historic brawl is the best format on arena imo. you get to play quite a few janky but fun cards, you get to play powerful cards, you don't play against the same decks over and over again and the best thing is you get to partially avoid the arena economy since you only need 1 copy of every card. on the brawl banlist being bad: yes, but now look at the absolut shitshow that the commander banlist is.
I partially agree. 100% about economy. Only needing to invest one card at a time is super neat. Variety wise though, I find if you play a popular commander you only meet the same decks over and over. I don't have a good historic collection, only joined at the end of theros, and got a handful of eldraine, rav etc. So my decks are usually lacking a bit of oomph, and non stop mirror matchups where I have the weaker deck based on my lack of collection. I don't invest in historic cause I'm f2p, and hit mythic standard every season to max out on rewards, but my wc can only really go towards that cause it overall enhances my longhaul collection.

As someone that wakes up at 3am(pst) every morning to get to work, I really appreciate these early videos every now and then to keep me going early in the morning.
Swarm Saboteur is low key one of my favorite alchemy cards. Ninjutsu-ing it in off of a deathtouch rat or ruin crab or curse bound witch is a nice lil play too
I've been pretty tempted to jam Carnage Tyrant into rampy creature decks, since counterspell is such a prevelant thing in Historic Brawl. Carnage Tyrant and Shifting Ceratops got green ramp through some tough standard metas.
Separate! Any effect that causes a land to enter will be separate from actually playing that land. There might be some weird exceptions that I can't think of but as far as I know right now, that ability and all others like it do not count as your land for turn.
Til the end. Brawl unranked is cool, would like it more in ranked, would love actual EDHArena the most (WotC, I know you’re reading this comment and will act decisively and soon on it in the most favorable way 👍)

Brawl matchmaking is based off your commander? So whenever i play a gruul commander like Tovolar i get matched up with 5 color Niv-Mizzet or Golos? hmmm lol doesnt sound right
It's not based on colors, it's based on how good Wizards thinks your commander is, compared to the other Brawl commanders. It's a garbage system but it does seem to work as designed.

You know a person doesn't play Brawl often, when they think that 2 cards that were literally unbeatable were the target of a "Stupid ban list". When Ugin was around, you could play any trash ramp deck ( i used to play selesnya ramp), and you would win, not because you played better, or because your deck is good, but because Ugin resolved, then you have Field + a small amount of graveyard recursion+ Golos = instant GG
I have played HB frequently since it started, but I don't agree. Of course Ugin is powerful, but it is definitely beatable. Haste, colorless creatures, and removal all kick Ugin's butt. As for Field, it is obviously also beatable by any land destroyer or exiler. I remember Golos being extremely powerful, and everyone played it as well (which was pretty irritating) but now the matchmaker doesn't match my janky commanders against Tier 1 commanders anymore I am not bothered by it.
The real problem with the Brawl matchmaking is that it doesn't seem to take into account the deck and, because of that, you end up with most players running Evelyn the Grixis Deck rather than Evelyn the Vampire Deck. This happens with pretty much all of the multi-color commanders where their unique attributes are ignored in favor of all of the good cards from those colors. The biggest disappointment for me is Kels, Fight Fixer: there's a pretty interesting sacrifice build-around possible with her but because they threw sneaky blue into her text box everyone just plays her as bog-standard Dimir Control and just uses some token generators to protect her as they beat you down after having already beaten your soul down. Ultimately, because of this, you end up benefiting the most from commanders that don't bring a build-around expectation to the field. In that arena I really like Ishkanah since a Golgari Midrange deck is reasonably viable and, as the graveyard gets filled, Ishkanah can generate more and more spiders to give inevitability. I just can't play it as a spider tribal deck since it wouldn't stand up to anything else in the format that way.
I love hearing the commentary on your brawl videos after we matched up Saturday night. You keep saying you don't plan for the aggro meta and Evelyn only gets paired in teir A match ups. Then you play my Haktos aggro jank deck with Evelyn 🤣
It's funny how many people are wating for your daily videos, because videos that are posted on time gain about 10 - 15 k views in the first hour while this video has gained only 2k
Historic>HBrawl>Explorer imo. You should try Ayara. Seems kinda bad, but it has a lot of good support and if you build it right and play it well its decently strong and very rewarding to play.

If Arena continues to rank based on Commander, I definitely don't agree with a ranked queue as your relying even more on WotC's "tier list" of commanders for ranked play. Of course, then people will complain about Golos, Niv-Mizzet, etc. more than they already do.

Historic Brawl is my favorite format. Deck building each different commander is like a unique puzzle
