I don’t cancel cards,… I only apply for cards that I plan to keep forever,… unless a drastic significant devaluation of the perks and benefits, which it haven’t happened yet with any of my 17 cards.
Yeah different people live different lives. if you have no use for a card and you have plenty other accounts it’s nothing to sweat about. You’re Profil wouldn’t even notice if you close 1 of 17 cards.
I have 4 cards, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Amazon Prime, Sapphire Reserve, Ink Unlimited. Between all, speeding about 8000 a month. Not sure why you need 17 cards, that’s crazy.
I have a Quicksilver and Venture X card. I opened the Quicksilver in June 2021 and Venture X December 2023. The only points I have on the quicksilver are from the sign up bonus that i received in 2021. If I transfer the points to miles via the Venture X. Will I lose those points if i cancel the quicksilver card?
I see you have not combined your Chase card points. I have combined my Sapphire Reserve and my original Freedom cards. Is there a reason not to do this? Also, I have had a Citibusiness Select AAdvantage card since 2000. The fee recently doubled from $50 to $95. Is there a reason to keep a Business Card open? I feel like I am paying enough in fees with the Reserve.
1. I combine Chase points from time to time, but it's not something I regularly monitor. No need to if no redemption is being planned. 2. I keep annual-fee cards if I value the benefits. If not, then it can make sense to get rid of it.
If you're talking about the AF in Year 1, then no. If you're talking about Year 2 & beyond, then yes. Once the AF hits, you can then cancel or product change within ~ 30 days and receive a refund.

Good timing, I'm going to cancel my Savor because I think it's bucketed with a silly $1000 credit limit
I just did the same thing. I’m going to re-apply in 6months
Great content as usual thanks for the info now I have a few more options to figure out. Keep the content coming thanks.

@@hector-1810 👍 agree. But I honestly use all 17 cards strategically. I do travel a lot with my son. My setup is 100% travel cards.

No, once they're transferred over, you'll keep them.

Yes, see this video: th-cam.com/video/DS2MkVy6I3I/w-d-xo.html
Mark,
I caught my Venture X making an offensive joke the other day. It doesn’t seem remorseful and won’t apologize. Should I cancel it?
Hahahahaha Love it!
No 😂

Can I cancel the card right after AF to prevent clawbacks
