    This is how social interaction tends to go in Reef:
    Player 1 : Well, I suck.
    Player 2: Don't worry, I suck too.
    Player 3: Don't worry I suck the most.
    Player 3 wins.

    Seems like the easiest way to hack the game to encourage more interaction between players is to do away with board ownership and let any player target any single board when they play a card, scoring as normal.
    You could even have fewer boards than players, so there has to be some overlap, with players fighting over the best scoring cards & positions for a particular board.

    This is the type of game i think i'd love as an app.

    You mentioned not caring for the lack of interaction but otherwise liking the game. Any suggestions for something that would scratch this itch that has more interaction?

    I’d maybe avoid stating a year of support is the same as 1 board game! Might get people thinking ‘really?? I’ll buy a board game then!’. You might get more people supporting if you state how little it is each month? Just a thought, make it seem like very little cost to support. Also, what kind of board game? My brain immediately presumed £25-40 ballpark

    Amazing review! I own Reef and 100% agree with everything you said in this review. BTW maximum hand size is 4, in your shots it looks like you played with more cards.

    The almost primary colors make it look like something from Fisher-Price. And you didn't mention anything about the tactile sensations of the pieces.

    Hey, this is off topic and maybe I missed something, but did you decide to stop making comedy videos? Like your review of Dark Moon or the best couples games. Those were the funniest stuff about board games on TH-cam.

      No, they just take a lot longer to make and I haven't had the time I would need. I am writing one at the moment and I hope to make it in the coming weeks. It's still a big part of the channel for me but I'm not doing the channel full-time so it's hard to fit them in.

    I saw that in the gamestore. Such a gorgeous game, but not for me either. That is not a social activity.
    You could play it as a Highscore game, trying to beat your own highscore, but there are better solitaire games out there i guess...

    Only 4 cards in hand.... makes a difference to how it slows you down and reduces the ‘plentiful’ options.

    • @actualol
      @actualol  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a mistake with filming. I mention the four card hand limit elsewhere in the review.

    I hate this video. Your head is perfectly blocking that amazing Burgle Bros at print on your wall the entire time. Everything else about the video is fantastic, though... ;P
    No, seriously, great video.

    you should play the game in the right manner, than it maybe wil feel different?you can only have 4 cards than you have to play!

    Change the camera angle after you make a joke, it softens the blow.

    • @actualol
      @actualol  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not really sure how this would work. Can you explain a bit more? It also sounds like I would need to film with two cameras, or move the camera which isn't very achievable for me.

    • @jeromedemeyere1002
      @jeromedemeyere1002 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@actualol Yes, I'm sorry it's a professional quirk. When talkshow hosts make a silly pun they often bang their papers and look into the other camera. Single camera would take two identical takes.

    Interaction and or backstabbing or ruining a players turn is the meat of a board game for me, lets see if you are right (hopefully not, I really want to like this game). (Playing the game after dinner tonight).

    Since when is red called orange? The colors in Reef are RED, yellow, green, purple. The color on the card may not be as red as the coral pieces, but the coral is red.

  • @anzaeria

    Might be fun for some people but this game looks too childish for me. All those colourful coral pieces remind me of building blocks that little kids play with.
