    Without the nutritional yeast and spices, this can be used as a tofu replacement since that is how Burmese tofu is made.

      Only humans are awakening to it. All the other mammals are still following their natural inclinations and continuing to remain carnivores. Do you think it's simply because they are as yet unenlightened or are they willfully ignoring this higher state of consciousness?

      @@kirbywaite1586 are you really that dumb? Humans don't need animal products for survival, other animals need it. Period. There's no magic to it, it is just logic. okay , so I tried this and I want to help everybody who haven't tried it yet and have tons of questions.
    the good thing is that I could make this within 15 minutes. It tasted amazing. It tasted like flavoured chickpea cube not like milk cheese but whether or not it tasted like milk cheese it was tasty nevertheless. I also put my own additional flavours like ground pepper and piri piri. it shreds well. so yup it's tasty and cheap.

    At first thank you for making this video, I just tried my first cheese according to your recipe and it’s awesome! I added turmeric, pinch of black pepper and some dried herbs and it turned out just delicious! It’s really cheap and easy to make. I was frequently making cashew cheese but you need food processor and probiotics to make it and not everyone has time, money and access to those so some of my friends that liked it couldn’t enjoy it. Your recipe is foolproof, cheap and no allergens. God bless you 🥰

One thing I do to save all the nutritional elements and the vit b in the yeast is to mix the yeast to the paste when it has cooled a bit and then I shape it into the mould. I have never made a chickpea cheese but this helps me with a failed Italian recipe I tried last night called Panissa...it's chickpea fritters. It's almost the same concept in the sense that the Panissa is like a chickpea cheese and then we cut it in little sticks and fry it in oil...the Panissa does not have any cumin or nutritional yeast but it does have freshly ground pepper instead. My failure of the recipe last night was that mine didn't come out solid hard but rather too soft so this video is helpful to know where I failed.

    OMG, my foodie twin, cumin and Nutritional Yeast! Ever had Koshari? It's a street food in Egypt that uses this sauce made from tomato and tons of cumin.. There's enough cumin in the sauce to turn the red color of the tomatoes to a bronze-like color.. I love it! It has lentils, chick peas, rice, elbow macaroni, crispy onions... I love it, my mouth is watering just talking about it.. lol! The recipe I have is pretty much the same as the following link, except for the amount of cumin, so just add more, go crazy...lol! ^_^ www.mattersofthebelly.com/koshary-egypts-favourite-street-food/ However, unlike this person's recipe the cooking instructions are different (you just cook everything separately, you don't cook the lentils in the oil, you just boil them normally with seasoning. I also save the chickpea water to make "whipped cream" ), mine says to layer all the grains and legumes, rather than mixing. So, we'd do a layer of rice (about a quarter of an inch thick), and spread it flat on the plate, then lentils, spread them out over rice, (not all the way to the edge, but like how you put tomato sauce on a pizza crust), then a pile of the elbow macaroni, and then sprinkle with chickpeas, then add the sauce and top with the onions. You kind of build it up like a pyramid, each layer being smaller than the previous. I tend to drench mine in the Cumin Tomato Sauce. I could eat it every day to be honest. I hope you try it and enjoy it. ^_^

    • @tanyawales5445

      Nutritional yeast is killed so it can't promote yeast growth in the GI tract. Try a little with a meal as a seasoning and see how you feel. If you have a sensitive stomach try not ingesting orange/grapefruit juice or citrus flavored sodas, coffee, caffeine, chocolate, fiery spices, uncooked vegetables for a while and don't skip meals. Once things have settled down then start introducing back the items I mentioned to see if you can tolerate them again. I had a stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer at different times from stress and that helped a lot. It also turned out I had silent GERD (gastric reflux) which would wake me up at night. One of the symptoms of that is stomach pain. I take an over the counter medicine for that.

    what did you add to the chickpea flour in the pot? What and where can I buy 'Nutricional' yeast flakes in S.Africa

    • @MariasHealthyCooking
      @MariasHealthyCooking  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually in health stores, but if you can't find it, you can omit it, the yeast is more for nutrition and almost a cheesy flavour. I did put all the ingredients in the description box, the pot had water in it.
      1/2 cup chick pea flour
      pinch of cumin
      salt to taste
      2 to 3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast (optional, it's for more cheesy taste)
      1/2 cup water
      1 tsp annatto oil OR you can replace it for 1 tsp turmeric OR you can OMIT it.
      1/2 cup water for, sauce pan

    Doesn't it need some lemon juice or something for the tanginess of cheese that we know from real cheese?

    • @MariasHealthyCooking
      @MariasHealthyCooking  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tanginess? Na no cheese I ate in the past never had tangy taste

    • @elizabethshaw734
      @elizabethshaw734 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maria's Healthy Cooking hahaha! Then you never had cheese because every cheese has a Tang to it and every cheese recipe for vegans I've ever run into or made has lemon juice or vinegar to replace the tanginess of real cheese! You are very rude and a bitch and don't reply to me again because you are muted!

      I’m thinking of mixing it with some cashew cheese, since my husband bought all of the ingredients to make cashew cheese. I would love to try them both separate and blended. Have you tried cashew cheese yet? I’ll also use grape seed oil to blend.
