When it comes to games like FNAF having a more cryptic story, I can understand it. After all, Scott has made a lot of hints of backstory for the 1st game and people wanted to know what exactly happened during and after the events. But why would they go full Attack on Titan on us and over-complicate a simple story of a neighbor not wanting people to figure out what's in the basement? And not just over-complicate it, but do it worse than the alpha. How did a game like this with so much potential fall so hard on launch?
Yeah but at least AOT has substance to it it's an amazing anime the story isn't over complicated it's just complicated we are just used to these shows handing us the plot but attack on titan has plot that you really have to think about to understand this plot is so over complicated I'm thinking there's no plot at all. Anyway long story short AOT and FNAF have complicated story's that you have to really think about but this game sucks at that
Emperor Gameling I hope you know that is not effective at all and just makes you look like an immature 7 year old. Also I have no problem being called a weeb for that is what I am.
I remember seeing a very early build for this game and it actually looked fun, simple enough goal (open the locked up door in the neighbors house) and whenever you got caught he would trap your entrance. Where did it all go wrong?
The developer took for granted the fame they received and literally chose quantity over quality. They focused too much on the success rather than making a good game, begging creators like MatPat to make more theories on it. It's truly sad, almost pathetic. I’ve been watching development of this game for years, and let me just say that the final game sucks compared to its Alphas. Alpha 1 has to be the best one without question. No goofy art style, but still cartoony, which is nice. As the art style moved to Alpha 2, I could deal with that, and then 3, it was “Eh okay”, but as soon as it got to Alpha 4, I’d had enough. The game looked unplayable with its weird wacky shapes and goofy goofy style. The Beta was a nice turnaround for content, but the design never improved. I’m really really sad to see this game go down the drain, as I as well as everyone was very excited for it. I remember it being Let’s Played all the time by popular people like Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, 8-Bit Ryan, and others, and now nobody is playing it anymore because of how bad it’s gotten. This game was the biggest video game let down of the last couple years
I guess they got compliments on the slightly catoony aspect and a couple of basic elements, then got carried away with it. In a way, I'm kind of glad my game key stopped working in alpha 3 after seeing this. xD

Chad Dad -- I know, right? The Neighbor runs like a fucking kangaroo on crack. The kid moves like an Olympian. It makes it look so unrealistic and trashy.
They are probably fans of the good stimulants. Not only the player and antagonist are *MOVING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND* but the cars aas well. It's like everything and everyone in this game just had a good binge on some hard stimulants...
There's something so serene about 17:47. The gentle gasp, the silent skyward soar and then a dainty downward descent. Magnificent work, Charlie. A cinematic masterpiece.

devs becoming too unfocused and wanting to implement dumb pointless shit that doesn't really add anything to game overall. Its like making a cosmetic item look amazing but ignore the entire gameplay itself. Its mainly the fault of the alpha becoming too popular and the devs wanting to make each alpha contain cool easter eggs and not bother with making the game better. If the alpha hadn't blown up and become youtube bait, it wouldn't have become this utter shit mess. to other budding game devs. dont put useless shit before making your game better. You cant decorate a cake until its done.
Seriously, why the fuck did they release this. The ALPHA was less glitchy. Less glitchy than all of beta and full release. It's like they didn't feel like fixing bugs and making their game actually good and not a meme.
When you program something glitches happen, that’s why there’s more glitches. However it doesn’t excuse the lack of care and attention to any of the games problems. I’m just saying that’s why.
Well the thing is PixelSticks0, yes, games can have some undetected glitches, but if the alpha version of the game is pretty much a bit less basic as the full release and yet is more stable than said full release, it shows how little they cared to sell us a stable game. I can easily bet that the direction they went with was because of the theories about the game.
The Gifting Ranger I said that it doesn’t excuse the lack of giving a shit about the game, it’s a huge piece of shit and it shows how little they cared about gameplay as they didn’t even try to fix anything. For fucks sake, the alpha was actually better in every way possible. I absolutely agree that it was downgraded and the fact that it costs more than $1.99 is fucked.
I love how Charlie thought it was completely outlandish to think that the torturer would lend the kid he tortured the house despite that being the plot to Willy Wonka.
Skeltal Man The game was seriously overhyped and when matpat started game theories on the game the devs must have decided that fucking boring puzzles are better than actual gameplay that is fun.
Camad203 I think you're on the right track, but I think because the game got overhyped by other youtubers (Like Matpat, Pretty much every gaming channel), that they felt more pressure than before, and scrambled. That, or, something fucked up in development that we don't know about and they had to do something else.
Arthur Pendragon it really sems like a mixture of both. matpat very obviously overhyped this along with other youtubers either kissing the devs ass or screaming that it’s too hard. for an indie studio with promises of adaptive AI and all that fancy stuff, having that much more pressure shoved on you can’t feel great. but it also really really looks like they lost a build somewhere. even if they stayed in development for half a fucking year longer it would’ve looked ten times better than this
My theory is that TH-camrs hyped this game so much that the developers didn’t give a shit anymore and realized that the hype alone would get this to sell
Well, let's assume it was bug-free. The only people I think would have fun with it, are either people who love puzzle games, or people who really like to explore (Theoretically, the house looks pretty interesting to roam around in my opinion.)
Arthur, if you haven't played the game yourself, I'd recommend reading around a bit on the wiki to get a feel for what kind of "puzzle" gameplay these hypothetical players might have in store for them... like, try using a series unmarked of valves like a combination lock to fill a room with water, then freezing a plastic globe in the neighbor's freezer, and placing the globe on a completely unremarkable pedestal in another room to _freeze_ the water in the room and allow passage. The intrepid explorers would be treated to three shittily designed minigame zones stuffed in closets that reward useless (but technically necessary [but not really because bugs]) abilities, and 69,002 random objects that all accomplish the same goal of opening the basement door in similarly indirect and nonsensical ways.
That was fake as hell 🤣 they literally just spawn traps and cameras in the house on repeat attempts, the actual AI barely even knows how to follow you without getting stuck.
I'm trying to understand what's the point of this game, I see you walking over like crazy searching for items and I can't figure out which of the strats you do are actually the only way to get past some door, then you get a red key and the protagonist goes away and changes to some other dude what even is going on in the plot?
Well apparently the “plot” is the kid is the same guy from later but it’s a flashback of him getting kidnapped by the neighbor basically everything after act 2 is a nightmare/ PTSD from the protagonist after he moves into the neighbors house
So the story of the neighbor is his wife died in that car accident and his son went crazy and accidentally pushed his sister off the roof during a game of hide and seek, killing her, so now with his wife and daughter dead, he goes crazy and traps his son in the basement to protect him. He also buries his daughter in the backyard and hangs up missing signs for his son and daughter so his son wouldn't get taken away for being a murderer. The kid tries to get into the basement to help him but after he learns too much the neighbor holds him hostage. When he escapes the neighbors son lights the house on fire from the basement, killing both the neighbor and the son. Act 3 is all an illusion where the character has to defeat his past demons. If you watch playthroughs of hello neighbor: hide and seek, you can get more story. The game is made eay better then it's original and is really emotional
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I’ve lost... the comrades I’ve lost... won’t stop hurting... It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it, too, don’t you? I’m gonna make them give back our past.
Gordon Nukem You too have known loss. And that loss torments you to this day. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain. But it never goes away. It makes a game hideous inside and out. Wouldn't you agree? We both are early accessors. Our humanity won't return. You. Me. We've no place to run, nowhere to hide. And that is why I will show you Hello Neighbor.
We hold our rifles in missing hands. We stand tall on missing legs. We stride forward on the bones of our fallen. Then, and only then, are we alive. This "Pain" is ours and no one else's. A secret weapon we wield, out of sight. We will be stronger than ever. For our peace... Still, It doesn't feel like this is over...

Except Bethesda simplifies their games, be it bad or good. This game just feels like a game with purposely complicated game design and everything in it.
Not really, people figure how to skip this kind of stuff in any game, people like penguinz0 always find a way for speedrunning capabilities. Yeah the design and ai is bad now, but it's not really glitchy. Now y'all just looking for more reasons to hate on this 😬

This game was so great, everyone was hyped everytime a beta came out, a lot of people played this, I remember Jacksepticeye, but there were plenty more I just don't know who, But it was a lot. it was good and they had cool houses changing in every beta, But things started to get worse as beta 4 came around. It was dark and annoying, and I also feel that if they were to go with a house, they should have picked the smaller, less chaotic house for the main game, but eh, my opinion. But now the whole story is way, too over complicated and it doesnt make any sense. It went from Sneaky game with AIs who learn about your movements, to he walks around, knows you're there and takes you. Did I ever mention how the story doesn't make sense?? The story would fit way better in like an action game or some kind of game like (I forget its name but its about this family called the finches, and they have a curse or somethin' I don't remember, that was like a couple months ago) and not in a horror game, lmao.
I think the game you’re talking about is what remains of Edith finch. It’s an absolutely fantastic game and I agree that hello neighbor would fit much better in that kind of style
ran out of the money they were willing to use to keep supporting flying trash bin game. this isnt the worst game ive seen in terms of a scam on steam. check out robot arena 3, devs fully released it and ran after putting it on sale during the summer, lying that they'd keep updating the game. it doesnt even look like it should have been considered beta, let alone full release. Edit: forgot to say, the game crashes and/or bugs when you try to play a tournament, locking your robot and screwing your entire game over. the only "mostly" functional part to the game is the robot creation, but even that is a pain to deal with.
Ikr? Just by watching these vids you can clearly see this was another bad release. It really seems like you'd have to cheese it in order to finished the game. Plus the level design looks pretty terrible with very open areas that doesn't add to anything in the game and that you wouldn't even step foot in. I'll keep my money. Thank you, sir.
No? It used to be a better game with the same concept in its alpha stages. I think you’re talking about secret neighbor, which came out after this game.
50 CAD on the switch lmfao. Since nintendo folks are usually out of the loop with certain media thats not all nintendo exclusive I really hope none of them buy it...
subnautica: in early access it was pretty buggy, but the full release is alright, havent seen that many bugs in the playthroughs ive watched hello neighbour: buggy in early access, not much bullshit. full release: physics are broken, certain items launch you when stood on from a certain angle, neighbour moves through walls, you can vault into some windows, the objective isnt clear, there seems to be several ways to beat the game. seen several bugs in this game, shit you would see in skyrim bug compilations, the ones that only happen 1/1000000 times in conclusion hello neighbour is no where near "full release"
To be honest, Hello Broken game could become good...if they didn't focus the whole freaking game on the lore that can hardly be discovered without connecting your brain with a toaster to do the work (Do random shit until shit happens). This "full release" is a huge downgrade to the game, they literally killed what made Hello Neighbor good to replace it with "lore" as an attempt for the game to go viral just like Fnaf. But compared to Hello Neighbor, Fnaf was actually playable. Wish the devs didn't jump on the "lore" trend, where the lore matters more than the gameplay.
Kenshiro (Ken for short) is the main character of the Hokuto no Ken manga, anime and related media. He is the 64th successor of the Hokuto Shinken style and considered one of the greatest successors in its 1,800 year history.
This reminds me of my base in Fallout 4. About 10 stories and completely full of useless shit with rare key items scattered about. Needless to say I'm never beating the game.
Man, the definition of what a “video game” is has been warped and twisted so much that developers are able to just pump this shit out in a year and sell millions of copies. It’s infuriating.
Mal game isn't actually as bad as he's showing. These are various cuts and not serious gameplay. It's actually pretty solid, but it's definitely more of a niche game and not for everybody
Doug Rattmann I’ve beaten the game with about an hour and a half logged into it, according to my Steam. For me, it just doesn’t offer a lot of content for the price of the game. It is also obscenely broken, and this video just highlights some of the most shite aspects of it. It seems kind of like a one-time gag game to me, but as you said, some people really enjoy this type of thing, which I can get behind.
I remember when I had a horror blog on tumblr, the Hello Neighbor tumblr kept following me and unfollowing me to make me notice them lol. I never followed back
I saw merchandise for this game at Gamestop and it reminded me of how broken it was. How the hell did this buggy-ass game get so popular? Was it youtube?
Do you think it would have been a good game if it didn’t get popular? If the dev was able to make it at their own pace instead of wanting to rush it to please fans? I feel like the reason things got so wonky is because it got popular far too soon. If it was 3-4 of the way done when it was discovered it would have been better imo.
@electric_hiccup 707 yeah imo matpat should just fuck off with his incoherent theories on indie (or unfinished) games because look what happened to five nights at freddys, it obviously had no intention of a sequel and so because of matpat, scott cawthon had to drop 5 games for "backstory", even though there was no story.

This game could have been good, now it's too bad to even deserve the title of bad, let alone being talked about
@@officialtoddhoward69 The devs also thought that since people liked parkouring to get to out of bounds areas that the people want a game focused on platforming. Which is not at all why those people did it. Thats like devs redesigning the game around speedrun qlitching.

This game was the biggest video game let down of the last couple years
The game looks like a shitty art project
I guess they got compliments on the slightly catoony aspect and a couple of basic elements, then got carried away with it. In a way, I'm kind of glad my game key stopped working in alpha 3 after seeing this. xD

Possibly also the result of a loss of a build at some point. It's rare but it had happened before.
devs becoming too unfocused and wanting to implement dumb pointless shit that doesn't really add anything to game overall.

Seriously, why the fuck did they release this. The ALPHA was less glitchy. Less glitchy than all of beta and full release. It's like they didn't feel like fixing bugs and making their game actually good and not a meme.
Total Trash Mammal Hello Mae
Total Trash Mammal tru
This is almost unrecognizable from the alpha. What the hell happened?
Skeltal Man The game was seriously overhyped and when matpat started game theories on the game the devs must have decided that fucking boring puzzles are better than actual gameplay that is fun.
Camad203
I think you're on the right track, but I think because the game got overhyped by other youtubers (Like Matpat, Pretty much every gaming channel), that they felt more pressure than before, and scrambled.
That, or, something fucked up in development that we don't know about and they had to do something else.
Arthur Pendragon it really sems like a mixture of both. matpat very obviously overhyped this along with other youtubers either kissing the devs ass or screaming that it’s too hard. for an indie studio with promises of adaptive AI and all that fancy stuff, having that much more pressure shoved on you can’t feel great. but it also really really looks like they lost a build somewhere. even if they stayed in development for half a fucking year longer it would’ve looked ten times better than this
Ugandan Knuckles
I see! That sounds pretty logically sound!
My theory is that TH-camrs hyped this game so much that the developers didn’t give a shit anymore and realized that the hype alone would get this to sell
Let's assume the game is bug-free, how would this be any fun to play?
Jesus, what a horrifying thought...
No.
Jangles it's a puzzle game.are you stupid?
Remember when the game's popularity stemmed from it's advanced AI?
It thought it was because the games was good at one point but they remodelled the house what feels like a thousand times
Pepperige farm remembers
That was fake as hell 🤣 they literally just spawn traps and cameras in the house on repeat attempts, the actual AI barely even knows how to follow you without getting stuck.
advanced? LOL what drugs are you on the guy got stuck in ur house in the alpha the neighbor was so bad in the earlier alphas
Random Person well who would have thought that buzz lightyear looking kid is also the buzz lightyear looking dude. That plot is fucking trash
Icằŗūs Kūŗøı Is it not obvious that the “other dude” is just the kid but now grown up?

Was it youtube?
yea a lot of youtubers overhyped it
its really sad, alpha was really good and really promising, but then it looks like they gave the fuck up.

Wow wee this game looks like dog shit. I remember how much hype was surrounding it a while ago. Yuck.
Tim Effertz at least it actually had promise once upon a time... before they updated it every three weeks with everything about it completely changed.
