    Beautiful transformation as usual Bob. The work you put in really show in the final model, better than when it came out of the factory. I felt the tension of removing the masking tape along with you and it wasnt me who’d put 3 days work in. I can see from this how difficult two tone work is but when you get results like this its worth it. This model would stand out in the finest of collections. Well done indeed Bob. All the best Col 👍

      Garry Hills hi mate, yeah I’ll try not to but I can only do the videos if I got the models to start with, also I need the decent weather for spraying and sometimes I gotta wait for new parts 😬. As it happens I’m ok for a couple more videos because of the generous chap in Australia who’s donated me some more models 👍

    Another superb restoration, Bob! Yeah, masking always makes me nervous, too. I am amazed that Corgi put so much detail and engineering into their vehicles, and left the interiors of some just a plain vacuuformed piece.

    • @BobWilliscorgi
      @BobWilliscorgi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      rdk_metalmelter _ yes it’s strange that they skimped on the interiors?

  • @jesterger
    @jesterger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That restoration is too, too, sweet! You can take a little bit of the tackiness off your masking tape, by running it over your pants real quick. It should still stick down enough to mask but not so well, that it pulls off the paint underneath.

  • @johndavey72
    @johndavey72 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Bob, l'm still playing catch up! Go to an auto paint shop like autoquip or the paint centre in Newton and get a roll of fine line tape it will save a lot of hassle. When you mask up cover the whole car as you have but leave enough space to do the final mask with the fine line. When you have finished painting let the paint flash off and then remove the fine line. When pulling off the fine line pull slightly downwards/upwards towards the freshly painted section or pull directly back towards the remaining tape. Best thing to do is try it out on a scrapper so you can see the result. Cheers mate!

      John Davey thanks mate but I got some fine Tamiya masking tape now as you’ll see in the later videos 👍

    She’s a beauty Bob, nice restro. Your pretty good on doing two tone paint jobs. I especially like how you reproduce parts and use AC glue with baking soda powder for strengthening hand made parts, I’m still. learning new techniques, this also comes in handy being a model railroader. Thank you Bob, enjoy your videos, take care buddy😎👍👍👍🚗 from the Eastern Shore of Maryland🦀🌾🍺🍺🍺

    Didn't no about the back lights coming of the body like that ,so thanks for that.

    Hi Bob, very Nice restoration, and with the new masking tape you Will have a very Sharp overlap, Im using it myself. Now seems to have missed what your are using for the Chrome Parts, as looking great!

  • @1701_FyldeFlyer
    @1701_FyldeFlyer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple of suggestions, get some Tamiya masking tape, abot 3/8th of an inch wide. Use this for masking the paint joint line then put ordinary masking tape over that but not to the very edge. The ordinary masking tape edge isnt straight and doesnt do contours very well due to its thickness whereas the Tamiya tape does. Peel the tape off at 45 degrees away from the paint edge. If you can, peel the tape off before the paint sets hard. This will lessen any 'ridge' where the two colours meet.
    Think about getting an airbrush and compressor. They're easy to use and with rattle cans 5 quid a pop, the airbrush will soon pay for itself. Ive got this Bentley in my loft box, played with it for hours and was one of my favourite corgi's. Nice work.

    • @BobWilliscorgi
      @BobWilliscorgi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gonads1259 yes I’ve got some 10mm Tamiya tape coming but I won’t be getting into the airbrush scene as I’ve not got the space for it 😬

    • @BobWilliscorgi
      @BobWilliscorgi  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sameer Baig thanks mate, I’m glad you enjoy watching, I also watch Marty but his camera angles seem to be more assorted as he gets a lot of help from his family members on the filming side of things whereas I’m on my own and I can only try my best. If I spent too long stop starting to try and get lots of different scenes too much it would take me ages to finish the video and the restoration. 😉👍

    Thanks Bob, very nice end result. Difficult to believe Corgi would spend so much time detailing, suspension, steering, jewels, opening boot and a two colour paint, yet leave us with that nasty red cheap vacuum firmed blood red interior. I suppose the red might go better with a silver and white car.🆒🏁

  • @peterwarner9572
    @peterwarner9572 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nicely done! Think the only thing that might have made the 2 tone paint a bit difficult was maybe the quality of the masking tape itself? Other than that, I couldn't see any colour bleed or anything?

    dont mean to be pedantic, but caustic soda is not acid, its alkalinic,, very strong. same effect but on the other side of the ph neutral line.

    • @BobWilliscorgi
      @BobWilliscorgi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      paul hill yes mate I have been told this before but I’m no chemistry expert and also I’m from Devon, so I keep it simple for people and refer to it as acid, if it burns the skin, eyes, and not healthy to breathe in then to me it’s no better than acid.
      Thanks for the information though and thanks for watching the videos 👍😊
