Just illustrates, once again, that Jeff could do anything on the electric guitar - any style and any era and utilising every technique "under the sun".
And in keeping with your point on style versatility/adaptability... Check out Patient #9 by Ozzy Osborne. It came recommended to me on Apple Music app after I had just played JB "Wired" album in its entirety. Gotta say... I hadn't been so excited to play a new song by Ozzy since before the tragic death of Randy Rhodes. I felt like my teenage self again hearing JB with Ozzy for the first time. Jeff plays his parts on that song like Playing guitar for Ozzy is all he knows and he knows it well!! I discovered that album only a couple of weeks before the world had to say goodbye to Jeff Beck. 😢
Jeff Beck R.I.P. Be it if Jeff was playing his own compositions or far too many classics to name here, Jeff was as unique as anyone that ever picked up the guitar. May the glorious tones Jeff gave us remain high as the moon.🙏✌️🕯️
I closed my eyes and heard Les and Mary. Beck demonstrated the reason why he’s the best guitarist alive. And Imelda is wonderful in her tribute to Mary. Great performance!
Jeff does whatever he wants. OK this was his childhood dream. Done. I do not see anybody else around who could actually make the originals more interesting except these guys. Imelda is a Love-Love!
Short but certainly Sweet. Jeff Beck in a different delightful vid. the vocals sung so beautifully and the Band all making sweet sounds of yester-year one of my Fave' guitar sounds of Les Paul and the sound of Mary Ford singing in that awesome dubbed-over duet. Chillingly Masterfully done. THANKS for this musical Gem.
I fell in love with this tune while editing an anniversary video this Summer, found the Les Paul and Mary Ford All Time Greatest Hits CD at a garage sale a few weeks later, then stumbled over this while watching Jeff Beck tunes on youtube. Life seems pretty good at the moment!
I met Jeff Beck back in 1969. He hung out and showed me a guitar riff. What a Guy! Listen to him! Lovely. I would like to send my love to him and Imelda May. Like Mary Ford reborn.
Very good, and pretty close to the way Les & Mary did it. A pal and I were planning to fly to New York and visit the Iridium so see Les play. I believe he used to play there on a Tuesday night, Unfortunately we left it too late and I've regretted it ever since. "Procrastination is the thief of time" is so true. Just do it!
Jeff Beck took my place in my group in Croydon in 1962 when I was in France. They promised to pay him £10 but only paid him £5 so he left the group. So my claim to fame is that I replaced the great Jeff Beck in a band.
If my memory serves me corretly, I never saw a comment about Les Paul ... but no pity here loquayrocks, I am well aware of the GENIUS of Les Paul ... very much so ... THX
The big "Enliven" floating ad really adds to the ambience, doesn't it? Nothing makes you feel like you are there quite as much as floating advertisements popping up all over the video.
I love Jeff's playing and always have. However, I love to hear him do impressions of other players. This Les Paul impression is spot on. I also really like his impression of Cliff Gallup. This is a really clever guy.
Beck out lived, out played, out recorded &out toured the top 5 guitarist on the planet. He's been my idol since "rough & ready" & when Rod was fronting the Jeff Beck group. Jeff turned down the Rolling Stones while working on "Wired" with George Martin... Npt many guitarist can say that, aside Mick Taylor who felt he did his tour of duty...
Wow,this was my father's favourite when He was still alive. Still have his Les Paul guitar,I believe it was a Gibson Les Paul. And he could play this song too, gives me a thick throat.
Great to see the respect from the young, Les Paul and Mary Ford were part of the evolution of music. Same goes for tape recorders, electric guitars and microphones. Love to hear Tommy Emmanuel's version, wow.
JEFF BECK / IMELDA MAY - How High the Moon My favorite rock guitarist Jeff Beck has died. His Wiki entry was updated last night (1/10/2023) with a brief note: "Jeff Beck died from bacterial meningitis on 10 January 2023, at the age of 78." I loved him for his versatility - never more than the year Les Paul died, when Jeff and singer Imelda May 'channeled' Les Paul & Mary Ford at the 2010 Grammys: I never heard a better 'live' rendition of 'How High The Moon.' Is it at TH-cam? Alas no. At least not the Grammy performance (which was promptly removed from TH-cam for 'Grammy copyright' reasons). But Jeff and Imelda reprised their performance - most famously at the Iridium jazz club in New York where Les Paul held court once a week, right up until his passing at age 95 in 2009. It became the heart of a “Rock and Roll Party Les Paul Tribute" album. Wiki entry (below). From the DVD - “an 8-camera shoot at the Iridium.” Wikipedia note: Rock 'n' Roll Party (Honoring Les Paul) is a live album by Jeff Beck, recorded as a tribute album to the late guitarist Les Paul.[1] The album is recorded at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City where Les Paul played almost every week until his death in August 2009.[1] It was recorded on 9 June 2010, which would have been Les Paul's 95th birthday. The songs played were popular hits from the 1950s and 1960s, including many songs Les Paul played himself. Jeff Beck is joined by Imelda May and her band, in addition to Jason Rebello, Brian Setzer, Trombone Shorty and Gary U.S. Bonds.[1] On some of the songs, May sings together with a pre-recorded voice of herself, imitating the [multitrack] recording technique used on songs sung by Les Paul's wife Mary Ford. The DVD has been certified gold in Canada as of November 2011.[2] Thanks, Enliven Entertainment for sharing. Celebrated elsewhere [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
Am I not entitled to my opinion here? I'm a huge fan of Mary Ford as well as Imelda....each one to their own. my 'opinion' was a COMPLIMENT to Imelda and I'm damn sure Mary would be so damn PROUD of her!!! Kudos to Imelda....NONE to TH-cam tyrants
Rest in peace, Jeff Beck! You were in truth an innovator in the ways of playing the guitar, and one of the truly marvellous greats.🙏🙏🙏
You get he's playing in the style of Les Paul in the video, right? Les Paul the Original Innovator.
She's a great singer and Beck hits it note for note and also employs his signature extra-original nuances. Best cover of this tune I've heard yet.

I’ve seen this a few times, and the chills happen on each view. Brilliant players (and singer) right there.
Jeff Beck R.I.P.

Amazing!! What a tribute to Les Paul & Mary Ford!!! *****
I dont know how they came together, but Jeff and Imelda made the best duo ever. I was relly hoping they would do more together.
I closed my eyes and heard Les and Mary. Beck demonstrated the reason why he’s the best guitarist alive. And Imelda is wonderful in her tribute to Mary. Great performance!
Wow! Jeff Beck and Imelda May do a great version of this classic. I didn't expect The vocals to approach Mary Ford.
She's great
Agreed.
El Perfecto!
RIP Jeff. You’ll be greatly missed.
I expect 'tributes' to fall far short, but this is so good! A real tribute to what musicians owe to Les Paul.
Jeff does whatever he wants. OK this was his childhood dream. Done.
I do not see anybody else around who could actually make the originals more interesting except these guys. Imelda is a Love-Love!
All the greats know Les' importance to their trade. I stumbled upon this and was amazed at Jeff's rendition. Stunning!...But that's just Jeff
Out on the patio having lemonade with Les & Mary.
I saw them play this live at the Fillmore in S.F. simply amazing, and 'walking in the sand' was fantastic as well. in fact the entire show was +11
I was at that concert also. It was a good one !

The lovely Miss Imelda May with the brilliant Mr Jeff Beck singing a song by the legends that were Mr Les Paul and Miss Mary Ford
My God! what an incredibly accurate cover of my favorite LP & MF song! Great vocals!

This was superb rendition of a great tune, Les Paul would be pleased I am sure.
Imelda May she's beautiful!!!! Bravo Jeff!!!
I met Jeff Beck back in 1969. He hung out and showed me a guitar riff. What a Guy! Listen to him! Lovely. I would like to send my love to him and Imelda May. Like Mary Ford reborn.

MMmmm Nice Work, Jeff really did listen to Les Paul, though I never doubted it
Beck is the bomb. . . love this track.
That was freakin' awesome!!!!!!!! Excellent vocals.
"Best/greatest guitarist" = endless argument, thankfully. Let's just enjoy the enormous palette created by so many wonderful guitarists.
Wonderful I so enjoyed that ....

I'd never heard of her😮 😲 Wow what a voice.
Never noticed Imelda resembled Mary Ford until now that I watch both videos back to back.
Jeff beck plays this like he owns it..

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Jeff's playing and always have. However, I love to hear him do impressions of other players. This Les Paul impression is spot on. I also really like his impression of Cliff Gallup. This is a really clever guy.
The crowd is insane! ^^

Rip Father Jeff. Condolences to friends & family...
What a great job, instrumentals and vocalist who can hit the notes and not do "my version".
Great! Thats how the song is made for!
Buena imitación de Mary Ford, todo genial ! Felicitaciones !
Wow,this was my father's favourite when He was still alive. Still have his Les Paul guitar,I believe it was a Gibson Les Paul. And he could play this song too, gives me a thick throat.

Woah this is amazing.
I never thought anybody could do a Cover of that Song! There was only one Mary Ford, until this Lady came along!
Absolutely brilliant guitarist sadly no longer with us.
Drummer kicked in that little splash to emulate Paul's kicking the amp to rattle the tubes.
excellent spirit and cover, what a positive music!
Just beautiful

Fine interpretation, thanks
Goosebumps
imelda may!!
Nice. Never seen Jeff do this kinda thing before, bless him. By the way, Iridium's not that tiny. Quite large in fact!
Excellent!
I first heard Jeff on his album Truth and his solo on blues Deluxe, then Becks Bolero. Not your average guitarist!
That's really nice!
her voice and face are perfect
this is beautiful, but Les is THEE greatest of all time in history and will never be beaten, that man and the guitar were perfect !.
Perfection!
Bass guy awesome too.
