Lars gave me a drumset through the make a wish foundation when i was 15. A complete replica of his sparkle green Tama starclassic. Not only that but signed a bunch of merch and sent me tickets to see Metallica and godsmack in san José. Unfortunately i missed my chance to meet him and the band. His assistant arranged for me and my family to meet him however we missed the phone call during the show. I never asked Metallica or lars for anything. Lars along with the make a wish team built this drumset for me. Now 33 and cancer free its one of my most prized possessions. Pretty good dude in my book.

That cat literally lost its mind and attacked all my friends when they came over. Funny, because that whole Jason bit, in the past, it was said by sources that Hetfield was the one in Jason's face about side projects, said he was just drunk and apologized while begging Jason to stay, etc. Now it's Lars?
I agree Lars can have an attitude; but, holy crap, that's really picking & choosing because all those big (rock) stars have bad f'n attitudes.
The bass sound thing has several stories on who did what.
Motley Crue; they're currently lying about everything and such spoiled babies that all they do is bicker and fight. My cousin is a first hand witness t MC's spoiled bickerings when she met them in Cincinnati and said she could not believe four grown men could act that way. She said it ruined her from ever wanting meet rock stars again. I remember back when Motley Crue called out several bands including Pink Floyd for live back tracking. I think Lars, here, was probably just striking back at MC after they called people out for backing tracks. My source was Metal Edge back in the early 90's. I remember being angry at MC for that.
Tommy Lee is a woman beating pos and is no John Bonham so he should not criticize Lars much because Lars is a much better person than any of the MC guys by far. Nikki Sixx was onstage and used racial slurs against an African American security guard, look it up.
I can't say anything about Jesse Hughes. I know nothing about him or the band. Maybe they're cool af and awesome people. I do not know so I can't say anything. Besides, I'm not really trying to defend that little weasel Lars, just pointing out the hypocrisy of most people.
Dave Mustaine, has legitimate gripes but then so does Metallica about Dave's behaviors and demons. Dave admits to get drunk and/or stoned and violent. He and James scrapped a few times, from what I hear. How many f'n chances did he actually get? And why didn't he give Ellefson a second chance? Who gives af if a grown man is having sexual encounters with a consenting adult female?
James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich have always had battles; but also say they are best friends. Look at Hetfield's attitude on the "Some Kind of Monster" when he screamed at Hammett. That was BS. Even Hetfield admitted he was having serious problems including alcoholism causing him to be angry and hostile so he went and got help. And in recent years, it happened again.
This video has alot of truths but also fallacies. Obvious taking advantage of the "hate on Lars" movement to get a video out and feed the masses to generate money. That's the problem with gossip; people get a small perspective only, they never get the full story so the victim gets the hate.
Before you judge Lars, you may want to know all the full stories. If he a spoiled little whiny-bag? Yes. But he is human and has points. And, as Jesus said: "Let those that haven't sinned cast the first stone." The hypocrites will. Yes, they cast stones to appear sin-free, but, they are fools only. The innocent know better.
    BTW, I'm not calling myself Mr, Innocent. I'm a f'n @$$hole!! lol

As a drummer who was originally influenced by 70s & 80s hardcore punk and thrash, particularly Dave Lombardo on Show No Mercy, Lars has always been one of the weakest live drummers, I learned a lot of Cliff era Metallica on drums and it's not that difficult, I could tell when he lost tempo or covered for a missed beat with a random roll/fill, it frustrated the shit out of me. I also found out his studio recordings are edited and put together from multiple tracks, sometimes flat out copy/pasted. No wonder he can never play a song the same way twice, he never recorded them in a single playthrough.

As we're standing in line, there's security for Machine Head standing around, and, a couple other guys and I were just kind of casually joking about Lars being a douche. This went on for like 5 minutes. Soon, the one ginormous security guy walks up to us and calmly grabs my shoulder and says, "I understand all the Lars jokes and the hate he got over the whole napster issue, but, the reality is that he is one of the nicest, most down to earth, most accommodating person that we've ever worked with. Whatever hate you see posted in articles or comment sections is 100% bullshit. That's not who Lars is at all." Obviously, I'm paraphrasing because it's been a few years since then, but, this is really close to what the gist was. We actually ended up bullshitting with the guy for the next 10 minutes or so we were in line waiting. Just thought I'd add this perspective to the bunch.

The whole thing with Jason is sad, he didn't deserve to be treated the way he was, and I wish he was still part of Metallica. While Robert Trujillo is an awesome bass player, his backing vocals leave something to be desired (watch the recent live performances of "of wolf and man" and you will see what I mean) - sometimes bands can just be petty and childish - look at how Michael Anthony from Van Halen was treated by the Van Halen brothers, then you have Roger Waters and the rift with Pink Floyd... Childish. I wish some of these bands could put aside petty differences and egos end just get on with making great music.

I said yes it was but thank God it passed without wreaking havoc. I asked how he knew about it? You guys live 800 miles away. She said he keeps his severe weather alerts set to your location, because of all the hurricanes you guys get. She said he tells her that I should get out of there and move back home 😂. Lars also acknowledged that if it wasn't for music sharing back in the early eighties no one would have known who Metallica is. They were on tour and by the time they got to California there were 3rd generation tapes circulating around and that is why they were able to draw a crowd.
The industry steals from the artists. If you care enough to share music you are likely to buy the actual product from the artists.
Every time a new technology comes along that allows people direct access to the art the industry says it will hurt sales. EVERYTIME. Blank tapes, blank CDs, file sharing, TH-cam and other sites, et cetera. The data never shows that happening. I am a die hard thrash metal fan from the early 80's till now. I grew up in the Southern California metal scene. When thrash broke out I was hooked. I fell in love with Metallica's Kill 'em all and the albums followed. I died a little when they released the black album, but, I had hoped they would find their way home. I was embarrassed by load and reload and, in my opinion, they have never fully recovered. The bummer is that Lars has always came off as an arrogant little dweeb but it has progressed over the years. This was never more apparent than the Napster $h!t show and Lars spearheading the fight against what made them famous... Underground trading of music. It was apparent to every one of Metallica's OG fans that the "anti-sellout" band had sold out. First Load, Then Reload, then the Napster fight to put the nail in the coffin for me (and many original fans). Next comes Lulu. Don't even get me started. The image (at 5m00s of this video) of the band says it all to me... Sunglasses in a well lit room, thigh high shorts and crocks. Lars is a poser. They should have canned him instead of Newsted. Jason brought a level of legitimacy to the band. Jason has handled himself with class the whole way through. Not to take away from Robert Trujillo does also. He is legit as well. Dude has chops. All this while watching Megadeth show these dudes how it's done. Stay true to yourself and make music the best you can. Megadeth, Testament, and Exodus have all gotten better with age. Metallica, well they are rich as f**k, so I guess that was the goal. I don't hate Lars, I just feel he would do better managing Lady Gaga than the drummer for Metallica. \m/

Lars decades ago and Lars now are two different things. Years ago he def seemed pretty egotistical but over the past couple decades based on all the stuff I've seen he seems to have really mellowed out. To an extent I think his egotism and self confidence are part of what brought Metallica success, he wasn't afraid to have his say and get things the way he wanted them, and clearly that worked out pretty well at the time. I can imagine he must have been annoying as fuck but at this point to me it is what it is and he seems pretty chill now honestly. And really, his arrangements are a big part of Metallica's songwriting in the end, there's a reason why the songs are Hetfield/Ulrich and not just Hetfield on the writing credits. He def was a prick at times but also instrumental to Metallica's success and nowadays he seems like a nice guy, I'd say.

It is more like a liberation, I don't think these guys deal with the problems that 90% of the population has. At least they don't have to worry to pay the rent or think if you will have enough money to bring home the next day, or thinking how are you going to pay your debts. Is ridiculous that on top of having millions of dollars they still like to play the victim role. I for sure know that someone who has worked for real is not going to "PRAISE" that. Don't put them as victims cause they have everything in the world
