instead of USD 80m as stated in the video.
