I have known Kristian for many years, we went to school together, and Im really glad things are going so well for him right now. He's a great guy and he really deserves it!
10 years since this was posted. As the kingdoms of men crumble around me, music keeps myself alive. They took the walls today ,but the bars played this song so it was not a bad day. I hope the great peace comes soon. Circa 2034 Ohio
This wouldn't be nearly as good if he wasnt having fun doing it. The fact that you can see and hear him actually enjoying this performance takes it to a level that makes you just keep replaying it. LOVE IT!!!!
This is fantastic: the lyrics, the performance, the voice. And the more I listen to this, the more I’m astonished at that guitar playing. He’s not Bob Dylan, he’s Kristian Matsson and he’s mighty good.
So stocked to see him live, The Wild Hunt was easily the best album of 2010 and I would not be surprised if "Theres No Leaving Home, now" repeats that trend. This is folk at its best.
@Draedon did he go to school in Sweden and learn English very early on then? I think his lyrics are very poetic...he's obviously a talented songwriter.
Amazing performance! TMOE is one of the greatest singer/songwriters I have ever heard, and I have seen him live in my home country (Sweden) 3 times. It's about time he got more recognition.
You actually make me sick, you can sit there and cast dispersions on someone's life, someone you have never met and are unlikely ever to meet. I make a standard living in the arts world; I'm a painter, I travel a lot, but I'm not famous, I haven't written a couple of mediocre songs to make a fortune nor am I the flavour of the month...does this mean I'm not amazing? Should I hang myself as there is no point to my life, as it's not amazing? Would this then please you?
@kartoffelsaek there is soooo many stupid comments on youtube, but u my friend speak the truth. your dead right! nobody invented folk music its a gift from past generations. Im a hugh Dylan fan, he just presented folk music to a new generation. I write and sing folk songs every day and i dont worry about coppying anyones style... because every folk singer has done it and will always do it, thats what is so good about it!
@Kathannara You come off as a bit contradictory. First saying there is nothing good about Dylan, just to go on saying hes a great artist. Putting that aside i`m going to have to disagree with you, i mean he is in no way a flawless musician but he is good at what he does. He writes some catchy tunes and he is pretty tight live. That makes him good (not great) in my opinion. But now i am curious, who do you reckon is a good or great guitarist in modern folk if not Dylan.
@Kathannara Thats a very biased personal opinion you have there. Bob Dylan was a great musician in my opinion. He was writer. Bob Dylan wouldn't be as big if he started in this era. Look at what the world looked like back in the 60's and 70's and listen to his songs. Yes his guitar playing isn't impressive but never the less he is still an incredible artist and he did move people by his words.
well just trust me, you wouldn't have to make that statement if he didn't sound like him a little...Bob Dylan had many different sounds throughout his career...its possible you arent hearing the influence ...I'm a pretty experience and verses musician and Dylan was the first thing that came to mind when i heard this guy play solo.
@TheZiggy112 I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Bob Dylan wasn`t the first guy to play the guitar. And Bob Dylan himself is an expert of emmulating other artist`s styles. It was his voice and words that made him unique, not his guitar/harp skills allthough he is pretty damn good at it. Nobody invented folk music.
@yensond In Sweden you study english from third grade, I don't know what the english/american equivalent is, but third grade in Sweden is when you're 9-10 years old.
@explosivetoast Calm down, it was merely a reference to the trash that is American pop. I removed the comment, because I can see now how that could be taken wrong. I do realize how plentiful music is in our day and age, so I apologize for misinterpretations.
You can see Liam isn't digging it in this video. His performance was flat and dirgy. Tallest Man had more passion that Liam could ever dream of pretending have.
@279storm Yeah, well boots of spanish leather is just a copy of dylans song girl of the north country so.. You're not really in a position where to throw rocks, okay? hehe /Another Native of the North Pole
apparantly po faced gallagher , tried to disrupt the t t m o e ,s , rehersing sessions before this session , tosser , always come back to this , brilliant !!!!!!!
I have known Kristian for many years, we went to school together, and Im really glad things are going so well for him right now. He's a great guy and he really deserves it!
The new King of Spain might as well be the tallest man of Earth...
This is probably the best live version, he plays the song at the appropriate speed, fast!
Can't describe the love I have for Kristian and his music. So much talent!
holy.... that was an outstanding performance!!
this guy is amazing
Goosebumps! He's not from Barcelona or Madrid by the way.... That's what he said xx
@Draedon goosebumps!
I think thats his Band name or something? o:
Why is called 'King of Spain'?
I wonder if it has anythin' to do with the lyrics of the song...?
+Castilla Flags cuzz the lyrics
SWEDEN??? HIS VOICE SOUNDS SOOOOO AMERICAN FOLK LIKE FROM THE SOUTH OR SOMETHING
this is the greatest 240p video on youtube
Some people have drugs, some have gambling. I have The Tallest Man On Earth as my addiction.
bobcot87 Music is the best addiction ever! :D
and i've just quit drinking recently (i know it won't be easy), because no musician can make music this beautiful if they're slowed down by drugs.
lol
loved the Dylan reference "I wear my boots of spanish leather"
Not really a Dylan reference.
oznerolk Dylan didn't invent boots of spanish leather, he just wrote a song with that title.
100% a Dylan reference.
he isn't a Dylan fan though.
lol
I thought he'd be taller.
jurchfield yea he's 5'7 I think. Not exactly the tallest man on earth. My mom is taller.
that's the irony of it all...
He was neurotic about his height when he was teenager so he choose this name :)
he's the tallest man in my eyes, babe

JUAN MATA
Joey Cook
(Via her Squeezebox on American Idol)
Brought me here.
Go figure.
Me too
....immediately jumped to my comp also....I would buy her song in a heartbeat
Moi aussi!
Same here
Why do people on TH-cam need to announce where they discovered a song from?
My good taste in music brought me here.
This wouldn't be nearly as good if he wasnt having fun doing it. The fact that you can see and hear him actually enjoying this performance takes it to a level that makes you just keep replaying it. LOVE IT!!!!
1:00 "that doesn't sound like G Major..."
he's sounds exactly the same live as on the album, such a talent
This is fantastic: the lyrics, the performance, the voice. And the more I listen to this, the more I’m astonished at that guitar playing. He’s not Bob Dylan, he’s Kristian Matsson and he’s mighty good.
It's great how he directly quotes Bob Dylan.
is that Liam Gallagher around the 1 minute mark
Yes. In the beginning too, Beady Eye can be spotted.
His voice, life... woa!! Soooo much better. I'm now even deeper in love with this song :D awesomeness
Does the text of the song has anything to do with Memory of a Madman by Gogol?
Still love this song. Those damn boots of spanish leather...
Amazing performance! TMOE is one of the greatest singer/songwriters I have ever heard, and I have seen him live in my home country (Sweden) 3 times. It's about time he got more recognition.
Brilliant!! Such talent, great cadence but not really tall. hehe
Saw him at greenman 2012, amazing performer, and an unbelievable guitarist, one of the highlights of the festival.
Love his music!!!!!! Only if it's like though. when it is edited it dosnt sound as good. He has an awesome voice live. :-)
Lovely accept for the fact that it's in 240dpi. Like looking through a milky quartz!
Awesome ❤❤ artist 🎉
It's the perfect moment to be the King of Spain! ;)
this guy is amazing saw him live at green man festival a couple of years ago and he was just great
Spain will be a Republic. ¡¡ España, mañana, será republicana!!
never thought I'd seen him on jools. I'm so happy for him. great music on tv. he deserves way more than this.
does anyone else think the announcer has an awesome voice?
He's great! His name is Jools Holland, and his bbc show is called Later. Check it out, the most eclectic selection of live music on british tv
He is very good and I Enjoyed listening to him.
aaaaw :') My boy made it big now, he's got haters and everything!
I really love his voice :)
This dude i Swedish.. the fuck is the loyalty!
He sings like Bob Dylan and I don't hate it at all. :)
The best rhythm ever!! :D
Your turn to do the same All I chose same time get ready before 11@ and 12:01 arrival

@Fluegfiskarn Om man heter Kristian Matsson och någon säger "from Sweden" innan ens uppträdande är nog risken ganska stor.
That silence at 3:22 gives me chills! Love it!
Didn't realize I've listened to this 35,000 times already.
TMoE is amazing.
holy shit he's good live! I love how quirky he is on the stage. It's like he doesn't even know how hot he is.
@yensond In Sweden you study english from third grade, I don't know what the english/american equivalent is, but third grade in Sweden is when you're 9-10 years old.

Sooooooo beautiful!
The way he looks at Liam Gallagher and is like, "Oh?" is priceless.
Read the comment for 9years but forgott to press like button , better late then ever, if u still are in life and good healt 👌😁
The Tallest Man On Earth is performing live tonight... lol anyone who doesn't know that it's a name of an artist will have a wtf face.
@BigTuna1994 I haven't seen one other video, and believe me I've searched through the lot on here, where he's jiving around like this.
@lovelyjubbaly yeah but thats just splitting hairs! but yes I agree with you although multiplication can be done on your figures there ;)
@fairportconvention1 No I'm simply saying this show is just like the Ed Sullivan Show, a place where a lot of music acts get to perform
@Kathannara By the way i think The tallest man on earth goes in the "good" category but mostly as a singer/songwriter as a whole.
i bet someone who just showed up to watch the show was mindfucked when he said the tallest man on earth and pointed to this guy
@ValledelosReyesMX You don't see how upset he looks in the background because he hears how much better Kristian is than him?
swedan has damn good music.
thanks from the americas
I hope Liam liked it !
ALL THE PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT: HE'S THE KING OF SPAIN.
This is a provocative comment that some people are gonna hate me for and I'm gonna hate everyone that doesn't agree with me...
I always wanted to know how to be a country song with random Spanish cities and clichés .... horrible.
@epiphone4life Its a Furch guitar..a great brand from Czech Republic... but I dont know the model.
@tanpopo17 never say that again. 1 "free thinking" clown will always oblige. ALLWAYS!!! I TELL YOU
Why does everyone pick on Liam? Has he said anything? I think it looks like he says "wow" at 1:00
@schwachstelle They just made the stage extra big for him, the audience is actually 5 feet away.
Although it is with the Fleet Foxes, I feel slightly upset there is a Lil Wayne suggested video.
I enjoy how intense his face is the entire time. Outstanding musician.
No worries, I was just joking ;) I'm sorry if you feel offended, that was never my intention.
why :O ?! what Liam Gallagher did :O ?! I mean, Oasis is a great band. I don't understand.
Takk!!
@TheZiggy112 Bob Dylan ripped off WoodyGuthrie. It's the way of rock. He's still good.
Fucking epic.
@mnyblr he made Liam look like garbage.
been checking out his other stuff he's great.
I fckng love from 3:10 to the end. The full song too but this shout is stunning
3:30 - how do you hold this thing i shouldn't have taken it off
Next time, I wonder if you could be so kind as to not include Jools Holland. Thanks.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I love this song! Salutations from, USA.
I don’t know what I thought he looked like but this is not it
@AndyH91 I don't know what Liam did. Haters, Liam is cool because of how he is!
i liked this before the video started playing. anything featuring TTMOE is gold.
damn juan mata can sing
Apparently he called TTMOE "some geezer" in a ...eh... derogatory mannor..
3:18 I came O.O
I love him
its funny because he is 100 times more talented than Liam Gallagher :P
apparantly po faced gallagher , tried to disrupt the t t m o e ,s , rehersing sessions before this session , tosser , always come back to this , brilliant !!!!!!!
