I join the other comments in saying this is the BEST instructional video on checking why the dryer doesn't heat. Love the wire trick for securing the drum! Clearly shows what parts to check and how to check them! Thank You!!!
The igniter clip sealed the deal for me! I had already replaced the solenoids before i watched this vid, turned out on but still no heat. Watched 1st couple seconds of ur vid, checked my igniter & it wasn't firing, so i threw in a new fuse, turned it on & viola! Dryer firing & working. Thank you! I cleaned out the machine while it was opened up & the blower too (it was all gummy & linty).
You're a life saver! Continuity in everything but I didn't trust the gas coils and valve. I now changed the coils and it's working just fine!! Thank you very much. Funny, the last thing to check and there was my problem.
one of the best youtube videos on the subject of dryer.repair.to the point and very easy to understand .love the wire trick to hold the drum.I also like the idea of changing the coils after seeing the igniter light but the dryer does not keep operating properly.well done mr angel.
Just installed a brand new Whirlpool natural gas dryer in my home and the burner comes on for only about a minute or so, then goes out. Through the peep hole I can see the ignitor glow for about 7 seconds then go out while the drum is turning. After about 40 seconds or so, the ignitor will glow again for about 7 seconds then die down. This cycle repeats over and over. This is a brand new dryer that was delivered to my house from Lowe's and it is doing this. This replaced the Kenmore dryer that was 1970's vintage that was still working when I received the new Whirlpool. I repaired that Kenmore myself over the years and kept it in good operating order. Now I regret having gotten rid of it for a brand new "made in China" piece of shit that doesn't work. For $920, I now own a clothes dryer that doesn't dry clothes. A service tech is scheduled to come check it out next week. It is brand new and under warranty so there's no way I am messing with it. Let Whirlpool fix their garbage. They used to make good stuff. Not any more.

My dryer is short cycling. Ignitor glow, gas flows and burns for 30 seconds. Then the flame goes out for 2 minutes. Then the cycle repeats. Clothes are not drying properly. I have checked for continuity across the switches. All switches have continuity. Is it possible that the heat cycle switch is getting weak and causing short cycling?
How does the timer factor into the dryer not getting heat? My timer still completes the timed cycle but I am seeing "infinity" across the red and black terminals of the timer. Confused.
I have a 2009 Whirlpool Gas Dryer modelwgd6200sw2 that starts up, heats up, then turns off, and does not heat back up.I replace the dryer thermal fuse and the high Limit Thermostat. I check the motherboard and saw no burned points. Cleaned out the lent from the hose and inside the dryer. I am at that point where I need a professional to take a look.

I have a whirlpool gas dryer and what it does is not stay heating long enough to dry. It will run, it will glow an start to heat for about 15 to 20 sec then it stops heating. Wait about a minute an ahalf starts heating again for a few more sec then back off. That's all it will do. Close don't get dry. On off on off the whole cycle Thank you.
I have a kenmore 70 series Gas dryer. My coils multimeter check parameters fall with your stated specs. But, I get the same results. Igniter glows red, solenoids click, gas blows, burner fires up but only runs for about 5 minutes then shuts off but never fires back on. 🤷♀️ Thus, do I or do I not have a solenoid coil problem? If not, what is causing the burner flame to prematurely extinguish?
A year later ... since nobody answered, I'll give it a shot. From what I understand, you do have (or did have) a coil problem. As the coils start to get weak, they can still open the gas valve when they are completely cool, but not when they're hot (or even warm). Thus when you first start the machine, it appears to work normally, but then the coils start to warm up, from electrical current and/or being close to a gas flame, and can't hold the valve open anymore, and the gas shuts off. Try it again an hour later and it'll work again... for a minute.
@@carmelom269 I replaced mine tonight. Like yours, the old ones tested perfectly on the bench, but one of them failed - infinite resistance - after warming it up for literally five seconds with a hair dryer. Glad you got yours fixed too.

my problem with a Kenmore Model 90 Plus Series gas dryer seems completely random and makes me suspect the control board. The start relay was replaced. The dryer stops randomly after a few seconds or minutes in timed drying or moisture-sensing. Set it to 80 minutes it might stop (not always) after 10 minutes or complete the cycle.
