    Introducing #Bajiquan #八極拳
A lot of people know Taichi, but few know Baji. Actually, you could have already seen it in a movie like Shang Qi.
Bajiquan or Kaimen Bajiqiquan, literally “Open Gate Eight Extremities Fist”, was founded by a Chinese Muslim martial artist Wu Zhong in early Qing dynasty. Wu Zhong was born in 1712 in Qingyun, in current Shandong province. He moved in his early years to current Meng Cun, Hebei Province, where Bajiquan was born and spread to neighbouring villages and cities. Wu Zhong was famous for his big spear skills and Bajiquan is said to be based on spear techniques. From Wu Zhong, his daughter Wu Rong and other early students, Bajiquan was passed down through many generations until today.
Among over 150 different schools of Chinese martial arts, Bajiquan stands out not only by its distinct, explosive strikes, but also by its fighting strategy and tactics. Bajiquan basically doesn’t block an opponent’s strike but uses different body parts to deflect the strike to get close to the opponent with a counterstrike at the same time - this is what “open gate” means. That is, opening the defence of your opponent.
Our channel is dedicated to promoting Bajiquan to different cultures in the world. Our future tutorials will be structured as systematically as possible, so you too can benefit from this ancient Chinese martial art system.
Finally, don’t forget to subscribe and turn on the notification bell for future updates.
    See you soon!

Thank you so much for teaching us! I've developed a fondness for baji eversince I first read the manga Kenji over a decade ago but never got a chance to learn from any master. The forms are beautiful and exudes power. The techniques are practical too. I love this!

Is Baji quan a complete system or is it like a form? Like the seven star fist? Idk, I’m excited to start learning Baji.

Sir, what is the striking surface for the Baji Quan fist. I'm confused because it has a "hollow" shape rather than being a "tight" fist. Forgive me, I'm new to Baji Quan.

Hello master Jianjun, I want to ask if this can be any help in starting Baji Quan? and if its more or less correct in stances and technique?

Very good documentary, and it is good to see some interest in this relatively unknown (outside of China and Japan) martial art.
However, I would like to point out a slight inaccuracy in the narration: You say in the video that Chinese Muslim named Wu Zhong (吳鍾) is the founder of Baji. This is debatable since many sources cite a Daoist Monk named Lai (癞)as the oldest practitioner of Baji, and the one who passed it onto Wu.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to edit the video to reflect that? I will leave that to your discretion.
    All the best.

Strictly speaking, Bajiquan was formed by Wu Zhong integrating other martial arts practised and taught by his teachers who were non-Muslims.
