- Alex, a renowned cybernetics engineer, returns to Santa Irina to take on an unusual project for his university's Robotics Department - the creation of a robot baby. During the ten years he was out of town, life for his brother David and girlfriend Lana went on as usual: they now live together and have a daughter, Eva. A good relationship is immediately established between Alex and Eva, and it just so happens that Eva changes Alex's approach to his developments in a most unexpected way. A journey begins for them that promises an intriguing climax.

great recap , this movie seems pretty decent and 100% relevant to where we are headed
I had not seen this movie, and one of the things I kept wondering as I watched this recap was if Eva was a robot. There were things they had her doing and saying that did not fit with a girl her age. I was also wondering if there was going to be a robot created to finish Alex's work, and if Eva was actually a girl, her consciousness would then be used for the new robot.

A very good recap. It's unfortunate that this film has not been dubbed into English. It's in Spanish and German only. The subtitles are not very good and the first time I saw it, I got pretty confused. But the performance of the girl who played Eva was so good, I saw it twice more. In the end I thought, because of the way he had bonded with Eva, Alex should have shown more emotion. But then---she was just a machine. Right?
I’m glad they are still flying the King air in 2041. It’s a Testimony on its toughness and utility.
Curious that the main actor began his career making German films, later Spanish films and finally American films (he is a Spanish-German actor).
Why curious? Even in those nations the goal is always hollywood, well mostly. Hollywood has the biggest reach and deepest pockets. Especially since he works for Disney, marvel, and he us a major character and a bug part of its future.
Yeah, my last date lost all her emotional memory too. On the bright side, she was mostly organic. My current relies on borrowed time, or suggestion there of.

A sad story and also an interesting warning on AI, instead of the typical doomsday scenario, it is about the, I suppose horror, of us inflicting the human condition upon a machine.
Eva cannot be fixed because there is nothing to fix, she is for all intents and purposes "human" in everything but body, her emotions and thus anger are very much a human reaction.
Poor Eva was made in our image and like us, was flawed and easily broken.
Saw this film a long time again well worth the watch, the young actress is enchanting

She is his daughter; robot or human he created her and gave her life. I'm just not sure why Eva killed her mother, and then had to be shut down as a murderer? Maybe Lana should have also had a human daughter named maria that replaced eva. As a stand in for the sibling rivalry between David and Alex. Need to watch this one.

The ability to free itself from its programming. Just the fact we can consciously suicide, against all our instincts, our natural drives and essentially reprogram our own chemical computers to break free of it's constraints and re-create itself in whatever image we fancy. We're not decades away from being able to understand how emotions work and what they do to form a working consciousness, we're centuries away. You're talking the difference between cracking a head open with a rock to relieve pressure and robot assisted microsurgery. @@rainbows_edge
