    A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his TH-cam channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

Yes, but yes. I've played with a thumb pick for years and although I don't really analyse what I do it goes a bit like this. I prefer to steady the pick with the side of my index finger so I use my middle finger to brush and pick the higher strings. More importantly I do up and down picks on the bass strings for fast runs / riffs etc. It works great on electric too. I changed to the mountain pick last year.....love em! None of this has stopped my neighbour hiding from me but I guess I'll have to stop calling him Cynthia.

Thank you, Sean, for this video. I'd been wondering about the value of the thumb pick, and now I know!

A good friend of mine recommended a thumb pick many years ago. I started using Dunlop thumb pick. It took me about 3 or 4 months to feel comfortable using one and then it was the adventure of finding the pick I liked best.....😂

Beautiful tunings on beautiful guitars. I’ve tried a thumb pick and it just never worked, especially with strumming. After watching this I’ll have to break them out and try again. Thanks 🙏🏽

@@vkl47 I’m not going to hate on you for your “gullible” comment. I’m talking about not only this video but also his video a while back talking about how he’s learning to shred, which was an admitted blind spot or weakness he had and is now learning so he can apply it to other areas of his playing. Yeah this video could be seen by some as an ad per se (who cares, let the man make some money!) for the pick company, my comment goes beyond it though. Thank you though for engaging I guess…

Just got the ‘Light’ version of this pick and use it in a similar way. Really shines with my Taylor 324ce that is more mellow than my Yamaha.
For me, it’s still just a fun toy, but could see it being used live.

Thumb pick is cool, but I have trouble with the up-strums. Ya can't change the angle as easily on a thumb pick as you can with a flat pick. Love the Black Mountain pick! I really like thumb picking with fingerstyle.

Good product. I always liked other people using thumb picks. The thing that stops me from using one is that I should be able to use it like a normal pick when I'm not just using it with my thumb.

Do you use finger nails on your other fingers? My nails are too thin and weak, they break or shave down when I use them. I love to finger pick, too. I'm afraid of gel or acrylic nails bc my nails are so thin. I have found that taking MSM, included in my MSM/glucosamine/chondroitin arthritis supplement has improved my nail strength a bit. But, IDK what to do with them otherwise.

Picky, picky, picky! But yeah, I feel ya, I lose my grip on those slippery little devils too. I'm going to try this Black Mountain thumb pick, though, because it appears to stay put better than other picks, including both flat picks and other thumb picks, and it can double as a flat pick. Looks to me like a win-win.
