No. She is a former Miss India who could have coasted to an amazing career in Bollywood. Instead she chose to move to the U.S. to push herself to achieve more. As much as the U.S. “offered her opportunities” she also had to make them happen. It takes brains, tenacity, hard work, and grit. This why immigrants on average do better than native born Americans, particularly the Indian community.

@max- She got an opportunity because of Gerrard butler, who was smitten by her beauty and had announced even his proposal to marry her. Every body' was curious about who that lady was. And then one of his friends Mr Andrew called her for a photo shoot which was on Forbes front cover. She looked gorgeous in black and white pic. It raised more attention, and that's how I believe she got an opportunity to be a part of TV serial about spy or... Once she got married to Nick, she became an established actress because she was living in the USA and network also. If you have a good referral in the USA or Canada, you will get a chance. Also, her charms contributed, too. I always find her very attractive.

She lived in the United States with family for at least 4 years before she became an actor. She was quite familiar with the United States before she came back to the US to work. She went to American secondary schools & knew the culture & the language. Plus, she was Miss Universe. That opened up massive doors. Simply the fact that she is beautiful gave her advantage most do not have. Did she really expect to acquire leading roles with her first jobs? Many American actors NEVER get leading roles. I would imagine that 10 years is the average for those who succeed. Being Indian has NOTHING to do with it. Seldom do you hear millionaires talk about how fortunate they are - it's all about the struggles, the "hard work." Most actors don't really know what hard work is. Count your blessing, not your struggles. Is it any wonder she is friends w/ Meghan Markle?
