This period of the Scorpions is my absolute favorite. Tokyo Tapes 1978, Lovedrive 1979, Animal Magnetism 1980, Blackout 1982. Some of their best stuff.
Extend that era to include 1984-1990, and I'm right there with you. That whole "decade-plus" (1979-1990) is absolute gold, and can never be topped. Even some of the late-70s stuff was pretty good.

Love it! Very dark song and some epic guitar tones. This album never gets enough loving. Another great song from it is "Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep)". Another great (even older) track is "Dark Lady"
Listening to this now, as an adult, I wonder what this did to my 13 year old self. I remember when this album came out. It felt like a drug then. It still feels like a drug. This is haunting and seductive. Thank you for reacting to it.
This is the album that got me into rock music when I was 13. I consider this album my favorite of all time. The entire album is a masterpiece. Every song is unique.

Speaking of trances, In Trance is one of my favorites. It's a few years earlier than this album. Off this album, The Zoo is great and also Lady Starlight is possibly their greatest ballad ever imo.
Off this album I would recommend Make it real and most also highly recommend Lady starlight .Also check out older stuff like Virgin killer and In Trance. Both excellent albums

Scorps! 1 of my top 5 favorite bands. They are awesome. So many great ballads, great rock songs, etc.... Blackout is tough album to beat. Every song kills it!
I was curious to see your reaction to this one, because it was different than other Scorps tunes you have reacted to. Glad you really liked it. You should definitely check out this whole album. The further back you go the more different their music was. They were definitely influenced by the different lead guitarists, but also once they broke thru in the US, they started to become more commercial and radio friendly/accessible with their songwriting to continue their success. Also, to your comment on the album art, the sexually suggestive/provocative artwork was a trend with the earlier albums and often had to be changed/toned down for the US market.
Look at this album art.....lol. nothing in particular is wrong....but it's so wrong. They have some messed up artwork. Probably one of the best Metal songs ever. Love putting this on 10 while cruising on the highway. This and China White. Try AURORA MURDER 5 4 3,2,1 FROM THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE CONCERT......talk about a unique song.

One of my favorites from the scorpions. Saw them at the US Festival in Glen Helen, California in 1983. They were the best performers out of all of the bands that were there that day. They beat up.the headlining band Van Halen. The Scorpions were incredible

I’m not a huge scorpions fan but I really liked this album. I bought it when it first came out. I was in the fifth grade. I had an older sister and she was always ahead of the curve. The lead singer hits notes on this album that I haven’t heard on other albums.
As a huge fan I found this to be the worst dong on that LP......is there anybody there is great a Reggae style but Holiday is a Michael Schenker classic

Here's another one I think you would like if you liked this one. Heart "Mistral wind". it has that same ethereal feeling. I did not know what a "mistral wind" was until I looked it up, and it's a cold wind known in northern france, but she is talking about a sailing ship out in that wind. check it out.
