Caveat emptor for sure. I’ve been lucky with my $40 clarinet which turned out to be a very good condition Elkhart....a chunk of cork was missing but was highlighted in one of the pictures. Easy job to fix. Maximum enjoyment over past 8 months. But the description given was very detailed. So I felt happy at spending this “ huge amount” of money. If you like vintage British motorcycles, there are many exaggerated descriptions on eBay of somebody’s abandoned project, e.g., Bonneville on some beat up 650. Bonneville might refer to some aspect but the basic motor maybe from another model.
That is the problem with bidding on ebay. $100 for seller to start "lure" bidding. If it is not profiting, they will switch a broken ones. So finding a bundy clarinet took him a week!
eBay can be very confusing when it comes to dealing with problems. It can be difficult to figure out how to go through their policy menus to do the right thing. I'm sure they think it is straight forward but in reality, it is not when you use them rarely. When I've had need of them I've done searches on the internet also for additional help ideas. I've eventually muddled my way through.
Wow, more than 11 minutes just to say that a guy sent you a normal clarinet instead of a bass clarinet and that Ebay refunded you, seriously don't you think you could have made it shorter ?!! I am going to open a ticket on TH-cam to get my money back ! ;)

a beat up bundy clarinet isn't worth the cost of shipping. That is as true today just as it was 20 years ago.
