    Nice vid, I have a 2013 Veloster just turned 75K and I love it!!! I just had to replace the crank postion sensor which when you put in gear it doesnt engage, well word of advice to ALL Veloster owners use the OEM part ONLY! I got the sensor from advanced auto for $80 and the car didnt even start so I ordered an OEM and it works like a charm!! Love that little car treat it good andit will do the same, they all have wear and tear problems thats my 2 cents !! LOL

    One of the big reasons that I got a Veloster is because, for the most part, maintenance procedures on them are quick and easy and this is a great case-in-point. Hell, changing the PCV valve on my old 2000 Altima required the complete removal of the intake manifold while my Veloster (as shown) just has it sticking out of the valve cover within easy reach. The oil filter was placed mere centimetres from the drain plug which makes oil changes a snap as well. I haven't had any oil-burning problems that I know of but that's probably because I practice preventative maintenance and don't wait for problems to occur before doing things like this. I put some Head Gasket Fix in my coolant even though my head gasket isn't blown. A friend of mine asked be why I did that and my answer was simple. If you wait until the head gasket is blown, it's already too late for an additive to do anything. With the additive already in the coolant (Global Yellow Coolant), if the head gasket starts to fail, the additive will nip it in the bud while it's still a tiny leak and will stop it from getting bigger.
    The only thing that would be a pain on this car would be the exhaust manifold because it's between the engine and firewall. The clutch will probably be a pain as well but that's just because of the transverse engine setup. Other than that, everything is within easy reach, the belt tension is manually set with the alternator (one less thing to go wrong) and the rear shocks are the old (and therefore easy to change) lateral bolt to lateral bolt style. I always check out how easy or hard a vehicle is to work on before I buy it and I couldn't believe how simple things were on the Veloster. I didn't know that any company still made cars that were as easy as a 1990s Civic to work on but the Veloster is.
    That 1.6L Gamma GDi engine also isn't picky about what spark plugs you put in it as long as they're iridium. My engine has used the original NGKs, a set of Champions and currently a set of Autolite plugs. It runs exactly the same on all types that I've tried, no problems at all. When you think about it, that makes sense because the metal type is science while the name printed on the porcelain is just marketing BS. Fortunately, nothing automotive is rocket science.

    They have a recall on this exact issue. My veloster was burning to much oil it essential dried up and yes I always did my oil changes every 5k miles, I got was approved for a new engine after they found out it was burning to much oil. It started to knock and then it locked up. I was able to get a short block and it took 5 months for the engine parts to come in then my turbo goes out. So far this week warranty has gotten me a new motor, all three engine mounts. A new super charger and bov and waste gate all this shit. A total of 6k free no mount out my pocket. What I heard is that the 2012-2013 are the worst in years for their cheap product and bad engines.

    I don’t think it should be going through that much oil especially at that mileage you may be eligible for the recall. They tried to act like it was just the Theta engines which are 2.0 and 2.4 but some of the gamma engines like this 1.6 had those same issues as well. Do you still have it?

    My 2015 Veloster Turbo is burning, oil and just started pouring white smoke. The pcv valve was replaced 6 months ago from Hyundai. Do i just replace it again? Any ideas what this could be?

      @@BrentVanHyfte my wife's has recently started eating about a quart of oil every 100 miles or so. And the thing isnt leaking a drop. Gonna change the PCV valve. But from what I've seen on the car and read I doubt that's what's wrong. This car only just got to 130,000 miles. Did you have any luck with the car

    • @BrentVanHyfte
      @BrentVanHyfte 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jmccoy96jm I'm still driving it but right now it isn't a lot because I work from home due to covid. But no the thing still eats oil, I would say I put a quart of oil in every 2 fill ups. So approximately 600ish miles. Mine doesn't leak a drop either. You may try Hyundai. My experience was decent until they wanted to charge me $500 to tear the engine down to see if they could actually submit a claim to corporate for repairs due to issues from the factory. I decided that wasn't worth my money, so I'm still driving it.

      You should have received a warranty extension from Hyundai because. These motors are apart of a factory recall. They will replace your engine because of the possibility of complete engine failure. So either reach out to your local Hyundai Dealership or call the North American Hyundai Corporation.
