Things you missed: 1. Most ev owners charge at home and may have solar or ev plans that provide super cheap pricing, e.g. 3 hour free power windows on weekdays or even everyday. 2. Charging after a days driving might mean topping up 5-20% of the battery for most. This would take less than an hr. 3. Most ev owners only use fast chargers for holidays or roadtrips. Who cares if it costs a little more for those occassional trips. 4. When travelling, the Plugshare app will help determine which chargers are working and which arent. No guesswork. Just check on the app if the charger is working before you set off. Personally I charge for free at home and for free at a local carpark as part of my weekly routine. Hard to beat that.
Honestly once you’ve done a couple of battery cycles, it’s the easiest way to own a car. We got one and it was so good, we got rid of our petrol car. The only people who shouldn’t consider it are people who live in central Australia and commute 700km a day, and people who just love combustion engines
2:47 why why?. i do this in Indonesian 🇮🇩. Why the government can stop me from laying cables on my own land? 2:53 I can put it on a pole or sink it into the ground 5cm
Unless you have a smart elec meter the comment about charging at home on "off peak" rates. Normally off peak rates only apply to heating the hot water. And the "off peak" electrical circuit and cheap rates does not apply or go to household power points, unless you have a smart elec meter
@@JoshuaMcTackett yes that right, but basic meters do not have that option. And smart meters do have it. Energy Australia network has gone to smart meters years ago. But Endeavour Energy not as common
@@JoshuaMcTackett legit answer: I was interested to know about how long they take to charge and based on what he said it made want to never buy one. Thank you

correct.
A pain without own driveway/car space with charger. Great to own if you have those.
Very informative and well executed video. 10/10.
Appreciate the positive feedback!
Thanks mate, very relevant topic indeed!

Yeah this is in Australia. Most council regulations forbid it. Sounds Indonesia makes it easier for people with EVs.

That’s controlled load. Off peak is different. It’s only about the time that your household uses it.

surely all stand alone houses have smart meters these days.
Dont MG advise not to charge off an extension cord?
Wow....plug the charge cable in, well done. Once you've done that go back to some planking....
Planking is so good for your core, eh?
@carsales ...hehehe
I'm still not buying an EV but great vid nonetheless. Thanks guys
Appreciate that, glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Thor
I really do not have time to stay 40-60 mins per charge while doing interstate travel, fill petrol in 5 mins, then move.
It's possible that charging times will improve. The tech is always evolving. But there will always be pros and cons.
do you really not have time, don't you eat while driving interstate, unless your a truckie of course.
excuse me, one can go up to 32amps on Single phase. I run mine at 20amps on AGL EV night charge at 8c per kwh.
please get your facts right.
Don’t even bother buying one
on the contrary, anyone buying pure ICE is buying a worthless product in 5-10 years time. It will be hybrids or EV soon.
Yep, buying an ICE car at this point is just dumb for so many people

My car can charge in 20 minutes once a month , not that hard . I can drive over 500 k
