There is just something so fascinating about the guy, you can't look away. I don't think he's someone to be admired but he is one of those special people that comes along rarely.
Those times will most likely never be repeated. They were special times. I came over from germany in 1969.I was a teen. The USA became my home, The hippie era was starting to wine down..What I'm saying is,I lived in Brooklyn NY then, you had to go outside too socialize, you went over to a girls house and met her parents.you had party's in basements. My dad used to whistle really loud, and I knew it was time to go home. This all seems lost today, mabe facebook and computers took away the essence of interaction-face to face interaction.. You used to see kids playing ball in the courtyards,on the street, this is all gone. Alot of fun back then
I found this poem about Jim Morrison from a book on amazon titled: "Midnight Writings by a Distant Mind Lost in Time" "THROUGH THE BREAKS" A wild child like the calm before the storm, a mesmerizing danger stirs up the world with a whirlwind of words. A lizard king waits in the sun among the desert lords, a spirit and mind mixed together with a poetic nature, steps through the breaks of time opening the door to the other side. Between this world and the next, his voice will be heard forever echoing from the beyond, tune in or tune out, however you can hear the songs. "RIP Jim Morrison"
yup. born in '64. I feel ya', Brother. You may have a few good years on me, but make no mistake. I'm an old soul. LOL. Jim was way out... way ahead of his time. As well... Brian Jones... Janis... Hendrix... the beat goes on. God fuckin' bless it all.
I think the guy at 0:18 is Danny Sugerman, deceased in 2005. He wrote "No one here gets out alive" in 1980. In 1967 he was a 15 years old kid "adopted" by The Doors to do assistant work stuff...late he became The Doors manager.
Shaman without a doubt! Fucked my life up lol but i love him all the same and so wish he was still alive, But one true face is "No One Gets Out Here Alive" Miss you jimbo!! xxxx
Cool. Babe Hill is rocking that beard!! At 1:38, not Manzarek, look at the profile and the hair. Manzarek had blonde straight hair but this guy's hair is brown and curly. Ray never had curly hair!
they all lived amazing lives. the stories they could tell us all! now we gotta live in this current cesspool of control and intimidation.....and obliviation. t
There weren't any. When I was a little kid in the 1960s you rarely even saw a chubby kid. No fast food except McDonalds and that was a rare treat. Kids had recess at school (unlike now) and played outside after school and weekends instead of sitting in front of a game console or being shuttled to numerous daily activities by professional parents. More moms were home during the day and they cooked meals for their family instead of buying pre-made or fast food, unlike now. Ironically at that time people didn't worry about the amount of fat in their food -things like Crepes Suzette and fondue parties were all the rage. Look at 60s-70s tv shows with the cocktail parties during the work week! There were no cronuts, triple bacon cheeseburgers, fried Twinkies, fancy coffees, feed bag sized popcorn cups at the movie theaters and the most important thing - NO HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in anything. Only sugar. Good times.
in rays book he skewers the oliver stone film (even val kilmer agrees) because ray stated that THST IS NOT THE JIM MORRISON I KNEW i have both john and rays book...

Morrison the Doors and the whole Laurel canyon movement is an interesting study . Morrison's father was an Admiral in the battle that started the Viet Nam war (Gulf of Tonkin)?
Morrison was just another rock star , caught up in something that came at him way to fast. Sad , he tried to save himself by going off to Paris , but his luck ran out !
I have to disagree with some things you say. First of all even the other Doors members said that Val did a spectacular job playing Jim.Maybe he couldn't be the true legend but he was great at the superficial Jim which WAS the only Jim the media wanted to reflect and know. The media did not want to know anything but the "light" side of Jim and the fantastic Mr. Stone has but an hour and a half to convey things in a movie to his brilliant audience and he had to pick and choose what they liked.
JM was so smart she just liked to drink too much....he was way ahead of him time and knew the direction this world was headed....harder we work the more we get screwed.
hell, if you're gonna read Ray's book, go ahead and read John's as well, ...also, (and these are really good ones) Frank Lisciandro's A Feast of Friends and An Hour for Magic, but, most importantly, read Wilderness and The American Night (& The Lords and the New Creatures)
it's weird how morrison's dad was a high level military guy and many other musicians are tied to the military too but i don't want to get too paranoid and think they are related. i think morrison's dad was a huge deterrant to a false false (uss liberty?) they planned but i'm not positive at the moment. he did know about it though. frank zappa is also tied into the mk ultra 60s hippie movement via the laurel canyon but that's a whole different topic. the 60s was not as innocent as we think.
The world was fucked then too. Maybe a little less obvious to the majority. Morrison knew it. That's why he wrote what he wrote & acted the way he did. "You're all a bunch of fuckin' slaves! How long are you gonna let them push you around?" We could use another Morrison today.
Actually Ray Manzarek hates the film and he said it. If you want to disagree with someone first get your facts straight cuz he has explained a number of reasons why the movie sucks. I agree completely with him because Stone just took a light side of Jim like that is the best way to make a tribute film to a great band.
2:45 JIM LOOKS AT HIS STASH...COUNTS THEM OUT...THEN HANDS OFF A FEW TO WHOM EVER IS IN THE HAT...TO HIS LEFT...??!!?? THE MYSTERY MAN...😎.(LOOKS LIKE it could be JOHN)..eating ice cream or a candy bar.. 👉😕👈PARTY TIME...👍😃✌
That guy is not Manzarek. Well, he does not look like Manzarek unless kyle maclachlan got into a time machine to do some investigation for the doors movie haha he sure looks a lot like Kyle but, not Manzarek im positevely sure.
Sorry...it is not Manzarek. Look at the hair, and the profile, the chin has nothing to do with Manzarek chin, and even the clothing, that piece of footage was filmed during European tour 68 and in literally thousands of photos I have seen from that period I have never seen Ray wearing a sweater. Even, the hair is not as long in in the forehead as Manzarek had during that period neither as straight, I don't know who is that guy but, not Manzarek I can be sure of that.
I know I'm a huge creeper for this: I hope when I die, Heaven is real. Not the Christian Heaven.. Just Heaven. A place where we can connect with those great minds before our time. I'd love to sit and have a conversation with Jim... Possibly, just listen to him talk actually. Both would be a dream. He makes me wish for death, selfish me. (Didn't mean to rhyme that last part there.)
How the fuck do you know, how Jim acted, and if he would have found the movie offensive, this just sounds like regurgitated, talk.sort of,spewed out, from what Ray and the other Doors, have said.
RIP genius Jim Morrison. Singing beautifully to Ray's distinctive keyboard in heaven.
There is just something so fascinating about the guy, you can't look away. I don't think he's someone to be admired but he is one of those special people that comes along rarely.
Very well said.

Most ever Babe hill footage I have ever seen; pretty cool!

man.. why does there have to be so much technology....
+darmenny they are happening but the gaze has shifted to lesser men
+darmenny they are happening but the gaze has shifted to lesser men
Of course those days are gone forever, they will never be repeated, like any other time, time comes and in a moment, it's gone forever.
darmenny I thought it was drugs , not wine that was the downfall of the hippies
Pretty and sad magic - timeless dream music - deathless poet
Thank you - Laulinda!
RIP Jim you was great and still are.
I hope you and Hendrix Janice
And great musicians
That die way to young are having a good time

Great footage! Thanks!

Shaman without a doubt! Fucked my life up lol but i love him all the same and so wish he was still alive, But one true face is "No One Gets Out Here Alive"
Miss you jimbo!! xxxx
Or i could be Jim Himself lol
Death makes angels of us all. It gives us wings where we once had shoulders smooth as Ravens claws
JDM .poet
Love the music, creepy, Sad, dreamy, soulful, happy, poetic, uplifting, impending death 3
Thank you.
Too bad Jim left us too soon . What a waste , he was Handsome , Talented , and a Genius
No it wasnt. There's not much to recommend a long life. He lived in 27 years more than most people.
@@mikeb1040 You cant decide that for Jim. He himself even had the wish to make a new album. You certainly cant decide when his life is complete
Cool. Babe Hill is rocking that beard!! At 1:38, not Manzarek, look at the profile and the hair. Manzarek had blonde straight hair but this guy's hair is brown and curly. Ray never had curly hair!
Great thank you ❤️
I think Bob Dylan is the most covered artist ever XD Hey Mr Tamborine man in the beginning. ^_^
they all lived amazing lives. the stories they could tell us all! now we gotta live in this current cesspool of control and intimidation.....and obliviation. t
I didn't see a single obese person.

Old america
It's a shame that such a simple way of life had to be "improved"
I Agree.
We Had it Licked then became Distracted..Lost..Raw Foods..Avoid Social and Government Programming...It Works..
I don't know who was singing "Tamborine Man". But he made Bob Dylan sound like Caruso.
in rays book he skewers the oliver stone film (even val kilmer agrees) because ray stated that THST IS NOT THE JIM MORRISON I KNEW
i have both john and rays book...
Morrison the Doors and the whole Laurel canyon movement is an interesting study . Morrison's father was an Admiral in the battle that started the Viet Nam war (Gulf of Tonkin)?

, but his luck ran out !
I want my minute or two back.
That IS Paul Ferrera
. . . and Paul is saying "I have changed, everything has changed"

That's robby singing Bob's Tambourine Man I think, atleast thats what it sounds like.
Mute the video, play a song from the doors in the background
Great footage; but why the Dylan song instead of a Doors song?
+Joey Dunlop same here ...without Jim the 3 boys would have been just another band
Ray. Yes, when Jim was growing up...probably in his mid teens...he did like Dylan alot.
sneezepal watch till the end of the video. if you still cant hear a doors song. you are not in fact a doors fan.
Jeff Bowes is this about bob dylan?
Rainbow Bridge no it a quote from bruce mccollough's doors fan. funny as hell give it a listen
So true!
Everything was natural back then and the future looked good - now we have a FEMA camp to look forward too.
in Fresno? My family moved too Fresno in 68.. I was 2
Holy fucking cow ! These footage is truly rare !!!
Where did they film Robby and his gf ? 0:32 never saw that before
Babe Hill was a good friend of Jim's.
Jim was an alcoholic and at 'The End' a junkie 🖤
JM was so smart she just liked to drink too much....he was way ahead of him time and knew the direction this world was headed....harder we work the more we get screwed.
Because he was a cia operative, duh, his dad was the one who sent troops to Vietnam
I miss him #lizardkingicandoanything

3am, totally fucked for work tomorrow.
Actually I meant that the guy in white (who's apparently Ray) looks like Lennon. I did notice Densmore in the back tho.
João Carlos he looks like the young Danny Sugarman...But Danny was a 15 years Old Kid in '68...and the guy looks older than 15...hmmmm. ..
1:36 boom is on the shot! hahah
There were way too few photos of Jim and Co. and way too many of Paul Whatsisname. Just sayin'...

it's weird how morrison's dad was a high level military guy and many other musicians are tied to the military too but i don't want to get too paranoid and think they are related.
i think morrison's dad was a huge deterrant to a false false (uss liberty?) they planned but i'm not positive at the moment. he did know about it though.
frank zappa is also tied into the mk ultra 60s hippie movement via the laurel canyon but that's a whole different topic. the 60s was not as innocent as we think.
For what reason is this insufferable version of 'Mister Tambourine Man, grafted on to the film, prithee tell me.
How much of this was shot by Harrison Ford I wonder?
HIPPY SOLD OUT
that guy is a dead ringer for David Koresh. i mean uncanny. tge one who was jealous of Jim.
Looks like Paul Ferrara.
