Honestly planning dialogue bubbles can and should be really fun, just take a look at the manga "Witch Hat Atelier", it manages it dialogue bubbles and panels so well, it's an art in and of itself. I personally try to be creative when it comes to it, I believe you should always keep experimenting :)
I'm not a artist but I am a audio book writer and I can't say how many times I've had to redo and throw away things it's honest just makes me smile harder because i recently got 2.1k listeners on a A Project I dropped and redid they were loving it and I hated it so I'm like. Damn
I remember when I was a kid and I tried to make my own comic series, and I gave up at the thought of putting backgrounds into the art. I feel the pain of background art.
