It feels good to have a smaller phone such as the 6A/7A. I haven't had a phone with a screen size this small since my Samsung S9. I hope they keep this A series around!

From a sheer value proposition Pixel 6a is probably easier to recommend because it's easy to find for 200 bucks. Right now you can't really find the pixel 7A for less than $400. I imagine in six or nine months The pixel 7a will start being heavily discounted. Google will probably sell it for 350 and then the resale market will see it drop below 300.

The extra weight of the 7a vs the 6a is a consideration for me.

6a is better imo. Better battery life and I prefer the black frame.
7a ftw if they addressed the heating issues but I hear it's about the same. Plus worse battery life is always a nah for me.
Wireless charging and 90 Hertz refresh. 🤷‍♂️, Not enough of an upgrade from 6a for $200 savings.
The 2 extra gigs of RAM are appreciated but still too big of a price hike for 7a if you already have the 6a.

The good thing about the 6a:
      - Weighs less.
      - 60Hz has one benefit -- it consumes less battery power.
      - Lower cost.
      The bad thing:
      - 12.2 Megapixel camera vs 50 Megapixel on 7a.
      - No wireless charging.
      - Fewer remaining updates of Android.
      - No 90Hz screen refresh rate.
The 6a works for me as I'm not a gamer. I need the phone for other work, photos and media consumption.

Thanks for your comparison. However, all phone reviews miss so much fine detail which is relevant to millions of smartphone buyers who have poorer than average eye sight. I have an S22 and just spent 4 days with a Pixel 6a,because I wanted better battery life and a better camera, which the 6a has. However, where it fails dismally for me, is the lack of refinement & polished / completed software. Font size is inadequate and always has been on all smartphones, except Samsung, who have refined the font sizing experience perfectly. Look - 6a has font size and zoom size - with font on largest and zoom size one below largest, the written app names below the apps are unacceptably messy and oversized, so instead of seeing 'whatsapp', you see 'whatsa'. Well that's damn poor for an modern smartphone. The Samsung doesn't have this problem. Also, in Outlook app on the 6a, the emails font size is very small, because it doesn't adjust like the same app fonts do on an S22. So I always have to put on reading glasses just to read an email on the 6a, but I don't on my S22. That's why I've decided not to keep the 6a and just live with a little poorer battery and not as excellent camera. Plus that date at the top left of the 6a home screen - Which clowns in Google design decided that date could not be switched off or moved?? 👍

Ive taken a look at both. Maybe its my imagination but the 6a has a more vibrant display? The 6a display also seemed brigter in manual mode using the slider ( on paper i believe it is). I watched one review & the reviewer mentioned the 6a also appeared to have an auto peak brightness equal to the standard 7. He showed them side by side outdoors and this seemed true

I have had my Pixel 6a for 2 weeks now, as of this message. October 1st, 2023. It does support fast charging, Fast Wireless charging, reverse charging, and reverse wireless charging.

I've had both and the 7a improves in a couple areas. Mostly with the display, and not because of the higher refresh rate. My old 6a would be horrible when looking at it in direct sunlight, especially when playing Pokémon Go as that heats the phone up lowering the max brightness. And it was to where I had to be somewhere shaded just to see what was on my phone. (It was almost impossible to see a thing) Now the improves this quite a bit, while you can't see as well as a flagship but the max brightness even outside is so much better.
Along with more ram, an improved camera (The wide angle is now at 0.5 instead of 0.6) and a better build it's definitely a better device.
But so not buy it at full price. It was at $374 for Black Friday and itll be on sale again in the future. This is a good phone but not $500 good.

I've been using pixel 6a for 8 months now. Camera's are good, especially at night, OLED display is vivid and cool. Brightness in everyday use is good, a little worse on the sun. Never used smartphones with higher than 60hz refresh rate, so it's totally fine for me. If you're not a gamer like me, the performance will be more enough with a huge margin. The phone doesn't overheat. Having no wireless charging is a bit uncomfortable. Battery life is pretty average - it could be better. One more thig nobody tells you about this phone is that it has terrible, no, atrocious cellular signal acceptance. If you're in a city -fine, you'll never notice anything, but the moment you drive to a more rural area with weaker signal - you're done - you have no 4G, no 5G, no connection to this world. The culprit is a bad samsung modem in the Tensor chip. They say it's slightly better in Tensor G2

could your bad reception be due to a phone cover / case blocking the RF signals.
that was the issue on one of my family member's phone. I ripped off the metal (!) covering she had on her phone, and the LTE and Wi-fi reception was great thereafter.

    • @MrIndependency
      @MrIndependency ปีที่แล้ว

no, nothing to do with the phone cover. Because I've already done my research. You can actually see comparisons of radio module performance of Tensor and Tensor G2 on the internet. This type of behavior happens with a typical silicone case. One more evidence to prove my point is that over time, e.g. when watching videos on youtube for over an hour Wi-Fi just automatically switches to Cellular and you have to manually connect to wi-fi again. @@mth469

@@mth469 I agree. You can easily check the difference in Apple Store since Iphone 14 weight just 4 grams less that the pixel 6a.
Take an iphone 14 pro (206g) and compare its weight with the base Iphone 14, the difference is like night and day.
