We have this all over Europe and you don't even have the guy that helps you, you pull the handle by yourself while the guy is in the cabin smoking pot

Lots of these in the Alps. They're not used for moving any volume of skiers, more for putting together small links in the ski area. Never knew it was a 1950s design though.
Title is misleading. The craziest is one where it's the old bench because the staff are so lazy and keep sending them out half empty. Meanwhile, the line is piling up so much that it can be seen from 2 miles away!
These are pretty common in the US. I’m not sure why this guy is making a big deal. They’re used in flat “valleys” to connect you from one ski lift to another, but they’re not really lifts. They usually run along the base of ski canyons.
We have these ski lifts in almost every ski resort in Slovakia, but they're automated. There is a bar that you hit with legs when moving to the stick which takes you up and that bar send a signal the thing that attaches the stick to the line. So the operator has to come out only when there's a fault (happens lot of times, but I learned how to "repair" it myself, so the operator is always happy when he doesn't have to come out of his heated hut).

Killington has one also. When I operated it the lift was on Snowdon next to bunny buster and ran at 800ft min thing wiped so many people out. Now it's over on Ramshead but they turned it down to around 400-450ft
They have the same one at Killington Vermont
When Lloyd Bolander built the Sipapu Ski Resort in 1950, that was the resort's main lift and I have heard that the run named Uno was the path of the original lift line. After they upgraded to a triple chair lift for the main lift, they moved that lift over to one of the side areas where it serves two green runs named Candy and Brandy.
