Well well well... I'm glad this vid appeared on my feed I guess you could say I'm a successful artist and I could not agree more. Creative Scotland and all the other funding arts sources over the years have ALWAYS funded the middle class. They are cliques who pay their friends. Same for all the grants, always who you know, not your talent. Friends & contacts is everything, it's disgusting.
@@premeditatedpatterYou don’t need a PHD but it’s very difficult for an individual to meet their criteria for example they ask for projected audience figures (as though everyone is a theatre company) they also mark you on diversity points. No individual can cover all bases but guess what a theatre company probably could. For the individual it could be argued that this is illegal on the basis of indirect discrimination which is covered by the equalities act. You are also as an individual going up against large organisations with salaried full time fundraising teams. It’s basically completely inappropriate for individual artists. They don’t care.
You should look into how funds ring fenced for arts projects throughout Perthshire has been consistently funnelled into Perth Concert Hall, managed by Perth Council (Also as corrupt as the day is long) for the past two decades. There is also a "relationship" between CS Board members & private hire companies getting contracts to supply amateur groups but providing far more than necessary to gobble up the grants. Public to private wealth transfer.
Did you alert the Information Commissioners Office? I would. Also, it helps to be specific in your FOI, for example ask for post code information, say first 4 characters of post code for those awarded funds.

You've over simplified the grammer school system in regards to how it advanced elements of the working class. You should be asking why scottish eduction was the first in the UK to adopt the American import - comprehensive education.
Very interesting - appreciate the research you put in exposing some of these people. I don't doubt Creative Scotland is corrupt but I think there is a bigger picture. It's a colonial institution which has the effect of directing Scottish culture in politically expedient ways and suppressing "problematic" parts of it. For instance Screen funding is all but impossible to get unless you are already in a position where you dont need it. The system seems designed to prevent an independent Scottish film industry from existing. There is one name that didn't appear in this video that maybe should have: that of Angus Robertson, Culture Secretary. Someone who I don't think has the best interests of anyone in Scotland at heart. Its not just Creative Scotland that's corrupt. Scotland and its institutions are rotten to the core and unaccountable to the Scottish people. I believe the reason for this is that ultimately all the money (and control) comes from the UK.
@@Orkwort yeah his name did pop up during the research and maybe could have dug a bit deeper on him but I was focused on creative Scotland solely n tbh they gave me plenty of content to talk on🤣🙈
I’m a visual artist, some of my projects have received CS funding however, I have always felt that CS is suppressing Scottish Culture. It’s a colonial project but very difficult to prove as no one would fund research into this so theirs never any solid evidence. I think it’s even worse for film. The films they fund are verging on being racist towards Scottish people. The protagonist is always some alchy guy that listens to classical music “so that makes him special “ It make me sick.
@@onetwothreefour79 Professors John Robertson and Alf Baird have done some research and writing in this area but yes funding that kind of research is not going to be popular with the people that hold the purse strings. I learnt of a good example of how this type of colonial control works in practice recently. Creative Scotland funded a group of Scottish musicians (including Mogwai) to attend the South By Southwest festival in America. Other musicians pulled out in protest due to the genocide in Palestine and the festival being funded by the arms industry. The Irish cultural sector for example supported their musicians in that decision. But not ours. They never said a word.
