Part of my issue is singing in a heavy band who play incredibly loud. It becomes hard to tell if I'm in key or not, and though the people in the audience will say I sound fine, I'll listen back on videos and sound way off.
Great video for a person who is just starting out on "how to treat your own vocals in a live setting". Please (if you have the time) to produce a 'version 2' and 'version 3' of this video where you delve deeper into this 'realm', with more tips and tricks of live vocal treatment and related equipment.
I find your tips so useful & your way of explaining everything comes so natural, so thanks for it! I felt like we had a one on one discussion about this. Best of luck with your career! :)
Good valuable tips, thank you for that :) May I leave a suggestion for a video? I was searching for tips on how to participate as a vocalist to a jam session, but couldn't find anything. Do you have some tips on that subject?
Ouch. RPM drank some fucking H8Rade! I like his shit but did not expect that kind of statement. I wanted to ask you - that looked like a small powered monitor wedge, yeah? How cool would it be to bring your mic, pedals and a little powered wedge for your own monitor and just get a dry line from the Chairman of the Board? Hmmm. Chairman of the Board. I like that. I am also a sound guy. I have done a couple sets without monitoring. They were bullshit. It was an outdoor concert, too. Holy hell, did I get an education that day! That will -never- happen again.
trying to wrap my head around why they would ask a "singer" who performs with a DJ about live vocals? wouldn't this type of artist be less than 1% of all singers? why not ask a singer who actually performs live with a band? and what a terribly produced video with her rambling and repeatedly going off camera to puck up items.... geez..
Honestly, regardless of her own musical choices, all of her points are absolutely correct. As a professional vocalist myself, I can concur that all of these tips make the difference between an amateur performer and a serious one.
Kevin Richards Rock the Stage NYC I took her word for it. But like I said, every one of her points is 100% true. Pretty much standards of professionalism. Her style of music is irrelevant frankly.

i have the same problem
Get your own monitoring system, preferably in-ear with your own mix so you can lessen the band mix and up your output
Its always good to practice some doe, rae, mee, before you go on, and when hitting those highs pull away from tbe mic a little helps!
Some very good points in this video, good shout about the vocal pedals too, I definitely need to look into them, thank you!

Just a giant ad for effects equipment.

Tell me what I wrote that is incorrect or are you one of those people that gets easily offended by someone's professional opinion?

And she says very clearly that she's a performer in a band, so your point is even further invalid
AnthonyPudduMusic
did you bother to check out her music? Guess not. She's not in a "band" she's a beat boxer
