Wow! a campfire. Here in my Southern California mountains we just don't get to do that because of the fire danger. That was such a pleasant video. Your videos have become quite important to me. You see, I just retired yesterday (June 13) at age sixty-two after thirty-two years of teaching high school. I've been backpacking since I was eleven, hiking National Parks and Forests throughout the Western States; climbing peaks and doing long hikes up to twenty-five days. But now I'm just always searching for the pleasant one, two or three night backpacks away from the popular spots in the National Parks. Your videos have revealed these gems to me. I'm writing these down for future journeys. My favorite places now are Arizona and most of Southern Utah. So thank you for these gifts. As a hobbyist landscape and nature photographer, I know how much work you do to create these videos. We all appreciate your effort. Looking forward to your next post.
Dear Catherine really you are doing nice job for me.Iam 80 yrs old lady, when I watch your video , I feel that I am also going with you . very nice presentation , thank you,and my blessings is always with you.
Absolutely stunning. LOVE Utah and your videography is so "right on" Makes me want to head to the woods. I'm heading to Colorado soon... day hikes at first. I look forward to relaxing with your posts. Thank you.
Beautiful campsite and hike. My heart will always be in the Rockies. Soaking your feet in a cold stream and just being.....thank you for living this life and thank you for sharing. More please
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures awesome! I grew up in price Utah and then grand junction Colorado and was stationed at Peterson AFB in Colorado springs. Hope you get to see the wild stallions on the book cliff mountains near grand junction Colorado.
Such a beautiful over nighter bet you didn't want to come back down. Always a great way to start my morning with your hiking and my coffee. Take care and stay safe
Catherine, your Utah, in fact your U.S., hiking experience is not complete without a nice 8-10 day trip in the High Uinta Wilderness. Make sure you take enough time to take a trip from one trailhead to another, the loop trails don't cover enough of the terrain and a weekend trip is too short to see it properly. Make sure you take in the Painter Basin, then climb King's Peak, or the reverse if you are traveling from west to east. The Painter Basin has incredible colors, those typical of the deserts of Utah and in sedimentary rock, but with a high alpine environment. It is also the only east-west major mountain range in the country, which is very fascinated. Everything you expect to see is off 90 degrees. I hiked it back in the 1980's and it was one of the highlight trips of my life.
Hey Catherine! Thanks for the video, beautifully done. I got to hike The Box just about a year ago as a day hike down to the parking lot. One of the best days I've spent in a while - I saw three other people all day, just about half an hour from the south end of the trail. Escalante is magical - hope I can make it back!
What a beautiful place to hike and camp. The shots of the canyon walls along the creek were very pretty. Thanks for sharing with us and we hope you have a wonderful week!
Hello Catherine, happy Sunday to you Dear. Thank you so much for sharing another beautifully filmed video. There were so many picturesque settings in this video. The very best of good things for you every day. Please stay safe and healthy. 🤗
Cat now that’s what I call beautiful! Love the mtns & the gushing river... Sooooooo relaxing! Thanks again Cat for being the highlight of my week!!! You really are amazing! 🥰👍⛰🌲🗻🏕🌱🍀⛰🌲

Sometimes a gently flowing creek is just what I need! The forest is gorgeous! I loved going on this hike with you guys! Heading over to Bryan's right now.
Was there fishing Monday, caught a few rainbows just opposite the registration area. Horse flies were crazy. Good fun hike, plenty of squirrels for dogs to chase.
Glad to see you're getting back in the groove. We hope to be out soon. Spent a week in the hospital with a bacterial infection from a trash can lid that came down and cut my forehead. Almost died with that one. Looking forward to your next trip!!
Thank you. With all the boulders and stones I encountered in the water during my Death Hollow trip, I decided to bring them since I'd be in and out of the water here, as well. It did feel awkward using them again. lol
Great photography as usual. Very much appreciated because I'm an east coaster, mainly NYS and FL and not much climbing. I would not get to see what you see but for your video! Thank you much!
Love the bright golden flowers!! Quite a bit different feel in that area it seemed....good background noise....still had the nice rock walls but lots of other growth plus the ever present creek.......I know that creek water tasted good too.....great little getaway....and do not think for a minute that I missed the cheese raviolis lol lol. You still have the best coffee shop around.
Catherine, you are really inspiring me to visit Utah. I remember your Coyote Gulch video and it has made me want to wait until later on in the year. Now, I am thinking I need to make a trip to see some of these places. Great video!
Not the usual Utah hiking TH-cam video. The trail has lots of interest and your overnight spot just invited relaxation. I bet the forest smells were great, too. No wild life to speak of? Keep it coming.
Hi Cat. 2016 my hubby & I stayed at the Escalante Outfitters lil log cabins for three days. Had a great time exploring Peek-a-Boo Canyon & Spooky Gulch. Escalante is massive and not crowded. I’d love to try Box Canyon next time. Glad you enjoyed it. Love your videos, though they make crazy due to the pandemic & having to stay home and cancel a few trips. 😄
I'm running out of superlatives so taking nothing away I enjoyed this one like all the rest. I'll be looking for Bryan to drop his take on this overnighter next.
If you liked the woods in the Box. The some wonderful Utah woods are in northern Utah. Head to the Unitah Mountains. Lot's of backpacking there. Some are easy, some are hard. My favorite is Red Castle.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures There are so many amazing hikes in the Uintah's like Roger said. Red Castle Lake is amazing but my favorites are probably Ryder Lake or Amethist Lake in August or September. The Granddaddy basin is a little easier and just as beautiful.
Catherine Gregory I’m finally getting to go to Colorado in September for some hiking and 4x4ing after my shoulder heals. Looking forward to more of your awe inspiring videos. Thank you for sharing, it does more fir me than you will ever know.
Hi Catherine. Always enjoy your videos of your adventures. You really have an eye for beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. Quick question, how do you dry out your shoes or do you just let them air dry?
It would be a real pain to change each time. There are too many crossings. I wore my LaSportiva Ultra Raptors and Darn Tough socks. They dried quickly. Thank you!
Thanks for taking us along on your trip....love Utah. Im jealous of Bryan that he got to go on a pack trip with you...love to do that someday. LOL Cat...stay safe out there...
I actually experimented and shot the entire hike on my iPhone 11. It has great stabilization. Next trip I’ll be back on my a6400 with a couple walking clips from the iPhone thrown in.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures oh haha! Awesome. I suspected it wasn't the a6400, but was hoping you'd found some post production wizardry solution. Lol. I did all my Yosemite videos with a Samsung Galaxy S9+ on a gimbal and the results were surprisingly good. Even better that you didn't even need the gimbal!
I enjoy the day-n-half trips into the lesser known niches and spots in the west. our National Parks are a treasure but i like NOT recognizing all the sights [grins].

Michael San Filippo Try the Wind River Range in Wyoming. There are lots of tremendous backpacking options there.
I did the Pacific Crest Trail a year after I retired, and while I only got 700 miles in, it was the adventure of my life.

Hi Catherine. Always enjoy your videos of your adventures. You really have an eye for beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. Quick question, how do you dry out your shoes or do you just let them air dry?
Thank you! I just let them air dry. In Utah the climate is very dry so it doesn’t take long.
Awesome overnight hike! We were wondering what kind of footwear you were wearing for water crossings. You didn't seem to be changing each time.
It would be a real pain to change each time. There are too many crossings. I wore my LaSportiva Ultra Raptors and Darn Tough socks. They dried quickly. Thank you!

Arizona has a fire ban and you had a campfire so wondered if Utah has no restrictions?
There weren’t any restrictions at the time of this trip.
you must be kidding how come I havent seen this video with so many trees in it? Man
question: do you change shoes for river crossings or just hike in wet shoes and socks?
I just hike in wet shoes and socks. There are far too many crossings to change shoes every time. :)
Hi Catherine, I was wondering, if along all your adventures, you had run into any bears or sasquatch?
I’ve seen bears, but not the elusive Sasquatch!
Cathy, I would love to go hiking with you one day.
