This alone paid for the annual fee on either card for the year for me.
Congrats! The Uber Cash benefit expires at the end of each month. However, the Gold benefit + Platinum benefit do stack within each month if you have both cards.
@MarkReese thanks! I just turned 18 2 months ago, but I have 5 years of being an authorized user, so a huge boost. I got it with a 100k welcome offer too!
@@NathanFogg-z3j - Correct, but it's Uber that will do that. The Uber Cash has a lifespan of ~ 30 days, so once it expires, Uber removes any remaining funds from the Amex benefit.
This doesn’t get said enough. There are so many salty people in the comments and posting videos about this card that never had the lifestyle to justify it in the first place.
Amex has been sending me mail for months saying I’m pre approved for the gold card. But I’m having a hard time justifying the annual fee. I get that they give you credit for Resy, Dunkin, Dining, and Uber but none of that stuff I don’t normally use. Uber might have come in handy for nights out I drink and don’t have to drive but I recently quit drinking and I also have a car. Dining I might use once a month. But I’m still spending an X amount of money that’s likely going to be more than the credit per month they give. I normally cook at home for the most part. So am I really getting benefits or the illusion of it? Because at the end of the day you’re likely spending more money than what they credit you per month. If you normally use those services and places they listed out. It’s definitely to your benefit. But as someone who doesn’t, it’s a bit harder to justify. I recently got the savor capital one and I get 3% cash back and no annual fee. I’m satisfied with it so far.
My OCD would have required that I round up the tip to get the total bill to $50 to use the entire credit, now there is that marginal amount remaining. 😂
I have the Amex Green and I enjoy the Clear credit. There are still not a lot of Resy restaurants in my area. So, I will keep my Green Card for now, even though it gives me 3X on dinning instead of the 4X from the Gold Card. However, the annual fee is less on my Green, so that may offset the credits I am missing from the Gold Card. Am I missing anything? Let me know. Thank you, Mark! Great video.
The hotel collection credit is unfortunately awful. Amex sells above market rate so your not getting any value, in fact, most of the time your spending more than you would if you just booked direct even with the $100 credit
Yes. That is what I do every week. I order pick-up using the restaurant website from my Resy listed restaurants in my area. I get the credit every week. I said every week because I have four Amex cards that have the Resy credit benefit. Btw, since it is pick-up and just one meal I never add tips to my weekly Resy orders 😊.

This is a great video explaining benefits! The only thing I would add is that to maximize value you should watch how much you are spending. $24 for a burger and fries really dilutes the $10 credit. If you were going to spend that money anyway, you're good. But personally, I try to keep it down to an amount close to the credit so I feel like I'm getting something.

A possible way it wouldn't work is paying over the phone if the restaurant uses a different system for those orders and if that system isn't configured as a 'restaurant.'
I decided to cancel my Amex Gold card after the changes. I live in San Francisco and the closest Dunkin' Donuts is located 10 miles away from me. That is just too far to use a $10 credit and the Resy credit is too small to use. The high end restaurants cost way more than the $100 credit will cover. Amex should have skipped the Dunkin' credit and offered a $200 Resy credit instead. The Dunkin' and Resy credit did not offer enough value for the $75 annual fee increase for me.
