  • Brought to you by www.TrueGritWrestlingCamp.com - Terry Brands talks to campers about Michael Martinez, grit and character. True Grit Wrestling Camp was held in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Saturday, September 28, 2013. This 1-day wrestling camp in Iowa featured Iowa coaches Terry Brands, Ryan Morningstar and Luke Lofthouse. Wrestling camp counselors were NCAA champion Derek St. John, Ethen Lofthouse, Mike Evans, Bobby Telford and other Iowa wrestlers. Wrestlers from Iowa and surrounding areas were able to work with some of the best wrestlers and coaches in the nation and world.
Proceeds from camp were donated to the Michael Martinez Fund (www.MichaelMartinezFund.com). Michael Martinez is a valued member of the wrestling community who survived a propane explosion that burned over 80% of his body. Michael's wrestling mentality, his fight, his grit, his character and his faith helped him persevere and overcome this horrific accident that could have taken his life. Terry Brands talks about it in this video and speaks to the campers about the importance of having good character and of course he talks about wrestling!
This camp was sponsored by the Hawkeye Wrestling Club (www.HawkeyeWrestlingClub.com).
Thanks to all who attended and supported this terrific camp/event!

Yes, very. I've heard a story told by Tom Brands where he hurt his knee one practice and wrapped a bible around it and he swore it made it instantly better, haha.
