It's crazy how much tighter they sound with a drummer that actually drives the tempo instead of James doing it, he could just play and enjoy himself instead of having to worry about Lars losing the beat.

I honestly feel bad for Lars at this point, he's done had 2 of the greatest drummers of all time (Joey Jordison, and Dave Lombardo, that i know of) fill for him and make Metallica sound 10 times better lol

Sloppy, messy, missing queues, bad tempo, he’s a good studio drummer but that’s because his engineers are on record saying they had to sync everything up because he was so off. We almost got a metallica without lars, and cliff still with them. Not sure how that would have been.

Need to keep in mind that Lars isn't just the drummer. Without Lars, more than half of Metallica's songs either wouldn't exist, or would be drastically different. You only need to watch 1 or 2 of the studio session videos to realize that Lars is responsible for a LOT of the arranging and songwriting. I'd say he doesn't write the riffs, but he kindof does that too, in some aspect, sometimes. He famously rearranged the main Enter Sandman riff into what it became, after Kirk came up with the initial idea.
