I know many of you will VEHEMENTLY disagree and that's fine, tell me why.

This is so interesting, I always accepted edges right away because in German there is a saying that you need to love all of someone’s edges and corners (literal translation) to actually love them as a whole. So, you even love the edgy, the not so easy to love parts of them :)
I really don't like John Legend. It's for a silly reason, but ever since I saw him in Jesus Christ Superstar live.... I saw him spit when he sang, and now its all I can think of when I hear his music. lol

I think maybe it's one of those songs where the lyrics can be very personal for some, whether you find them simple or not, but you are definitely entitled to your opinion, and I support that.
I agree with you 💯. I have never liked this song. No matter how many times I listen to it. Can't stand it. Sure, he has a good voice. Sure, the piano is nice. But it's overrated, as you said.
Never really gave it much thought tbh...true the lyrics are basic but most extremely popular songs are simply in alot of ways ( curves and edges I always interpreted it as your softness and strength idk tho)

curves and edges are a metaphor for her good and less good traits, I figured, isn't it? your curves, your delicate, comfortable parts of your personality that charmed me immediately,
and your edges, the parts of your character I got to know that maybe clash with parts of mine, the things about you that I wouldn't be able to ignore for anyone else, but when it comes to you, even they are making you special to me

he says he loves her imperfections, they are, too, what make her perfect to him.
this is the whole point of this song. ALL of me (my good and bad that's in me, my imperfections and flaws, on good days and on bad days) loves ALL of you (every bit of you, inside out). give your all to me, the good and bad, I'll give my all to you, we're equals, we choose this love.
every other lyrics on the verses refer to that sentiment as well but it would take forever to detail here lol. it's like a song that a man sings to his partner telling them that even after the honeymoon phase of the relationship, his love has grown so deep that choosing to stay and love is an easy choice. I don't find it an easily or "cheap" written song at all, and I think, as it's so popular for so long, many people don't. the sentiment this song exudes is very powerful, I wish to love like that some day. I think many people do. and people who already do, love this song for putting word to their feelings. sometimes it takes a simple lyric to make your heart tremble :) not everything has to be complex. writing is best, I feel like, when you're able to put complex situations and emotions into simple words and digestible sentences. you can wrap your head around it, similar to some of Taylor Swift's best songs. they contain simple lyrics, word play, yet-creat such emotional impact on listeners.

You know, that makes perfect sense. That never once occurred to me nor any of the people I have ever gone on this rant to lol no one has ever thought of it or explained it to me like that. That completely changes my perspective on the lyric and though it doesn't mean I love the song now, I do not harbor that same disdain for that lyric. Thank you for explaining that to me :)

I think it is a beautiful song and knowing he wrote it for Chrissy makes it even sweeter. The line about curves and edges is saying that you love the good and bad of your partner. You are trying to take it wayyyy too literally. And you kinda just sound jealous that you haven't found that kind of love 🤷♀️
I was enjoying JL vocals, but I was always grinning with all those lyrics 😂😂 a lot of double meaning in annoyingly way ..like it's all about making love that was just glamourized by music there another song that I heard from him.. again my POV
Strongly disagree. This song is highly evocative to me, of the experience of falling love, of my experience when falling in love with my spouse of 35 years, 36 years ago. We had our first date March 1 and got engaged March 14, and we’re still outrageously, miraculously, that much in love.
