I love hearing Lexi talk about the technical stuff. It's so fun to learn about whetever Lexi says.
Agreed! I feel like Lexi could teach a class about this! 😁
Nerd blabble
This is not just her lane it is her whole damn highway!😆
Not just her highway. It’s her whole city
There is something cozy about someone who has a super calming voice and is also very knowledgeable XD It's like nerdy ASMR.
I'm having the absolute worst of Decembers one can imagine, so seeing Lexi doing TechSupportGore warms my little heart.
Hope your December gets better.
❤❤❤❤
Hope it gets better
I hope everything goes better ❤
Have better month ❤
For some reason I started thinking it could be fun to see a D&D Lexi character as a Santa Claus helper; the idea of Santa having a tech support kitty just makes me smile.
YES! That sounds awesome!
I hope Lexi sees this comment cause I really want to see this
@@e_nerd1110 I hope so too, almost every comment I've made on this channel seems to have gone unnoticed; except that one comment a few months ago that got a heart, but the rest barely got any likes and no hearts or response comment.
Brooo i would want to see lexi do r/dndmemes might be fun
I’m on board
People are scarily comfortable messing with electricity considering it can just burn your house down
I know, right? I can't even plug shit into an extension cord without checking google to make sure it's safe.
@@undyingUmbrage413 I mean, safety is one thing but THIS, this you call paranoia.. In normal circumstances you should be fine unless you try to plug-in something weird or mess around with the electric stuff. We are in Europe, Poland, having lived in an apartment on 10th floor of a block. We lived there for about 20 years and NOTHING this horrible has ever happened to us and we have tons of electric stuff.
@@LugiDergX Maybe? I'm exaggerating just a bit, I mostly only google larger things, not like, chargers or stuff like that. Extension cords are actually kinda fucky about what is and isn't okay to plug into them from what I've read, and I think it's better to be safe than burn your house down. Not like it wastes much time double checking if I can plug my lizard's heat lamp into an extension cord, or a space heater.
@@undyingUmbrage413 The thing is, as I have mentioned in my comment, we do use large devices. Fridges, TVs, etc. Lived in same place for over 20 years without incident. That definitely proves at least something.
@@LugiDergX I mean sure, maybe the risk isn't very high, but I have a respectful fear of domestic lightning and I'd prefer to keep chances of electric fires as low as I can.
As I'm sitting in a room surrounded by server racks, I can confidently say that's not "No more connecty" it's "Bobby! Get the cable stretcher!"
60% of America's copper phone infrastructure is made of fishing line wrapped in well-meaning fortune cookie fortunes and probably soaked in coffee and nicotine

Wish Lexi and her spicypillows rants were around back in 2008 when I would lay in my bed with my mom's Macbook pro sitting directly on my chest inches from my face and on top of a comforter, with the battery packs in the back panel bulging so far out they made the perfect ramp for me to see the screen and keyboard from my 45 degree angle. Sometimes if I had cramps I'd just put the burning hot laptop or charging block directly on my uterus
How are you still alive?
Oh God lmao
This reminds me of my early days as a tech. The year is 2014. Customer states their computer is running slow. I arrive, and they have 4 dogs, 6 cats, a few birds, and they smoke indoors. It's a Windows 98 machine that's never been cleaned. I opened it and threw up immediately. I have never seen that color before or since, it was the strangest clumps of brownish orange goo filling up half the tower. How it didn't catch fire, I'll never know.
Oh my god
Having to clean a nicotine-stained computer is just the worst.
@@TitaniaBird Man, I've smoked next to this computer for like five years and I don't have "goo" in it lol. The dust levels are outta this world every time I blow it out, though.
I opened one up once for the same complaint and found dead cockroaches. Was about 2010, Windows XP.
@@FuckGoogle502the cats probably shat in it
"I've never seen a new smart watch with the same capabilities and a week long battery life"
That would explain why it was bought. Easier to just forcibly discontinue the better product so they don't have to make their own product better.
“This is technically known as f***ed up” of course only the absolute highest of IT standards from Lexi 💚💚💚
I love listening to Lexi just react to this stuff. You can tell Lexi is very passionate about this and will infact make good on her threats if she finds you doing the really awful ones.
dang right
So THAT'S how I can summon Lexi!
I finally bet to reply to a comment of yours!@@TheLexikitty

Well fitting since this topic is not just her lane it is her entire damn highway!
I like how Lexi started singing Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash, before gasping mid verse at a screw driven into a battery.
7:34 My dad works in IT, and one time, our router was in a hot room and it overheated, so he put it in the freezer for 20 minutes and it worked completely fine after that. I suppose the solution seems quite obvious, but him being someone who has been in this industry for decades, it really surprised me. Also we told my sister "oh the router froze" and we all laughed so hard when she saw. (Also WE NEED MORE LEXI)
Lexi feels like a very tired yet energetic parent explaining how tech works to a small kid
I mean, cause she basically IS?..
Lexi is the fun cousin who is utterly exhausted but is having so much fun teaching tech stuff to a child that she doesn’t care
Lexi is always a blast because atleast half of the video is story time
4:37 Since Lexi didn't want to (L)explain what the problem is, I will there's exposed capacitors and wiring on that charger, if the two touch the whole building is going down with it
yikes...thats a bad thought...
SHE'S BAAAAACK!
There’s mansplaining, there’s womansplaining, there’s enbexplaining (i’m coining that as a thing for this joke)
and then there’s the queen of them all, LEX-SPLAINING
I love tuning into some lexplanations
When you said “can’t repair a built in HDMI output” I just about had a conniption, because that’s exactly what I’m doing on an XBOX One X while watching this in the background lmao
12:00 If I were that Customer Service Person, the instant I saw that, my response would be to take a step back and Politely but FIRMLY ask the Customer to GENTLY pick up that Incendiary Grenade and remove it from the store before it goes off and starts a fire that can't be put out...
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
"I didn't want to buy a new one" normally I'd say "if it works…" but that's a safety hazard on multiple levels
always a good day when lexi narrates
Yeah
12:31 Hey Lexi, I'll see your Jar of Mayonnaise and Air Compressor and Raise you a Sandblaster and 500 Lbs. of Table Salt...
I'm a trained Electrician and this Pisses me Off as much as seeing 700 Lbs. of single-color Spaghetti in a Network Closet Pisses you Off...
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Edit: If I ever built a Network Closet that had to have wall mounted Server Racks, the very first thing I'd do is locate the studs in the wall I had to mount the rack to and then screw a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood to the wall making sure EVERY 3 inch deck screw hit a stud...THEN I'd screw the rack to the plywood so it didn't matter WHERE the rack mounting holes landed, THERE WILL BE A SOLID STRUCTURE UNDER IT!!!
Whenever anything involving tech that cause people to fear, Lexi, the hero, will make those foes disappear. :D
With mayonnaise

I loved my pebble. It was the best watch ever. And my heart will forever be broken that it broke.
same
Lexi. Friendly, chaotic computer nerd, and sweetheart of the Emkay channel.
When you read a subreddit name, and already you're thinking "oh, yep. this is gonna be lexi." and then you're right! ❤
20:43
There's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution.
If that ain't the truth. One of the machines at my old school had a leak in an oil line, the solution was to hang a cup under it with some welding wire.
The cup was a Tim's cup, that they stopped making a couple decades ago
I remember the first time I smelled magic smoke.
I was derping on my PC, doing I forget when I heard this 'Pop' and about 3 seconds later my computer went 'bewooop' and wouldn't turn back on again.
Seconds later, I smelled... something... I'd never smelled before. Later discovered the problem was in my PSU, and it evidently had something in it emulate a piece of popcorn.
That was the day I learned what ozone smells like.
I decided to see what the little switch on the back of the power supply did. Turned out it switched it to 120v mode.
5:40 so what I'm hearing is it might be possible to run DOOM on a pebble watch
2:09 As a network engineer, the real reason this is horrible to deal with is when workers chop off the labelled ends. You might have a dozen fibre and a dozen CAT cables going to 24 different areas of the site in total, and now you've got to take your mate off his job so you can locate and test every single part of main network infrastructure. The worst!
I'm happy to hear Lexi again! She's so entertaining and wholesome.
Lexi doing subreddits like this is the perfect fit. I like that she can explain exactly why it's bad.
mayonnaise + air compressor = pain is a very vague but terrifying threat... good job I don't want to know more on a personal level
I love how since Lexi knows so much about tech, i expected her to be way more "no why did you do that" to some of these, but the reality is half these posts are like "i made an abomination" and Lexi's response to most of them is "yeah thats actually fine for what youre using it for". Like things that look crazy turns out arent. This is why we love Lexi spreading the knowledge.
I Imagine Lexi vibrates in awed horror at half the pictures she gets from this sub. I like this picture
16:08 kids love putting things into slots. At least it’s money this time
I work in a hospital, can confirm the disaster that is the it closets. (Slipped in next to the it guys to get the half inch of dust off the floor. Very carefully)
I love when Lexi does tech Reddits. Wish I could *SUPER LIKE* this video.
me: I HOPE they gave this to Lexi...
me a second later: YAY!!!!
Love hearing Lexi nerrate this given it is not just her lane it is her whole damn highway!😆
One of my friends back in the day had a SEGA Genesis controller where you had to almost smash the buttons for it to read the inputs, if it read the inputs at all. How he managed to play Mortal Kombat with that thing, I've never figured out. Part of me wishes I could go back in time, open that controller up, and see what the problem was.
Was your friend a fan of eating chips while gaming and not washing his hands, by any chance
This was literally years ago, I have no recollection of specifics. All I know is that the controller did not work nearly as well as mine did.
I missed Lexi, glad she's back.
12:29 the scary part is that, this is probably what the wiring setup looks like underneath my house, and I am too scared to inspect it.
As an electrician, I've seen houses that are just like this, except the wires are in a 6" deep mud puddle that is the 18" crawlspace.
10:30 That's a Seal Storm washable keyboard from a company called Seal Shield. This is likely a car wash, so just hose the mud off and it'll keep typing.
On the other hand the mouse looks generic, so I wouldn't be surprised if the computer itself is poorly maintained and hasn't been upgraded since it was first installed.
7:50 if i had a nickel for every time lexi had a story about a device failing right when she wanted to copy over photos from a trip, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice... did she anger a god of photography or something??
When Lexi is paired with the tech support gore, it's a good day
Eeeeee! More Lexi
welcome ❤
The number of places I find you always surprises me... anyways, yes agreed apart from the work part
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU'RE A SIMPSONS FAN AND THIS VIDEO IS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AND YOU'RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE VIDEO AND THEN YOU SUDDENLY HEAR YOUR FAVOURITE MENTIONED SO YOU WATCH THE VIDEO, BUT ONLY AFTER LITERALLY JUMPING AT HEARING HIS NAME MENTIONED. Around 1:01 (I'm literally so happy rn. Probably my favourite narrator mentioning my favourite character in The Simpsons???)
6:02 as a Fitbit user, god damn do I wish I had a pebble instead. The development environment is so much better, and I think it is possible to even test code you are working on through the official hardware, something that really peeves me and makes it so I will never bother to port DOOM to any fitbit model
Still irks me that people say the first bug was a literal bug. It was a small moth, so, technically, the frist bug was a butterfly.
Sincerely, biologist who swiched tracks and is now completing an MA in Comp Sci
Does that bug you?
Hey Lexi!
I wanted to say you have inspired me to go into IT. I got my first laptop as a Christmas gift this year so I could start learning code. Thank for being such a inspiration in my life.
Congrats!
Good luck... be prepared for lots of gore and spicy pillows
Very good to hear Lexi back revealing the 'dark side' of the c'puterverse.
“Lay down this won’t hurt….for me”
I am far too familiar with this phrase but it’s oodly threatening when Lexi says it
This Video makes me cry as a Tech Geek. Im sobbing rn 😭
This is really fun to listen to when you know absolutely nothing about tech. And then you realize how wickedly smart Lexi is
2:23 my first thought was from talking with someone who used to do cabling for the education department recently after they ignored his warnings “by law” he had to go around pulling all the ethernet/power cables and cut the plugs off them.
The issue was they didn’t want to bother to have them tested and tagged.
The topic came up because a disability services company i was getting services from was being extremely resistant to getting their cables tested and tagged “from checking the most in date one was one with a tag saying certification expiring 2016” most were salvaged and donated making it even more important. they stopped blowing it off when they ended up being audited.
They kept saying off I’m sure we don’t have too because were a non-profit. All locations considered businesses/commercial require up to date tagging.
Including potential legal issues you also have the fact business insurance will not cover you if the incident involved equipment that hasn’t been certified.
WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH A LEXI IN THESE TRYING TIMES
My Favorite! Besides r/Softwaregore and r/Hardwaregore
5:20 - that's a battery pillow, a dangerous pillow.
I remember Robin raving about Pebble, but hearing Lexi raving about it too, is just amazing
It's been so long since there was a Lexi video. Glad you're back!
I work on old video game consoles as a hobby, dust and lotion is the least of my worries and I’ve never heard shit more true
I'm glad lexis is back,I was starting to worry
If I ever get a cat I will fix the cooling issue by building a custom case that can still be cooled even if the future cat decided to use it as a bed
Love me some Lexi explaining “the fuck is going on here” for tech and software. She’s the best at it.
My mom and I still use the Pebble Time. We love it. The Rebble Alliance is still going strong, Lexi. Come, and rejoin the collective.
Wow, started to think kitty kat wasn't apart of the channel anymore. Love the energy Lexi brings. 👍
Lexi reading and geeking out over r/TechSupportGore makes my little heart happy. :)
I love it when lexi talks tech! I know a bunch of stuff and I tend to be the family appointed IT person but I always end up learning something fun from Lexi!
Nice to hear Lexi review tech support gore! She’s great.
I want more Lexi and Jack. One is super wholesome and the other can make anything cursed
Any day with Lexi is a good day.
Every time I hear Lexi say "it's not _that_ bad" it makes me wonder what she has seen 😅
These episodes are far and few between but very lovely
I wish I had a picture of the corporate server room from where I worked in the 90s. Most of the machines in the building were on 10BASE-T, but the backbone for the routers and main servers was 10BASE5, and to get the required 2.5 meter spacing between taps the network engineer had mounted brackets on the wall and just looped the coax through them repeatedly to until they had a sufficient length of cable to accommodate all the taps. It looked like for some reason there was a spool of yellow garden hose with boxes attached mounted on the wall. Occasionally someone who hadn't been in the server room before would walk in, glimpse the backbone, and just spend several seconds in silence before visibly deciding not to ask because they really didn't want to know.
When I saw those ethernet cable runs I got some PTSD memories from when I was an intern on an IT company (it does Infrastructure instalations).
Basically the company sent me to reinstall the patch panels on some office block that was purchased from some comoany that had closed.
The office was sold "with base network infrstructure installed" aka, with all the ethernet runs done, and what we found still makes me sad.
The little network closet had cables going in.... but you open the closet had all the cables cut short.
ALL the 100~ cable runs, unusable.
P.S: Didn't know Lexi was an IT fella! Already like them more!
A while ago I got a tv from someone and I tried plugging an HDMI cable into and it wouldn't go in. Took a pair of pliers and found the end of an HDMI cable stuck in the port
27:50 me and my rope after shouldering the whole company for 20 years.
5:28 i had a pebble time with a mario watch face. had someone 3d print a charging stand for it
That "First HDMI Casualty" at 1:42 is a DisplayPort plug. Not HDMI. Indications: single corner notched (look at the plastic), the insets for it to be grabbed, and counted the pins.
12:48 I think that’s gone from fan to sawblade at that point
Lexi is the definition of "average Linux user"
As a Linux user, I agree.
10:36 “I need the brand of that keyboard”
Er…Lexi that’s the mouse. 😆 Maybe the editor forgor to switch back to the full picture?
It’s time for more Lexi!
For the record when i see a emkey video i check the description before watching and if it is lexi i watch it even if the video is a topic i am not interested in as lexi is always good quality
15:03 I have personally-scheduled days where I clean all of my tech just so I can avoid having my electronics be a top post in that sub
Ill add to the dunking on HP. My laptop, abt 3 or 4 odd years back, had some keys picked out my by baby sister. Grandparrents said i HAVE to send it back to let them fix it and because i was new to diobaying them (long/unhappy atory) and working with computers, i obliged.
Long story short, tech forgot to pit in some clips, through use, cracked the top right corner of the base, duck taped it, it chiped first a little bit then a lota bit, duck taped it again, probelm spread to the top left corner, duck taped it again in several layers as well as recovered the top right side, covered my power button (thankfully not with enough force to keep it down) and almost covered my charging port, and now i cant close the lid in fear of eventually ripping the screen off. And to top it all off, the battery is messed up somehow to where reguardless of how long its pluged in and charging, if you unplug it, it immediately dies of 0% battery, and recently has stoped showing that it was charging at all.
But hey, after nearing 8 years later, the thing still turns on, and i can still play Minecraft, World of Warships, TF2, From The Depths, and Enlisted on it while browsing on Opera GX. Some of the best and worst 1k spent
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Lexi is my fav narrrator SO GLAD SHE NARRATING TODAYS VID :DDDDD
Wishing everyone who reads this a good length of time
23:32 This DVI is most likely the variant which can give both analog and digital signal. Analog signal has way more separate infnormation pins, like color alone needs 3 pins as you have red, green and blue.
Man, Lexi's "huh????" at 21:10 has me crying with laughter.
Usually batteries have multiple cores. That burn at the bottom of the chromebook is what you get when the one in the middle explodes from overheating or other means.
YAY LEXY! seams like ages sense we seen you girl!
We missed you Lexi!
25:27 fun fact a few inventors apparently used the term bug for issues with their device a few times well ahead of the existence of computers and any official use of the term.
I assume they were used to bugs being annoying so they called the annoying issue a bug.
There is the caveat that this was long enough ago that i doubt it’s truly verified because it simply couldn’t be.
Haven't heard Lexi in a bit, glad to hear her with the tech stuff.
I love Lexi's videos. I always learn something new
as someone who lived in a desert for a time, got a free cup of sand out of my old dell laptop after taking it apart and cleaned it.
