hello sir,, i have to say i have looked at over 200 vids and you kind sir are my favourite and most helpful i am attaching a photo of an ocean floor to get some advice on where i screwed up or missed certain shades and highlights
If you want some feedback on one of your paintings you need to join my Patreon (www.patreon.com/brennerfineart) and do the Silver plus tier - I get SO many requests of helping artists out that I could spend hours every week without getting any payment. And I can not afford that, sorry.
@@MB-pd6mm the final layer is done with oils...not sure, could even be that the first layer is also done with oils, been a while since I published this tutorial and my way of painting has changed since then - I meanwhile only use oils for all of the layers of a painting
Yes, the underpainting consisted of Cobalt Blue and Raw Umber...back then I did the underpainting in acrylics to save time...but I went away from the acrylics, the simply don`t do the trick when you want to have a more detailed underpainting/first layer of colour.
Hi there would you be willing to tell me what you mix to make all those colors you used? (I know you used red, white, blue, dark blue,) I hope you know what i mean…😅 Thank you!
Hi 😁 I mixed a set of colours consisting of titanium white, cadmium red, phthalo blue, dioxazine purple and lamp black. The recipe for all those single pools of colours I do not remember any more, the painting was done years ago. Did this help you anyway?
I hope I can do an orchid tutorial in the future - I truly like this kind of flowers :-))) And waves at the beach are definitely on the agenda and will be coming soon :-)))
The amazon link is the link to the colours that I used - the brand on amazon, so that you can order them if you want to use the same colour as I did in this painting. The colours that I used are mentioned at 0:40 in the Video, and those are Titanium White, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Red and Lamp Black.
why is it when I come to your videos I say "hey I do that" haha (multiple brushes) and I often have them in my right hand...one to apply the paint and one to smudge and blend.
Well, I do have actually more than two brushes in my left hand - I do have one brush for each pool of colour that I use. This way you keep your colours clear, they dont get "pulluted" by other colours and that is essential when you try to not get your colours muddy and looking similar.
@@brennerfineart haha, I was JUST doing that yesterday...oops....used my smudge brush for the paint and vice versa. It's not a big deal, I paint in latex for my exterior signs so I just wash em off with water and start again. I tell you, your tutorials have improved my painting by 100% in the past week alone. When things calm down in Jan I'm going to have time to practice all your techniques....
I use a brush with very little colour on it - this makes blending two wet colours much easier. But I also do "real" drybrushing - a tiny bit of colour on the brush that I rub into the already dry background colour.
Thank you :-))) This is an honour - but you could also join my patreon, full time real time painting tutorials including the mixing process, currently 4 new tutorials a month (each of them around 2-7 hours) for a meager 5 bucks a month. So no loan needed ;-)))
