    Major + 7th button = Maj7th
    Minor + 7th button = Min7th
    Major + minor = Diminished
    All three = Augmented

    I inherited one of these from my grandpa. He was not an easy man to deal with, wwii veteran, but he always had funny little instruments and bought us our first casio keyboard. Hope I can get some use out of my Q for him.

    Q Chord can do some serious badassery with proper Guitar Effect pedals; Boss SL-20 Slicer & Zoom MS70CDR +others, connected thru 1/4" jack & Amp. Add serious Delay, Reverb, Distortion, Cave echo +more; you'll be amazed at what it does. Start experimenting guys! Check out Red Feather / Rob Kelly here on YT. Ambient much?

    I have one, it was a gift, and I really have a lot of fun with it. You do not need to be a musician to play it, just push some buttons, and where ever you touch on the metal slide bar it sounds pretty.

    I watched this video at 10:30 AM on June 18, 2024.
    My name is Lynn. I've had my QC cord for at least 17 years and play it whenever I can't find a piano somewhere. Right now, I'm on a trip and I cannot remember how to make my octaves lower. For example, middle C becomes third octave C instead of middle C. Or middle becomes fourth active see instead of middle. I know that if you push something and push E it will make them lower and if you push the same something and push a, it will make them higher. I'm blind, so unfortunately, my husband had to take a screenshot because you weren't very descriptive on which buttons you were pushing. If you could come back and please tell me how to do that I would appreciate it. I did it by accident and I can't remember what I did, but I used to do it all the time. It makes a great piano when there's not one. Thank you so much!

    I have watched this instrument being played by Tracey Browne in Thea Gilmore's band for a few years. Loved the bright and crisp sound of it ... and as a gadget nut and guitar player was intrigued. Your video is the first one that has really shown this off in a good light. I am looking forward to being able to use the Qchord in music workshops with folks with limited musical ability. It appears I could select the chords for them, and they hit the strumpad.

    I've had one of these for several years and it's spent a lot of that time sitting in a corner gathering dust. I really must give it another try. It's midi so I'm sure I can use as a controller rather than a keyboard.

    I'm blind. How can I tell the QRC-1 cartridge from the QRC@2? where can I find some samples that will show me which rhythms are on QRC-1 and which on 2? just the names of the rhythms don't tell me anything since I can't read music. I do it all by ear. thank you.

    Is it able to do the same sounds as the omnichords? The newer "higher quality" sounds don't have quite the same charm that the sounds from the omnichords did.

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John Harrison That's what people say but I think that's mostly because they know the older versions are analogue and the Q-Chord is digital. Some may disagree but I'd say they all sound equally "cheesy in a good way" and it doesn't really matter which one you use because this particular type of sound works really well in the digital world, too. A hundred sounds and MIDI in and out on the Q-Chord is also pretty cool.

    • @johnharrison6808
      @johnharrison6808 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LousyFacelift "sounds better because analogue" probably yeah. I think the Omni's with a slanted strum plate are digital too. I'm not overly fussed wether it's digital or analogue, I guess once it's through a fuzz box into a cheap guitar amp it'd sound pretty close to the others anyway.

    • @harmono8766
      @harmono8766 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it has MIDI out, but it's a weird implemtnation. The strumplate seems to have different midi channels for each note in a chord say a triad. You could record a strumplate performance then assign the different channel output to one channel, but live performance might be strange.

      @@IanJCole Yes. If it has MIDI out, I think it's possible to play like an autoharp with your favorite MIDI instrument or plug-in. I feel very futuristic and potential. If the same instrument of the next generation is made, it will surely be a wonderful instrument.

    You plugged in a cartridge and pressed auto play. Then proceeded to only play with the strum plate. Not much of a “demo” here. It’s capable of much more than what you showed here. Also, the older Omnichord is a way better instrument than the Qchord.
