Hiking Zebra Canyon in The Grandstaircase escalante National Monument Utah. Located not far from Peek A Boo and Spooky Slot canyons. Like Spooky and Peek a boo Zebra is a very narrow canyon, narrower in fact. The canyon mouth is 3 miles from the parking lot and the canyon itself is perhaps a few hundred yards long, much shorter than Peek a boo and Spooky. But Zebra looks quite a bit different than most slot canyons and is appropriately named with amazing stripes. Also Zebra canyon is an out and back hike unlike the peek a boo/spooky loop. Zebra is so narrow that for most people a chimney crawl is required in at least three sections of the canyon because it is only 7 inches wide. Standing water is common in several sections of the canyon most times of the year ranging between ankle and waist deep and the water is very very cold. Nearby another hike is worth doing called Tunnel slot. That video will upload next.

This area is incredible. Nearby are peekaboo and spooky slot canyons and so I highly recommend camping around here for an outstanding weekend filled with bucketlist level adventure.

The vibrum 5 finger shoes have some amazing applications. Not great for long hikes ,but I just love them for some specific purposes.

4 L of water? Would that be heavy to carry 3miles? I completely agree with being prepped for the hike.

That is a lot. I only brought 2 but this was in late october, so not as hot as summer. However I've learned from personal experience to not underestimate the importance of water in the desert. Better too much than not enough ha!

    Do you carry for protection.?
Geez one slip and you could be the subject of a new movie

Back in Alaska I always carried. But I’ve never felt the need to hear in Utah. And I do think about that movie a lot in some of these places. Luckily though, all these canyons are pretty well known and lots of people hike them. Which is unlike bluejohn canyon where that poor guy lost his arm. But still, I don’t want to get squished. 😬
