I bought a new ms391 last Saturday with the 25 inch bar. They wanted to start it at the store before I left and couldn’t get it to start. So I went back the next day and they had an identical saw they swapped bars on since they still couldn’t get the original to start and I wanted the 25 inch. It started and I took it home. About 3 hours later I went to try it out and it would not start. Apparently they flood super fast and easy. I called the store and they said bring it back but that’s an hour round trip. And I already did the trip twice. I decided to wait a couple hours and try again. Eventually I took the plug out and pulled the air breathe off and pulled the rope a few times and put it back together. Finally I had to hold the throttle wide open and it finally started. When it did finally start it ran flawlessly but I gotta tell ya I wasn’t too impressed with the hard start on a brand new saw. Today I got home from work and tried it again and it started on the. 4th pull so hopefully it’s done with the starting glitch. Other than the starting issue I love the saw. The last saw I had was a ms 290.
It almost sounds like the place you bought it from is setting it up wrong. When I purchase mine they started it up in front of me and walked me through the saw. This site I purchased has been operating like a dream. I hope you have better luck, take care.
That 1st cut in the log that pinched your bar, cut from the top down, then stop before you get 1/2 way and hand load a plastic wedge into the cut you just made. It will keep the logs parted as you cut smoothly through. Also, if you use a beast like a MS660, it will protect you from the saw being launched back at you when the bar pinches without a wedge. WEDGES, keep one in your jacket pocket or belt pouch. I have two ms391's. I put a pair of aftermarket felling dogs on them....better!
Brian Martin Thank you so much! Great advice I appreciate the help. I just picked up two more wedges and I plan on keeping them in my chaps. I’ll definitely use them next time
Saw started well that time. Cold days good for cutting firewood. Its 92 degrees now in Ga. Im thinking on buying a391 or 460 husky. I own 3 Stihl saws so im infavor of the 391.
Jerry Little now that I’ve been running that saw for a while I can see it runs flawless. I have processed about 40 trees with it and it runs great. Thanks for the comment I appreciate your input
I bought one last night used for 300.00 it works great thanks for your video
Now that's a stihl ! Nice saw. I haven't seen one that hasn't been able to get the job done yet 👍
Nicely done with the safety equipment

At 12:10 I felt I had 3-D glasses on! That saw dust was coming right at me!
That was pretty fun to film but it was a pain in the butt to clean the wood out of the camera
Yes your right, I guess I don’t know how to read
