Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. I had heard about Joel McHale being dyslexic, but it just felt like it went a little more in depth, added a little humor to an otherwise painful issue that's unimaginably hard to have to deal with in your childhood. It feels like two guys having a beer on the back porch joking around about life, good and the bad, and I'm all about this.
This was one of the best interviews I’ve seen in a while, it was clear that Joe was very uncomfortable talking about himself but Ryan always has this way of making people feel like they’re just chilling in the living room

This is my very exact story, Joel! I have a "mathematics disorder" or previously known as dyscalculia. It was not caught until I was an adult. I suck at math, but did okay in geometry. I also am working on my Masters degree. But I struggle more with numbers than letters. Good episode and guest, Ryan!
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like Joel McHale after watching this interview. Never knew much about the guy and didn't dislike him, but just was surprised at how much I liked him. Great podcast Sickler. Keep up the good work!
if you like these , checkout the crab feast from the beginning i’ve cried from laughing so hard at work multiple times 🤣 it’s ryan and jay larson’s previous pod before honeydew started 💙
No heat needed honestly, never needed it, just change out the salt and alcohol a few times if it's really bad and let it sit and soak in the first bag for an hour before you start the shaking. The hot water at the end just makes sure there's no alcohol taste left.
You have parosmia. Look into it. My wife got it after her COVID (December 2020). Can now barely start to smell bath and body works., My cologne, and a couple different things. But you are spot on. We had to keep dryer sheets in the garage because they smelled like garbage to her. Shit is weird.
one of my five favorite podcasts. Also, I hope Ryan hasn't heard this a million times and he's not like shut up asshole but he should try the burnt orange trick to get his taste back. I had a friend who got his taste back after.
Ok so this was eerie for me. I inherited dyslexia from my Dad, my Mom was a proof reader and I was technically a twin in the womb until the other one passed. So when he started talking about twins I was like toooo many coincidences!!!!!
Loved Norm Macdonald and loved the tribute! Also, The Soup...the OG and Original "Ridiculousless/Tosh.O" where Daniel blames Rob for stealing his idea; but in reality...Daniels entire show was stolen from The Soup! Wish they'd bring that back! And again, amazing tribute to Norm! 👍
Will Joel Mchale come back in no way home as the bank guy, he is the one of the first community member to appear in spiderman movies, it would be fun to see him come back in a small role, or all the community members, or show college in the scene. Cool Norm Mcdonald story i miss him alot, really helped me during the pandemic, watching his videos, also check out the conan podcast, where he talks about him, i only found him when pandemic started, of course i have seen him in movies but didnt know who he was like a SNL host, im watching all of SNL during boredem like from the 70s till now, so thats when i found him and he was so good as SNL anchor, that the guy after him, was so bad, i was like are you kidding they fired him over an OJ joke, WTF?
Love these 2 . SIckler is so damn funny, and i've been a fan of McHale since talk soup. also, everyone should know about the Dyslexia font. I hear its a huge help.
Fucking slapped that like button before the video even buffered. Best podcast out there and when I see a guest I'm already familiar with and love, I turn into a telescope and hike my jeans up extra high. Thanks for always killin it ryan!
Such a good episode. I too struggle with dyslexia while at the same time try to work as an actor. I get so overwhelmed by new scripts and reading assignments. It’s always so refreshing to hear and see someone who shares the same struggles as me going on to be so successful while also staying honest and open with themselves. It’s motivation that I can keep going too. Thanks honeydew and Joel!
All in love dude, my grandpa started to not taste things too. Almost to a T the way you described taste is how he described it. He had a brain tumor and then eventually he passed away. Good riddance lol. But in your case you might want to check that out because once a brain tumor is formed it turns into a real battle man. You really want to get that fixed if that is your case.
So my wife wanted to take our 2 year old to the park. No problem, I wanna watch the rest of HoneyDew, the first part about Norm was hilarious......I'll listen to the monitor for our napping 2 month old, no biggie...WTF guys! BTW, good podcast.
Gotdamn Ryan is such a good interviewer. Leans in at the right comedic moments, asks the right questions, and you can CLEARLY see how empathetic he is to all these situations. Thank you for this beautiful podcast.
He is really such a talent in the interview game. Extremely underrated and needs to be way more known.
And he even handles it well when it gets super heavy. See the Jo Koy episode, for example.
Gotdamn, I see you

Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes.
Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way.
It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......
Community is stil one of the best shows ever made 🔥🔥
FUCK YES
So damn creative
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like Joel McHale after watching this interview. Never knew much about the guy and didn't dislike him, but just was surprised at how much I liked him. Great podcast Sickler. Keep up the good work!
What a inspiring story, definitely makes me feel better after flunking community college
Two of the nicest people ever
I love that he came to my little small town Of Athens, Ohio. Thank you!
This felt too short, but damn good. I think we need a pt.2 with Joel McHale yall !!
Joel McHale is awesome! I grew up watching him on The Soup. Still hilarious. Great episode! 👍
This is the best podcast ever legit have seen every one since finding out about the honey dew
if you like these , checkout the crab feast from the beginning i’ve cried from laughing so hard at work multiple times 🤣 it’s ryan and jay larson’s previous pod before honeydew started 💙
I feel like I was in this dudes body/mind. Listening, appreciating, throwing in a little to make magic.
You can clean a piece with just Epsom salt and 90% rubbing alcohol, just put in a zip lock and shake shake shake. Then rinse out with hot water.
If its real gunky you need to boil it
Microwave some alcohol and just pour it in and shake, if that doesn’t work your shit is too dirty lol
No heat needed honestly, never needed it, just change out the salt and alcohol a few times if it's really bad and let it sit and soak in the first bag for an hour before you start the shaking. The hot water at the end just makes sure there's no alcohol taste left.
Lol that’s what Ryan says
PLEASE have Joel and Prof come back for another Honeydew!!! Both need second episodes!!
That Luke Wilson impersonation at the end was spot on!
So, you’re telling me he improved all 6 seasons (and a movie) of Community? Just solidifies how genuinely funny he really is.
You have parosmia. Look into it. My wife got it after her COVID (December 2020). Can now barely start to smell bath and body works., My cologne, and a couple different things. But you are spot on. We had to keep dryer sheets in the garage because they smelled like garbage to her. Shit is weird.
Great podcast. Really good info on dyslexia.
Woohoo it's time. It was awesome to see you in PHX Saturday night late show. You kicked ass.
When did McHale become the new leader of the proud boys?
Wow could not tell he had a hard time on the soup it was too funny
I love joel mchale. Very sweet and very funny guy ❤
Wow I was a fan now ill buy tickets Joel's a great guest
McHale's hair is on point! Love it!!
Great show as always!
Ikr, like wtf? Lol hair and guns looking like a character on sons of anarchy lol
Joel aging like a fine wine👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Honeydew is actually pretty good when it's good
Quite a great lesson taught here, cheating your way to success is still impressive
one of my five favorite podcasts. Also, I hope Ryan hasn't heard this a million times and he's not like shut up asshole but he should try the burnt orange trick to get his taste back. I had a friend who got his taste back after.
Joel is a true comedy genius
This his burner account?
First seen Joel on the community and loved his character on the show have been a fan ever since he is hilarious
Huge fan of McHale. Fantastic seeing him on the show!
Joel is the man!
I ride. I live in Florida and the fact that lane splitting is legal in California is crazy to me.
The Soup was the shit back in the day.
He has been my dude forever.
Ok so this was eerie for me. I inherited dyslexia from my Dad, my Mom was a proof reader and I was technically a twin in the womb until the other one passed. So when he started talking about twins I was like toooo many coincidences!!!!!
That twin thing was a call back to a joke in Community
@@BloodyDahia ohhhhh I have seen some of Community but not all. Great show, he is the best!
Joel looking like holyyyy fuuuckballsssss!😍 (of course also Ryan, per usual 😘)
It's called Parosmia, the weird smell and taste thing. I have it as well it's been almost 19 months and it sucks
I hope your tour takes you to Central or South Florida! 💚
I'm jealous of that man's hair. Great show as always!
Great pod Joel's awesome
Happy Dewsdee my Dewds!
Tahir Moor would be a great time on The Honeydew.
Yea, his life was crazy. Kidnapped and had a Child by age 13 😅😅 would love to see him on
I second this his childhood coulda been a movie
The thing with Norm is that I didn't even know he was sick
It's weird cause lately if I saw him on tv, he looked very puffy like he's been on medications that make you retain fluid...
Been waiting for this. Yusss
Hey Ryan. Try denatured alcohol and Q-tips. Rinse with warm water in the sink. Much faster. Love your stuff. Thank you.
17:55 "It should be eliminated from the planet..." No laugh LOLOL
Lol I wish we'd seen Ryan's face at that point 🤣🤣🤣
What an insightful podcast. Great show as always!
Love these 2 . SIckler is so damn funny, and i've been a fan of McHale since talk soup. also, everyone should know about the Dyslexia font. I hear its a huge help.
When I saw the thumbnail… I was like damn we get jeselnik again?
I lowkey want those glasses. He pulls them off so well, hot damn Joel
Ryan, you're the best.
Joel is a delight to listen to ngl
Well well well if it isn't Harvell Jenkins, cutman to some of your favourite fighters
The cat story had me laughing 😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🐈🐈🐈🐈
Fucking slapped that like button before the video even buffered. Best podcast out there and when I see a guest I'm already familiar with and love, I turn into a telescope and hike my jeans up extra high. Thanks for always killin it ryan!
....first laugh before the theme even ends! Going to be a good day folks.
I literally just saw him in a Spiderman 2 clip and his then and hair now . . . . . WOW!
I was literally listening to this when I got the notification. That’s cool beans
You're da coolest bean
Hey Joel you are probably not going to be able to read this but..
I'm a big fan, what a lovely podcast today good chat keep it up🤙
You really don't need to add the heat part to cleaning the pipe. Just let it sit in the alcohol overnight and shake it salt, good to go.
this guy has the best hair transplant in Hollywood
I'm glad Community is streaming. Joel is hilarious.
5:38... Crime Scene Kitchen was fucking fantastic. I love the concept, & the fun of guessing along.
Can some one please show Ryan the Burnt Orange method to get his taste back? It works, seriously. I just want Ryan to get his taste buds back.
What kind of glasses Joel Mchale have on?
A.1. F’ing Podcast😩😱❤️
anything better than the british office? nope! love the Norm story xoxo
Fellow open heart surgery survivor here! I bet your kid has got a pretty rad scar, Joel!
17:11 be ready to LOL everyone Hahahahaha
My 91 civic hates those potholes. All around LA
I drank all the wine and ate all the steak.
Someone needs to tell the sickle cell about 420 cleaner... lol
This is going to be my 1st grader with all these schools being closed for 17+ months in my area.
Joel has one of the greatest hair transplants out there, looks legit as fuck. Seeing him balding badly in Spider-Man 2 is crazy.
Joel McHale tricked me into watching Stargirl. He dies in the first scene.
59:15 And there’s 18 of ‘em, I’m good. 😂😂😂
He got concussed skiing, but don't use a motorcycle as transportation like some countries do. (LIVE)!
So my wife wanted to take our 2 year old to the park. No problem, I wanna watch the rest of HoneyDew, the first part about Norm was hilarious......I'll listen to the monitor for our napping 2 month old, no biggie...WTF guys! BTW, good podcast.
Love Joel ❤️
