    That’s exactly why I needed both. One for Flood style with more lumen throw & the other one for a spot light more candela throw.
    Also the ultra low on the 20ix is useful being only 2 lumens vs the 50 lumen ultra low on the 23i.

    MJ, I really think you should also do a P20i vs P23i comparison. You have covered the flood vs.mix beam duty case before so to be fair, those who bought the P20i might be wondering if they really want to upgrade to the P23i.

    • @NitecoreSG
      @NitecoreSG  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you already have the p20i, I wouldn’t upgrade UNLESS you want the more useful inbetween lumen levels at 850 lumens. The p20i has too much of a jump from 1800 to 250 lumens. The 3000 turbo gets hot quickly, nothing that the original 1800 can’t handle

    Brilliant video, super helpful. I was wondering what the difference between these two flashlights would be as on paper, it would seem the P20iX would reach further with its higher lumens output, but your video has helped me to decide which of the two would be better for my use cases (which for me is a longer beam range and after watching this video, it looks like the P23i would give me this). Thanks again.

      Between these 2, beams will be similar, controls as well. The deciding factor would be the slimmer shape and if you need the steel glass breaker bezels.

    • @DonSanchez
      @DonSanchez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NitecoreSG I wouldn't say controls are similar, in fact I'd argue the difference of having a rear + side switch vs two rear switches would be one of the biggest differences. Personally having two rear switches for one-handed operation and the 3000 vs 1800 lumens are why I'm getting myself a P23i today. :)
      But I also have a question, at similar lumen output the MH12SE has a higher brightness candela rating/throw distance, even tho it has a smaller head/reflector, how is that possible? :D
      I know it has a different LED, but still... more throw with a smaller reflector? :) Of course the P23i makes up for it with it's overall higher light output, reaching higher candela/throw with its 3000 lumens compared to the MH12SE at 1800 lumens.

  • @pagaz2035
    @pagaz2035 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @DonSanchez
      @DonSanchez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Judging by the data on the Nitecore website, the MH25S would have a bit higher peak brightness and very slightly longer throw, achieved by it's larger reflector, with less total light output.

      P20ix as you don’t need to point it directly at the other person. It’s wider beam has a bigger area of ‘fuck you and your retina’s’ however the P23i is more focused so higher likelihood of damaging retinas.

  • @adamthomas1222
    @adamthomas1222 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was wondering if nitecore has a tactical light that doesn't have the memory function, or an option to turn off the memory function. So meaning when you turn it off after using mid brightness, turning back on will bring it back to the lowest setting. Because I work mainly at night, so I hate when I accidentally on my light on the highest brightness and I'll lose my night vision.

    • @twrcrew8852
      @twrcrew8852 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      these are tactical lights. and they have tactical and daily mode. It works in the opposite way you describe. Tactical mode has no memory and turning it off and on will always go straight into the highest (turbo) setting. this is actual "tactical" for law enforcement and military. What you want can still be had in daily mode, where it remembers the lowest setting each and every time you turn it on and off. holding down mode button will shoot to turbo mode on a momentary switch. so technically you can get what you desire simply leaving it on daily (memory) mode set to one of the low settings. and only hitting the turbo button when you want a high power beam instead of cycling through the permanent modes.

  • @DonSanchez
    @DonSanchez ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just got my P23i and... unfortunately I have to say I'm disappointed. My previous Nitecore light is awesome, but this P23i has a dark spot in the middle of the throw... clearly visible if you shine it on a wall for example. @Nitecore Lights does your P23i show this too? Like if you shine it on any wall a couple meters away, do you see a darker area in the center of the spot, or did I get a somewhat-defective light? All other lights I own have a clear hotspot without any artifacts...

    • @reallion1944
      @reallion1944 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      same problem here i see it as well, and i also compare it to my mh12se has a better hotspot and cleaner spill cant tell the different in meters but also i dont think the mh12se is 1800 lumens its more then that for sure.

    • @matheusmf4135
      @matheusmf4135 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its not a flaw. Every flashlight designed for throwing has a donut shaped beam caused by the smooth reflector. If you need a beam without this shadow spot, use orange peel reflector flashlights, but they will throw less.

    • @DonSanchez
      @DonSanchez ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matheusmf4135 Then why does my Fenix TK20R V2.0, with the same LED and similar throw, have a much better hotspot without this dark spot? According to specifications it has the same candela/throw distance rating (slightly higher actually)...
      Also what about the Nitecore MH12SE, I know it has a different, smaller LED with less lumens, but it's even "throwier" than the P23i/TK20RV2, but doesn't have any dark spot or artifacts whatsoever, it actually has the "cleanest" hotspot out of the three lights, even tho it has the tightest hotspot with a noticeably higher throw distance at similar lumen output...

    • @SträvanEfterSanningen
      @SträvanEfterSanningen ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DonSanchez Did you ever switch out the P23i for a new one? I've already got a P20iX, and I'd like to get another one for throw, but I can't decide between the P23i and MH12SE.

    • @DonSanchez
      @DonSanchez ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SträvanEfterSanningen I simply returned it because the dark spot in the middle is so noticeable and annoying in my opinion, disappointed me. Support said the dark spot in the middle is normal because of the used LED... well I got a Fenix TK20R V2.0 instead, it uses the same LED but doesn't have this dark spot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
      Btw I also didn't like how the parts where the glass breakers rest in blend into the lightbeam, you can see they're lit up like a Christmas tree because they block a bit of the light at the edge, instead of a uniform round beam you have three indentations... so yeah, personally I didn't like the P23i at all.
      The MH12SE on the other hand is a great little light if you don't need the dual rear switches for instant strobe. Very throwy for its compact size, good beam with no artifacts, nice light color. I would definitely recommend the MH12SE if you don't need dual rear switches/instant access to strobe (it can memorize strobe tho, and can be programmed to always come on at max brightness like the P23i). Also works with regular batteries (1 × 21700 or 1 × 18650 or 2 × CR123 or 2 × RCR123, comes with a 5000mAh 21700 battery) compared to the P23i which works _only_ with the proprietary 21700i batteries from Nightcore.

      Unlikely, the next jump in lumens will put it in the same range as the TM9K tac (9000 lumens) Won’t make sense product lineup wise. Unless they push it to a 5000 or 6000 lumen for minimal gains but way too much heat generated.

    I haven't been into flashlights for over 12 years. Never picked out that as the hobby that I do like knives or every day. Carry items
    Search as high powered air rifles firearms And I go through Different items a different times never had to get into flashlight because my first one was a night core that I bought about 12 years ago. It has seen Helen back.
    And I don't know what happened. But recently it's just stopped working and I've never had any need to replace it. I don't know what model it was. It was a 1000 lm and it was ridiculous even 12 years ago. IPad multiple people, including police officers. Ask me what type of light it was.
    I wish I could figure out how to fix it. I don't even know if you can buy that Exact one anymore and I love that 1. It was about 70 bucks.
    And definitely a powerhouse.
    I've purchased a couple lights here and there. But none of them can come close to the power that little guy packed. I don't know about all these other companies. But I know that my nightcore and the people talk a lot of trash How about those or that company a lot in forums I go with what I know and I know nightcore for me is well beyond military grade and got my money out of it 80 times over.
