    I'm not a plumber but this shouldn't happen unless you have a restriction past the sink drain. My mom's floor drain started doing the exact same thing but was never an issue in the past 45 years.

    What did you do differently for it to work right on the last attempt? Just ordered one for the same issue.

      there was a piece of debris on the plunger, that would not let the water lift it. I test it every once in a while to make sure it works.

    Spray some lube on those screws. With time the screws will freeze in place if you don't lube them. Then you won't be able to pull it out. That just happened to me.

      just petroleum jelly in the thread and surrounding. Lube spray may damage rubber parts
