    Be careful about the tyre pressure vs temperature thing, because at 10:00 it is the prime example of what you should not do in any good sim with a good tyre model.
    The aim there is not to increase the tyre pressure to reduce the temperature, but rather to have the optimal pressure for the highest contact patch possible.
    - *Too low pressure* = sidewalls do all the work = the centre part of the tyre is not in proper contact with the ground (concave shape) = the tyre has flex due to low pressure
    ----> As a result, the tyre overheats but also has less grip due to reduced contact patch.
    - *Correct pressure* = the centre of the tyre becomes flatter = the full tread does all the work
    ----> more evenly distributed heat + optimal grip due to maximised contact patch
    - *Too high pressure* = convex
    ----> Reduced grip with *more heat generated in the centre of the tyre* (which is not easily noticeable at the front thanks to high camber, but becomes a problem at the rear)
    In conclusion :
    *In sims with good tyre models, do not change tyre pressure to change their operating temperature* . Instead, change the pressure to be at the tyre pressure that gives the tyre the maximum grip (maximum contact patch) with the ground - on the Ford GTE in the video, it is between 1.7 and 1.80 when tyres ARE WARM after a few laps.
    *You change the compound (soft, medium, hard) for the comfortable operating temperature, not the pressure.*

    • @sainesanalsa3324
      @sainesanalsa3324 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, that low pressure with tyres being colder in the middle really rubbed me the wrong way. Otherwise I think the video was solid however

    • @johnnywaffles2482
      @johnnywaffles2482 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also always though that when its colder you're supposed to increase the pressure to make up for the temperature drop

    • @bootsmanaa
      @bootsmanaa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnnywaffles2482 when its colder you have to "slightly" reduce tire pressure to make the tire carcass flex more thus generating more heat to compensate for the colder temp

    • @johnnywaffles2482
      @johnnywaffles2482 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bootsmanaa then why do regular cars always lose tire pressure in the cold

    • @dpro1995
      @dpro1995 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@johnnywaffles2482 Tyre temperature and pressure management is very complicated. F1 teams with people who have way more knowledge than the average joe struggle with them for a good reason!
      *The heat from the brakes is what most of the time determines how much the pressure is going to increase* from the pit exit to the long term operating window. The brakes are massive 400° heaters and they heat the rim very quickly, which has a huge impact on tyre pressure.
      ---> you can manage how much pressure increase you get in operating conditions by playing with the brake ducts (of course, within the brakes' operating temperature window, do not go for extremes).
      As a general rule of thumb :
      *Higher track temperature* = hotter tyres = air expands more = the tyre has more pressure when it is at operating temperature.
      ---> *you decrease the base pressure* (when the tyre is cold) to make sure the tyre always stays in the right window when it is warm
      *Lower track temperature* = cooler tyres = air expands less = the tyre has less pressure when it reaches its operating temperature.
      ---> *you increase the base pressure*
      What matters is that you reach your optimal operating pressure when the tyre is in its operating window.
      _Then, why is there some leeway in the operating pressure?_
      *The wanted operating pressure is based on the track and car setup,* not the temperature.
      ----------> _Long straights_ = slightly higher pressure to reduce rolling resistance = higher top speed
      ----------> _Bumpy, slow track, or difficult trailbraking_ = slightly lower pressure to improve traction by allowing the tyre to absorb the small bumps.
      *Tyre pressure is used to get the best laptime possible, not longevity*
      EDIT for @bootsmanaa : I agree that in some cases it is possible that the track is so cold and the tyres have so little heat that you benefit from a _slightly_ lower pressure as the track is lapped more slowly = traction becomes more of an issue.

    I think you forgot the brake ducts. Many people forget it, but you close your brake duct too much, your brake disk will not only stay hot, but it'll heat up your tire itself, raising the tire pressure. If you drive a porsche 911 RSR GTE around the nordschliefe in project cars 2 and the rear brake ducts are closed, you'll notice the car gets very slippy and wants to oversteer. Open the ducts more and your tires stay good. Also, like someone else already said, the tire pressure is not for the temperature, but the optimum grip. Read the other long comment, he explains is very well.

    Note: In Assetto Corsa, sometimes tyre temperatures are "broken" - despite setting them to the correct pressure values they are shown as "too cold". You need to set them to the correct pressure anyway and ignore the temperature.

    Another reason why the tires don't get warm:
    You're driving a car with so little HP it doesn't even matter.
    Try heating your tires with an Isetta, or a Prius (FM4) - they probably won't get hot, even on a track with lots of corners.
    I drove the Prius around Fujimi (a racetrack up and down a mountain with a lot of corners) for several rounds and they never got warm.

    Hey viper, una pregunta: ¿"Ablandar" las suspensiones traseras, reducir un poco la fuerza de los frenos traseros y poner un alerón me ayudaría a distribuir la mayoría del peso del auto atrás y así evitar el sobreviraje con los autos FR? También puedo poner un LSD, pero no me gusta mucho por el subviraje...

    • @viperconcept
      @viperconcept  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tu idea es correcta, pero está mal expresada.
      Con esos cambios, sí, tendras más subviraje. Pero el peso del coche siempre permanece igual, no se distribuye de manera diferente gracias a estos cambios.

    you should also do a video lesson on the mental side of a pilot. Driving is not just about turning the wheel and pressing the pedals

    I recently made a mod for Assetto Corsa
    I used the Top Notch Tuning (TNT) Mazda RX8 and put a spoiler, Drag tires (from Extreme Tuner's Evo VIII) and it has a great handling but oversteers even If I put AWD/AWD2. I can give you the link to the car and test it out yourself. Because I need just enough grip (like Race cars. Modern race cars like LMP)

    I wanted to ask if there was a chance (not saying you have to be it would be nice fro me at least) if you could put your lessons on the car, tracks, etc. in a playlist for people who want to learn like me? Sorry if that is too much to ask for.
